What obscure tv shows do you remember watching, but no one else really watched or remembers it so you feel alone?

I have a few. I used to love watching certain shows but no one I knew watched it. So it felt like I was the only one at times.

Hex
Dollhouse
Dark Angel
Roswell (the original not the newer one)
Firefly

One was in CITV and I think it was called ghost catcher or something like that. It featured a Victorian shoe shine boy and a woman who tried to catch all the ghosts.

Moondial?

ZittiEBuoni · 04/06/2023 16:24

I watched Issy Noho, and everyone I knew was obsessed with Blake's 7, including me.

I liked The Song and the Story on BBC1, early 80s, with Isla Sinclair doing a history of folk songs. Nobody else remembers it though.

BreakfastClubs · 04/06/2023 16:24

Ultraviolet. I think it was on Channel 4 and it was about vampires.

I can remember a series called Cover Up.

Anyone else remember that?

Omg yes. I was crazy about him! So sad.

Mapp and Lucia in the 1980s. I actually didn't like it much, except for Geraldine McEwan's delicious impression of a Morningside accent. It has been called 'wonderfully camp' which is what tried my patience. I watched the episodes with a kind of grim fascination, I thought at the time. And now I miss it. I don't know anyone who ever watched it or who has heard of EF Benson. I do see today that lots of the episodes are on Youtube, so...

There was some kind of remake of this a few years ago - with Anna Chancellor? I haven’t watched the 80s one though

littleburn · 04/06/2023 16:25

@Theeyeballsinthesky I remember Tales of the Golden Monkey! I think it was on in the very early '80s. They had a seaplane!

BreakfastClubs · 04/06/2023 16:26

The Flying Doctors. Does anyone remember that?

I’ve always remembered a programme that I think was called ‘Maelstrom’ although I could have spelt it wrongly. I think I remember a dolls house and it was quite creepy, but again, I’m not sure!

I definitely watched Maelstrom, can't remember anything about it tho

Blake's Seven

( I have not watched any on your list OP but I like the look of it!)

Oh yes to Blake’s Seven !
Children of the Stones

ZittiEBuoni · 04/06/2023 16:27

My friend was obsessed with a terrible programme called Automan in the mid-80s. I just had to google to remember the title.

TheOnlyMooncat · 04/06/2023 16:27

@excelledyourself My little sister loved Greeclaws! She's 15 years younger than me, I'm more from the You & Me era 😂

SirVixofVixHall · 04/06/2023 16:27

Oh and Sapphire and Steel.

ZittiEBuoni · 04/06/2023 16:27

Definitely remember Manimal, we used to call the Slazenger tennis rackets at school Manimal rackets because of the black panther logo.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 04/06/2023 16:28

@littleburn yes!!! 😃 I think Roddy McDowall was in it & it was all a bit Indiana Jones!

boysmuminherts · 04/06/2023 16:28

@BreakfastClubs yes. I am obsessed with Australia so loved The Flying Doctors.

I’m so pleased that I’m not the only one! I watched it with my Mum, but she’s no longer with us so I can’t pick her brain. No one else has ever heard of it!

NellyTimes · 04/06/2023 16:30

Children's drama called Aliens in the Family, never met anyone else who remembers it.

I loved Blake's 7 too, had the best ending to any TV series. We also had a few homemade teleport bracelets thanks to Blue Peter!

Idontlikeshouting · 04/06/2023 16:32

@AnElegantChaos I LOVED secret life of us! One of my favourite series ever!

DisplayPurposesOnly · 04/06/2023 16:32

I've never met anyone who watched Mad Death, 1980s TV series about an outbreak of rabies in the UK.

Also Living In The Past in the 1970s where a group of people live 'in' the iron age for a year.

No. But a quick google has said it’s called The Ghost Hunter. I really liked that

Space Cadets, presented by Johnny Vaughan. A load a reality TV star wannabes thought they were training to be cosmonauts and go into space, but they were actually in a hangar in Tipton or somewhere. Minsky the monkey featured.

ZittiEBuoni · 04/06/2023 16:33

My parents wouldn't let me watch Mad Death because it was too scary.

But around the same time they did let me watch Malice Aforethought about a serial killer poisoner Grin.
