What obscure tv shows do you remember watching, but no one else really watched or remembers it so you feel alone?

I have a few. I used to love watching certain shows but no one I knew watched it. So it felt like I was the only one at times.

Hex
Dollhouse
Dark Angel
Roswell (the original not the newer one)
Firefly

Lexx, which was shown at something like 3 am in the UK. A marmite cult Sci Fi show, described as Star Trek's evil twin.
Like nothing you've ever seen and had innovative CGI, at the time.

Lars Von Trier's The Kingdom, also shown at around 3 am in the UK (great when I didn't know how to set the video). Set in a haunted hospital, subtitled, filmed in monochrome, weird and wonderful.
Stephen King made a version called Kingdom Hospital, with LVT's permission. It was OK, but didn't strike the strange note of the original.

Seaforth-a tv series in the nineties with Linus Roache playing a jack the lad. I loved it and would love to see it again. Also The Water Margin-a series set in ancient China about a gang of bandits-really good fun. No one else I know remember these.
I loved Blake’s 7 though.

I loved The Water Margin. Also, another Japanese series from the 70's, Monkey.

Ah, now you’re talking !
Loved Circus Boy (was his name Corky in the series ?) - grew up to be Micky Dolenz of The Monkees fame .
Early memories of adult telly for me :
Wagon Train
Rawhide

And for children’s programmes :
The Woodentops (my favourite), Bill and Ben, Andy Pandy , Picture Book, Tales of the Riverbank.

The Water Margin and Kung Fu seem to have got muddled up in my mind (seriously sleep-deprived with a young family at that stage in my life ).
I remember chatting about the Kung Fu series about ten years ago , insisting that I remembered it perfectly but actually it wasn’t called Kung Fu , and it started with lots of men riding horses in strange hats .
Can still recall the look on my friend’s face as she slowly backed away from me …..

Dusty’s Trail when I was a child.

Yes! I had a major crush on Dusty (inexplicably) and could sing you the theme song without faltering, @Saucery!

Banana Splits (The Monkees had a segment in it, iirc, and there were possibly Pink Panther cartoons).

Banana Splits had the Arabian Knights. Size of an elephant!

The Woodentops (my favourite), Bill and Ben, Andy Pandy , Picture Book, Tales of the Riverbank

Even at four years old I could see the strings on The Woodentops and think 'nah, not real.' Loved Tales of the Riverbank, wasn't that narrated by Johnny Morris?

McHale's Navy
The Flying Nun
Rag Tag and Bobtail - or as DF called them, Slag Bag and Oxtail.

I can't believe you've never met anyone who remembers Blakes 7. I thought everyone of my age (mid 50s) watched it

Yes it’s funny how people are saying things that were wildly popular at the time were obscure. I wonder whether they saw them as a very small child.

Hector's House, anyone? And The Herbs?

Hector with Kiki and Zaza, and the Herbs with Dill, Parsley, Rosemary, The Chives…

@Panpig loved Garth Marenghi’s Dark Place!

Yep remember this one! Especially the episode they turned into broccoli 🥦 😂

CharlotteStreetW1 · 05/06/2023 08:49

I haven't read the whole thread 😳 but I used to watch a programme called Radio. Set in a local radio station and I think it was made by Southern/Meridian TV. It was on late afternoons in the early 80s and I swear it had Gary Tibbs in it.

No one else has ever heard of it let alone watched it.

AffIt · 05/06/2023 08:53

Will Quack Quack, a cartoon show about a little Welsh duck called Will (the clue is in the name).

For years, I thought this was some kind of false memory / fever dream I had come up with, but no, Wikipedia confirms it did exist.

I have never met anybody else who has seen this

tatteddear · 05/06/2023 09:04

The Lakes. I absolutely loved it. Young John Simm. The guy who worked in the kitchen who used to narrate everything that was going on out loud third person.
No one I know even remembers it!

tatteddear · 05/06/2023 09:07

@Zoopet I watched Belle and Sebastian! The dubbing was awful but it was kind of sweet

tatteddear · 05/06/2023 09:10

@behaveasbefitsthesituationwillyas
How we used to live was what got me interested in History (as well as The World at War which we also used to watch in school) and I went on to do a degree in it so I deffo remember that one!

LunaNorth · 05/06/2023 09:10

From The Top, starring Bill Oddie as a middle-aged man who goes to stage school.

Also, wasn’t a very young Liz Hurley in Wish Me Luck?

LunaNorth · 05/06/2023 09:12

No, scratch that. I’m thinking of Christabel, another obscure WW2 drama.

tatteddear · 05/06/2023 09:13

@Geneticsbunny The Moonstone?

BreakfastClubs · 05/06/2023 09:23

I'm so glad that someone else remembers Dooby Duck's Disco Bus/Duck Truck.

I was trying to remember earlier a cartoon where a character has a yellow horse and then someone mentioned Paw Paw Bears. I'm pretty sure that's it.

Does anyone else remember a cartoon about a cat called Heathcliff?

The Glam Metal Detectives

I loved that show! Me and DH still quote "Betty's maaaaad dash!" at each other

LaMaG · 05/06/2023 09:35

Supergran!! A Scottish granny with super powers. I can still sing the theme tune in my head

LaMaG · 05/06/2023 09:37

Pajo's junkbox on RTE in ROI. Sat morning show. Opening credits was Fiesta by the Pogues. They have a Xmas song 'You better wash your socks for Christmas' and science segment by Prof Know it all. Late 80s / early 90s I'd say

changeyerheadworzel · 05/06/2023 09:39

Kum Kum cartoon about a little caveboy.

El dorado - used to watch that with my mum! She's stop and have lunch when that was on. I'd be about 3-5.

Calafornia dreams, quite like saved by the bell. Loved jake!

I remember El Dorado. Wasn't it a soap they made to compete with neighbours or something but set in Spain. It was only 1 season before they canned it?
