What obscure tv shows do you remember watching, but no one else really watched or remembers it so you feel alone?

I have a few. I used to love watching certain shows but no one I knew watched it. So it felt like I was the only one at times.

Hex
Dollhouse
Dark Angel
Roswell (the original not the newer one)
Firefly

The Secret Life of Us. Was Australian, late 90s/early 2000s.

I watched The Secret Life of Us obsessively.

Moominprincess · 05/06/2023 00:43

We are all talking about mostly obscure old TV shows but the current Australian show Five Bedrooms is great.

CatastrophicCat · 05/06/2023 00:43

Has anyone mentioned Murun Buchstansangur yet? Very strange cartoon that was sometimes on channel 4 in the 80's. DH has no recollection but it definitely existed!

I was obsessed with Barbapapa, I collected the books. Loved Mork & Mindy, did you know the scriptwriters just used to leave big blanks in the dialogue to let Robin Williams completely improvise?

Can I mention Three Wishes for Cinderella? It was a foreign children's series, badly dubbed, and was a retelling of the fairytale. It was dark and macabre and I loved it. Also The Singing Ringing Tree!

Oh my gosh The Singing Ringing Tree was one of my absolute fave programmes as a child. I can remember the Princess whose nose was turned up and hair was made straight because a spell had been cast. Also a Dwarf and a bear. Was the bear really a prince under a spell or was it the dwarf? It was so long ago I can’t remember.

When I was about 7 or 8,I watched a programme called 'Here come The Double Deckers',about a gang of kids who lived on a London double decker bus. It was my favourite TV show as a child, but anyone I've mentioned it to has never heard of it! If it wasn't for the fact that I've looked it up on the internet to confirm that it actually existed,I'd think I imagined it or dreamt it!

Yep I remember the Double Deckers

I remember all but The Newcomers. Richard Chamberlain as Dr Kildare was my first crush!

Original Dr Finlay's Casebook in black and white? definitely. Also Emergency Ward 10, Dr Kildare ('Birth. Death. Infinity.') and one about a magazine called Compact.

Adam Adamant gave me the heebie jeebies, wasn't he buried alive then re-animated?

Perry Mason with Raymond Burr. Great music too.

CallieQ · 05/06/2023 01:24

Blake's Seven

( I have not watched any on your list OP but I like the look of it!)

I can't believe you've never met anyone who remembers Blakes 7. I thought everyone of my age (mid 50s) watched it

Rummikub · 05/06/2023 01:45

@CatastrophicCat I remember Murun too!

@Bookist Barpapapa too. I think those of us of a certain age will remember it.

Three wishes for Cinderella- loved this. Remember it well, can’t think of anyone else who watched this.

Yep I remember the Double Deckers

The girl who played "tiger" is Debbie Russ, who is now a newsreader on the World Service.

JauntyRedShoes · 05/06/2023 04:06

Loved the Secret Life of Us and as a teen I got into 30 Something. Mork and Mindy and Joe 90 were favourites too.

I’m still feeling alone. No one else has remembered Soap yet.

For ages I wanted to call a son Chester!

Issy NoHo - This side up, no hooks!

I remember Bob and Rose, Alias Smith and Jones, I loved The Mole.
Three Wishes for Cinderella - yes was always on at Christmas and made me feel so festive! I remember it having an English narrator but not dubbed. She looked a bit Brigitte Bardot the Prince I thought was very handsome.

Anyone remember History Hunters with Bill Oddie and people had to try and guess a dead celebrity from various clues and in the city the were in. One was Brian Jones from the Rolling Stones and another episode was Cary Grant. I think it was afternoon tv when my kids were little.

Mentioned on another thread recently a family swap show presented by Nadia Sawalha. Plus there was some murder detective thing where contestants had to solve a murder or be “murdered” themselves. Think it just had one series set in Maldon salt marshes iirc.

Just looked it up and that was called The Murder Game but I think different to the teenager one?

And the Nadia Sawalha was Family Xchange.

Also, an amazing amount of these tv shows are on YouTube!!

mathanxiety · 05/06/2023 04:54

Banana Splits (The Monkees had a segment in it, iirc, and there were possibly Pink Panther cartoons).

tobee · 05/06/2023 05:03

Fleegle, Bingo, Drooper and Snorky. I remember the Arabian Nights segment. We watched it every week and the boys next door used to watch it with us (😍) I must have been about 5 years old

I have so many of these - many going back many years as I am getting on:
Soap with a young Billy Crystal - manic comedy satire on soaps
Nightingales - surreal comedy about night security guards with Robert Lindsay;
Flamingo Road
Eldorado - bloody loved it!

El dorado - used to watch that with my mum! She's stop and have lunch when that was on. I'd be about 3-5.

Calafornia dreams, quite like saved by the bell. Loved jake!

cormorant5 · 05/06/2023 06:25

@TellingBone Thank you for posting the links to Hog. I am pleased about the scraps in my memory.
I had forgotten about the cast. Peter Egan, Timothy West, How different they seem now.
You must have a good library or source and a very good knowledge of the industry. Thanks again.

Zoopet · 05/06/2023 06:27

Belle and Sebastian, dubbed from French, about a young boy and his white Pyrenees dog (Belle) set in the Pyrenees I think.
Loved this series!

ThePoshUns · 05/06/2023 06:47

Metal Mickey
Will o' the wisp - voiced by Kenneth Williams

Tales from Fat Tulips Garden with Tony Robinson pre Blackadder

One my younger siblings watched endlessly one summer holidays was about Professor Poopsnaggle iirc. A flying bus and a baddie...

CheesyChipsOnWembleyWay · 05/06/2023 08:02

Early 90s ITV kids drama The Lodge, set in a children's home. Never gets a mention.

Dark Skies - one of the many x files inspired ufo series of the late 90s

Millennium - the first series was brilliant.
