What obscure tv shows do you remember watching, but no one else really watched or remembers it so you feel alone?

I have a few. I used to love watching certain shows but no one I knew watched it. So it felt like I was the only one at times.

Hex
Dollhouse
Dark Angel
Roswell (the original not the newer one)
Firefly

Tool Academy.

Only three series but utterly brilliant. Every now and then someone tweets Rick Edwards demanding they bring it back.

Absolute shite but made brilliant by Rick Edwards' sarcastic commentary IIRC.

Does anyone remember The Wild House on CBBC in the 90s?

I loved that show, when the characters would talk to camera with these weird backgrounds.

American mini-series screened over the summer holidays - Rich Man, Poor Man, once an Eagle, Scruples

Oh yes! And "Captains and the Kings" and "Testimony of Two Men", both based on novels by Taylor Caldwell.

They encouraged me to read all of the above novels too.

I loved watching forever green on a Sunday night. Pauline Collins was in it I think!

Anyone remember Marmalade Atkins from the 1980s! I used to love her and the way she dressed, all punky and rebellious.

Yes!

behaveasbefitsthesituationwillyas · 04/06/2023 21:54

My So-called Life was a show I loved in the 90s. Think they only ever had one season. Claire Danes was discovered on it I think. It was fantastically grungy, I loved it.

Rasputina · 04/06/2023 21:54

Also Mad Mad House which was kind of an alternative Big Brother with contestants who were “real vampires” voodoo priestesses and …vegan!

Yes loved marmalade Atkins.

was the Charlotte Coleman?

Yes it was Charlotte Coleman. RIP :(

LunaNorth · 04/06/2023 21:55

Count Me In - a very camp fella trying a different hobby every week, with a kid ‘expert’ showing him the ropes. I think it was CITV, and I can sing the theme tune. He swung around a lamppost in the credits.

The Haunting of Cassie Palmer. Very spooky, very good. Based on a Vivien Alcock book, which I tracked down a few years back.

OnthePisteAgain · 04/06/2023 21:57

My favourite 70's kids show was the Tomorrow People-was anyone else a fan? I can't really remember much about the storyline but it there was a group of teenagers who could teleport using a "jaunting" belt!

LunaNorth · 04/06/2023 21:58

Radi0liverpool · 04/06/2023 21:41

This was Betty's Bunch!!!

Bloody hell, that theme tune has unlocked a memory!

behaveasbefitsthesituationwillyas · 04/06/2023 21:58

I also remember

Bod

Ivor the Engine

The one where the guy goes to a fancy dress shop and comes out in a different costume each episode - can't remember the name! He had a little bowler hat I think?

Loved this! I also watched heartbreak high and party of 5 around this time. Very 90’s teen angst!

Mummaluma · 04/06/2023 21:59

How about Get Stuffed? It was a really weird cookery show (with not much cookery) that was on to fill 5-10 mins on ITV in the early hours. My dad used to record it for us as it was on before WCW.

There were some kind of mystery chefs, but, tbh, it was just anarchy. I have a recollection of an exploding oven in the titles and lots of frying pans and weird props?

Batalax · 04/06/2023 21:59

A program called Soap. I was allowed to stay up late in the seventies, I think on a Friday night.

Yep, I had an early crush on one of the teenagers.

Another one I've thought of is Codename Icarus.

Was Codename Icarus about Dirk Gently? I love that (and his codename is Icarus)

behaveasbefitsthesituationwillyas · 04/06/2023 22:03

Does anyone remember a 70s tv drama called 'Maggie'?

I remember watching and thinking it was very grown-up. I don't think it was kids tv but like early evening. I think Maggie was a teen or in her 20s but I can't remember. She had really, really long hair I vaguely recall, and wore massive denim flares!

BebeBelge · 04/06/2023 22:04

Brides of Christ (I think?) - Aussie drama about nuns!

Also, Heroes - another Aussie drama about WWII with Jason Donovan.

Same!

Amispringy · 04/06/2023 22:06

Thought of another two that I loved but no one else seemed to

Sledgehammer. A kind of spoof cop show about a policeman who loved his gun.

And the oldest roomie - had Paul
Sorvino before the sopranos and goodfellas

Eerie , Indiana about a small town where weird things happen. Vividly remember the one where the family slept in tupperware to stay young. No one else seems to have heard of it though!

Ooh I loved Eerie, Indiana. The DVD is on my amazom wishlist

Was Codename Icarus about Dirk Gently? I love that (and his codename is Icarus)

It was about a mathematical genius teenage boy and a shady organisation using the boys' talents to build a bomb.

I've not read the full thread but I loved :
The Phoenix and the Carpet
Beautiful People
Lily(?) Langtree
