What obscure tv shows do you remember watching, but no one else really watched or remembers it so you feel alone?

I have a few. I used to love watching certain shows but no one I knew watched it. So it felt like I was the only one at times.

Hex
Dollhouse
Dark Angel
Roswell (the original not the newer one)
Firefly

Some awesome shows mentioned on here.
One I love is Veronica Mars

RhymingGuitars - "take that Nazi". The lengths I used to go to just to watch it😈

Michael Bentine's Potty Time.

The Aphrodite Inheritance was a bit different - mysterious goings-on in Cyprus, and it was all a bit surreal at the end.

I loved Alias Smith and Jones, cheeky cowboy capers based on the Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid I think, but nobody else seems to remember it.

I've also a vague memory of a series called Kung Fu with David 'Grasshopper' Carradine. People look at me askew when I mention that one.

I was bereft when Pete Duel died out out of Alias Smith and Jones, I used to have pictures of him and Ben Murphy on my bedroom wall

Does anyone remember any of these oldies:
Dr Kildare
Emergency Ward 10
The Newcomers
Dr Finlay's Casebook
Adam Adamant
Francis Durbridge Presents..

I remember all but The Newcomers. Richard Chamberlain as Dr Kildare was my first crush!

User1328745 · 04/06/2023 20:29

I also used to watch Kung Fu with David Carradine, didn't he meet an untimely end in RL

I’ve always remembered a programme that I think was called ‘Maelstrom’ although I could have spelt it wrongly. I think I remember a dolls house and it was quite creepy, but again, I’m not sure!

I remember that!
Another was, I think, called chimera, about an ape/ human hybrid in a laboratory that escapes.

Another in the 90s was a children's TV show about the scientist father of some kids who disappeared with soil samples, race against time storyline.

CurlewKate · 04/06/2023 20:30

A French dubbed into English called the Aeronauts.

An American show called Cowboy in Africa that I watched in the 1970s on some obscure redifusion service in Italy.

This was amazing!! Idris Elba was in it before anyone knew who he was...& had possibly the most stressful episode I've ever seen on Telly!!
'Robin of Sherwood ' anyone??

I loved Robin of Sherwood, I’ve still got the soundtrack. Michael Praed was so unbelievably hot, was so sad when he died.
”Nothing’s forgotten, nothing’s ever forgotten’. 😭

Knightmare.

Children's high fantasy, virtual reality adventure show, from the 90's

Filmed in a dungeon, one team member has to put on a huge helmet, which covered their eyes so they couldn't see, and would then be directed through a VR adventure challenge.

I have only met one other person in the flesh who remembers it.

Reader, I married him!

Yes I mentioned this. I remember it really well. They brought out a book version too.

Enter...stranger.....

It’s where Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones took the name of their comedy sketch show, Alas Smith And Jones.

DoIWantThis · 04/06/2023 20:31

Monkey on BBC2 circa 1980? Absolutely brilliant bonkers Japanese production.

Applesinmyhouse · 04/06/2023 20:31

I loves Dark Angel so much as a teen. I’d love to rewatch it lol. I even wrote some fan fiction for it. It bothers me that it ended so abruptly! It’s not so obscure but I loved/love Farscape & no one I knew IRL watched it. Saying that though, Buffy was madly popular, but again, no one I knew watched it. Another one is Cardcaptors. I used to rush home from school to catch it on tv. I was always annoyed when we finished late on Monday and I’d miss most of it. Imagine my horror when one Monday, rushing home from school, I turn on the tv and find, not my favourite cartoon, but people jumping out of a flaming skyscraper, and then, suddenly a plane crashing into it. 😳

Sharky and George! It was animated and on around 5am!

The crime busters of the sea!

Saucery · 04/06/2023 20:33

Michael Praed is still alive. Are you thinking of Robert Addie, who played Guy Of Gisburne?

BigMacExtraPickles · 04/06/2023 20:34

Transparent on Amazon. Bloody darkly funny and brilliant. No fucker I speak to has seen it.

Applesinmyhouse · 04/06/2023 20:34

Oh theres another one I remember. I can’t remember the title but I think it was on channel 5. It was drawn in quite a scratchy style and was about a teen girl and the problems she had. I wish I could remember the title. Would have been early-mid 00s.

AlwaysGinPlease · 04/06/2023 20:34

Australian drama or film - East of Eden and Return To Eden. Unattractive woman possibly called Stephanie gets pushed into crocodile infested water by her evil husband Jake and is rescued by a doctor, has plastic surgery and becomes beautiful...think she gets revenge, I can't recall but I loved it!

Ah no, I meant when he died in the show!

There are two children’s shows I vividly remember but I can’t remember their names

One was in CITV and I think it was called ghost catcher or something like that. It featured a Victorian shoe shine boy and a woman who tried to catch all the ghosts.

Another one I remember was on channel 5, and it had a mirror in it where two boys(?) would go through and there would be a girl from the older days in it. She would also come through the mirror at times too

Ghost Hunters was mint!

I remember a program me and my sister loved. It was on cbbc after school and called Big Kids - two kids parents got hypnotised into being children again, and it would happen at random times and chaos ensued. A shit synopsis from me but it was a great show!

Loved the Flying Doctors, especially Peter O’Brien

When I was a kid, in the 70s, there was a children's programme featuring a hippy type woman in cheesecloth clothes who sang , I remember the theme tune:

"I've got a handful of songs to sing you
New songs and blue songs, and songs to bring you
Happiness, no more and no less..."

No one else seems to remember this ...

I do

It was called

Handful of songs 😅

May have been Tony Arthur or someone from Playaway

FreyaBentos · 04/06/2023 20:36

I remember Issy Noho🐼
Also loved Mumfie (the little elephant)
Loved The Cedar Tree and Afternoon Plus and Farmhouse Kitchen - all 3 on in the afternoons!

I also have another one I remember but can't remember the name of and no one knows what I'm on about with this one too.

What I do remember is it was kind of like a jekyll and Hyde inspired character except it was a schoolgirl and a kids tv show and she'd turn from an ordinary girl into a great big hideous girl and it was fully a costume (like the tweenies or a mascot where the head is costume as well) and it was terrifying lol she wasn't a monster I don't think she was just a giant ugly schoolgirl 😂

I hope someone else remembers this and can tell me the name 🙈🙈

Yes, I remember this! It was another one that's a bit horrifying when you're a little kid. I'd googled it before and never found any trace of it, so thank you, GalileoHumpkins.

TheHateIsNotGood · 04/06/2023 20:37

In the 70s I remember weekend TV involved Black Beauty and the World at War series for 'entertainment', and toast; the theme music for both is carved forever in my brain.
