What obscure tv shows do you remember watching, but no one else really watched or remembers it so you feel alone?

I have a few. I used to love watching certain shows but no one I knew watched it. So it felt like I was the only one at times.

Hex
Dollhouse
Dark Angel
Roswell (the original not the newer one)
Firefly

There was a series which started with a minstrel singer under a tree singing a song usually had a meaning to it and it would open into a story, the story would fade out back to the minstrel singing

I don't know what else to call him, he was dressed curly shoes, tights, hat etc.

I have found my people!

We've been training our children to follow instructions like that...

American Gothic (channel 4 - mid 1990's) loved it.

Northern Exposure - Channel 4, possibly one of my favourite programmes ever.

Sharky & George was great - Biker Mice from Mars was around the same time I think.

GalileoHumpkins · 04/06/2023 20:11

I remember watching Pebble Mill at One with my mum, I think Mary Berry did a baking segment.

Sharky and George! It was animated and on around 5am!

The crime busters of the sea. Brilliant programme!

Charles in charge - a male American nanny I think! Loved it!

tailinthejam · 04/06/2023 20:16

Michael Bentine's Potty Time.

The Aphrodite Inheritance was a bit different - mysterious goings-on in Cyprus, and it was all a bit surreal at the end.

I loved Alias Smith and Jones, cheeky cowboy capers based on the Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid I think, but nobody else seems to remember it.

I've also a vague memory of a series called Kung Fu with David 'Grasshopper' Carradine. People look at me askew when I mention that one.

Ultraviolet. I think it was on Channel 4 and it was about vampires.

This was amazing!! Idris Elba was in it before anyone knew who he was...& had possibly the most stressful episode I've ever seen on Telly!!
'Robin of Sherwood ' anyone??

Gingernaut · 04/06/2023 20:19

EmpressMoo · 04/06/2023 16:57

OMG Cop Rock, @Gingernaut !!!!!

Nobody has ever heard of it and when I try to explain it people look at me like I am tripping. TBF, whoever came up with the concept of a musical crime show probably was tripping. Ditto whoever bought the series from the US to show in the UK. It was so so bad, it was genius... 😂

It was Stephen Bochco (Hill Street Blues) and William M Finkelstein (Law & Order, NYPD Blue and later, Murder One).

It had such huge names behind it, that peoples' jaws dropped when they saw how bad it was.

They even had some of the cast from HSB.

Zoologydragon · 04/06/2023 20:20

@Vebrithien I'm also a rememberer!!!! Loved that programme!!! Often talk about it to DP who is older than me and he looks at me like I was insane!!! Do you remember the alphabet soup game on it???

hoteltango · 04/06/2023 20:20

Like others, I loved Ultraviolet.

Others I loved enough to buy the DVDs:

A Very Peculiar Practice
Edge of Darkness
Eureka
Wonderfalls
The Lone Gunmen
ReGenesis

Jifmicroliquid · 04/06/2023 20:20

Mop and Smiff. No-one ever remembers it.
It was out in the 80s and about an old English sheepdog and a tabby cat.

I came to post this when I saw the thread title. Hardly anyone seems to have watched it!

I loved this. I rewatched it on YouTube last year after it was mentioned on a post.

Soubriquet · 04/06/2023 20:23

No one seems to remember my mirror one Sad

One scene I remember is the girl cut her leg and got a really bad infection. Of course in those times, it was treated with leeches. The boys went through the mirror and helped save her life

And, as many PPs remember - "Get on board, get on board, get on board with the Double Deckers..." with Tiger and the Hovercraft.
