I've been told I don't - however I don't care .....

Do dress your age!??

Nothing wrong with that at 20 or at 60. Ignore gobshites who think there is.

paradoxicalfrog · 03/06/2023 16:40

I'm 70; I wear what I want. Today, I'm wearing a Tee shirt and skinny jeans.

What does OP think 70 year olds are supposed to wear?

Maddy70 · 03/06/2023 16:40

Well I am off out to a rave tonight probably in an appropriate clothing . I'm late 50s who cares ?

I'm late 40s. Wearing a Pokémon tshirt. So probably not.

Maireas · 03/06/2023 16:41

Yes, young women tend not to wear vests tucked into jeans. If you're 50, then I suppose dressing young would be leggings or lycra shorts and a crop top.
Nothing to stop you doing that, though.

sawandnotseen · 03/06/2023 16:42

Probably not but I don't care! Neither should you

GloomySkies · 03/06/2023 16:43

I quite often wear comic book tshirts and get complimented by the 5 and 6 year olds when I volunteer in school, so probably not 😂

Maireas · 03/06/2023 16:43

@GloomySkies - I like your style!

tailinthejam · 03/06/2023 16:45

I'm early 60's and practically live in jeans and t-shirts. And I shall carry on doing so for as long as I damn well please.😎

Lorrymum · 03/06/2023 16:45

I was once told by a "friend" I was in danger of being mutton dressed as lamb. I was 25!

CeriB82 · 03/06/2023 16:46

I have no idea. How should a 48 yr old dress?

today im in denim shorts, vest top and salomons.

thethuthinnang · 03/06/2023 16:53

You look great, jealous of your lovely arms and figure in general. Go and get yourself a lycra leggings/crop top set!

LiveLaughLoaf · 03/06/2023 16:59

Disgusting OP. Please go away and put on a twin set and pearls immediately!

catmothertes1 · 03/06/2023 17:10

I love your look.

Are space hoppers not peak 50 year olds? Wouldn't expect anyone younger to know what they were.

My teenagers had Space Hoppers when they were smaller, they never went away.

HappyMe6 · 03/06/2023 17:16

66 and wear just what I want to wear! Children’s clothes have ages on the label not adults. I don’t quite get this. Dress for yourself and never EVER worry about what other people might think, you look fine to me op

EmpressMoo · 03/06/2023 17:22

Coloured jeans and silk shirts were 1992, @BogRollBOGOF !😂I had a collection of silk shirts from Pilot and the dad of one of the guys at my college had a market stall in Soho that sold overdyed 501s that I lusted after in 1992. They all got left behind at my parents in 1994 when I graduated because they were no longer in fashion. Flouncy skirts and waistcoats started in the late 80s when I was a sixth former. I wouldn't mind them coming back either!

Always4Brenner · 03/06/2023 17:24

Jeans or leggings with skirt on really hot days. T shirts brighter tops for summer.

Randomusernamegenerated · 03/06/2023 17:27

I wear what I like and what is comfortable for me. I did laugh when myself, a relative in their mid 80s and my young adult daughter all arrived to a family function in the same style and brand jeans and all paired them with similar footwear and tops. One of us probably isn't dressing our age and none of us care.

Fandabedodgy · 03/06/2023 17:32

How do you dress your age?

Laurdo · 03/06/2023 17:37

Probably not. My usual uniform is jeans, a crop top and converse. I'm 35.

I also get away with buying kids clothes. Saves me a fortune. A lot of my t-shirts are age 11-12. My little DSD5 loves that we can often buy matching t-shirts.

I'll also borrow clothes from my mum who's 65.

Gone are the days when hitting 50 meant floral skirts and cardigans. Just wear what you want. Fuck folk.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 03/06/2023 17:37

Hmmmm.....well. I used to think it didn't matter. But I've just come back from Rome and now I most definitely do. In the photos I realised I look like a scruffy cheap bag of rags wearing outfits that didn't flatter me at all. Compared to the stylish Italian women of my age who clearly buy to flatter their figure and don't go for high fashion or loose jersey type of joggers etc.. Need to be a bit more choosy these days about what I buy I think and stop thinking I can dress like a boho casual 20 something when I'm more than twice that age.

That's not an age thing though, that's more choosing clothes that flatter you. Two women the same age might have completely different styles because they have different bodyshapes.

ApolloandDaphne · 03/06/2023 17:57

You are wearing jeans, a vest top and trainers. Surely that is fairly basic for any age group!

wwyd83 · 03/06/2023 18:24

Thinking back to when my mother was my age, it was floral skirts, silk shirts, patent heels, tailored trousers, I don't think she owned a pair of jeans!

My sister who isn't much older dresses entirely different. Skirts and embroidery tops. Very 'white stuff' looking.

I'm usually live in dungarees and DMs it's only today I put jeans on, I got them from a charity shop and made the rips.. trying my £3 bargain out..
