Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just having breakfast (Lidl superberry granola, if anyone's interested - it's full of berries!), and waiting for my first cuppa to brew. I'm in my kitchen spot, with the window open so I can hear the birds, and I've seen the robin flitting about already.

I have a very quiet day planned, mostly pottering & catching up some washing. I'm going to sit and do some crafting with dd2 who has a diamond painting on the go but doesn't seem interested unless she has someone to chat to.

Dd1's finally off to pick a prom dress 🥳 She's been holding off for me being well enough to go but I haven't got it in me to sit in a busy shop atm, so is going with her dad instead. They've been warned about going over budget & any alterations needing to be simple so I can do them since I think the shop in town will be pushed for time now 🙄

She needs a bag and shoes too - I'm usually exceptionally organised & it's all got away from me for this 😢

Later on we'll probably all just do our own thing. I'll either crochet or read, dd2 will likely call her friend & try to beat their "record" time, and dd1 will watch more Vampire Diaries again.

I'm considering buying us takeaway for tea from my favourite Chinese 😋 Last time we had one, I was struggling to eat much & didn't really enjoy it that much. Will see if anyone wanted to cook first though 🤔🤣

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning, always love this thread so thought I'd join in.
Both my boys are away at scout camp so house is feeling very empty. DH and I are having a coffee and then a day of gardening is on the cards. It's another beautiful day here. Later on we're going to venture into town for food, it's nice having time for just the two of us, it's a rarity! Early night as am walking a sponsored walk in the morning and am still not convinced it's a good idea! Have a lovely day

Deathraystare · 03/06/2023 08:05

Work (7 to 1) then the never ending launderette. Whoop -de-do! I already saw my friend in hospital on Thursday She is obviously as bored as anything. She has tubes attached so no feeding! She has been in for a while with a stroke and now cannot swallow properly hence the tubes. Must be bloody awful when the food comes around. Got a voucher out of the free Metro paper which is money off the I paper that she likes so have given it to another friend who plans to visit today.

IggyAce · 03/06/2023 08:05

Dh is off to a wedding (he’s the photographer).
Ive stripped our bed so am looking forward to line dried bedding this evening.
I intend to pop to the library to return some books and hopefully find another I fancy reading.
Will probably potter around the garden.
DD is mid GCSEs and is off to school this morning for a science revision session. I have to say her science & English teachers have gone the extra mile these holidays as both have done a revision session.
Im thinking of treating dcs to tea at the pub tonight.

SmugglersHaunt · 03/06/2023 08:06

Good morning! I’m gardening the allotment then have a friend’s 50th birthday party in town later on. Am going to line my stomach from 4pm in preparation

Mojitosaremyfavourite · 03/06/2023 08:08

Enjoy your day op.

Sounds great 😊

We are in Spain. Returning tomorrow as children are back to school on Monday.

DH works here so we’ll be back again to see him in a few weeks time which will be so nice.

He has a day off ( DH ) today which is lovely … so we are heading off to the beach, having a swim in the pool and perhaps will have some nice lunch somewhere later on.

All in all a chilled day too.

Happy Saturday everyone 😊

Rowgtfc72 · 03/06/2023 08:09

Morning! Sat having my cuppa watching the news while my twonky dachsund puppy shreds yet another blanket! Dh at work, teen dd in bed still.
Fortunately we have our prom dress ( jjs house online) and we found a lovely lady locally to alter it for £18! We have Converse to go with it, nails booked, hair booked, trying to talk her out of a spray tan. And she wants her nose pierced before prom.
Manic cleaning and gardening today to catch up on what I never get time to do during the week. And walk the puppy!
Hope you're feeling up to your Chinese and enjoy your crochet- my mum never taught me beyond squares.

cheshirecatssmile · 03/06/2023 08:10

Going daughters to decorate her hall stairs and landing.
Lots of brews will be needed with too many breaks to snuggle the baby

grayhairdontcare · 03/06/2023 08:11

I'm off to the local horticultural society plant sale soon.
Then a day pottering about, while dp meets friends for the fa cup final.
Probably have Japanese fusion for takeout tonight.

SnapBang · 03/06/2023 08:14

Morning all! We are away at the coast visiting family at the moment, returning home tomorrow. It’s been really beautiful weather all week! Today we are going swimming - this place with small waterslides the dc love round the corner. You get a one hour slot so it’s always quiet and it doesn’t take all day luckily. There’s a little village I want to visit nearby for lunch and a potter round the shops after that. I’ve promised dc they can pick a souvenir so they’re beside themselves with excitement. This afternoon we’re back to the beach with a lot of family. I hope everyone has a fantastic day!

PurplePositivity · 03/06/2023 08:15

I love these threads, it's quite comforting reading what people are up to...

Chez Purple, teenagers and DH are in bed and teenagers will be working later. I'm sat listening to the birds, switching between washing and drinking tea.

Later I'm going to a friends, not quite sure what it is but it's a gathering which will include alcohol, I'd like to say garden party but not sure it'll be that posh!

Happy Saturday everyone 😎

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 03/06/2023 08:15

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I remember prom shopping days with my dd. I hate shopping and she was very indecisive so it was hell for us both.
Today I have stripped the bed and have a washing nearly ready to hang out. It's such a lovely spell of sunny weather we are having in Scotland. I'll nip to Aldi for some food and I might go to the garden centre for plants. I have a coffee delivery due at some point today, so I won't be far. Chicken curry for dinner.

Hillrunning · 03/06/2023 08:17

Roofers arriving imminently. So feeling a bit like I can't get stuck into anything until they do.

After that, putting on an audiobook and tackling bits of the house. Have a house guest next weekend and currently there isn't a suitable room for them to sleep in. She is a dear friend but also has issues with cleanliness and so while I know she won't judge me, I do want to make sure the space she is in feels comfortable for her.

I'm then hoping to get to the garden centre for a few plans to brighten up the front.

DH at work till 6.30 which is a shame.

anewbook · 03/06/2023 08:18

In bed with my third cup of tea.
M&S scotch pancakes for breakfast soon with natural yogurt.
Off to B&Q later for a new sink and then home for a Mediterranean pasta in the garden with DH’s homemade pasta with the pasta machine that our kind neighbour lent us.

Hope you enjoy the Chinese more than last time OP and that you are doing ok.

IfYouDontLikeTheAnswerDontAskTheQuestion · 03/06/2023 08:18

I'm just wondering what to have for breakfast - my husband is frying some bacon (I hate the smell) for himself. I've fed the garden birds, and the squirrels. Changed my bed, got the washer on. I'll hoover the bedrooms later. Eldest son will be here at about 10, he wants my husband to look at something on his car. My groceries will be here at about 11, and DH and I will have pizza and wedges for tea.

lucysmam · 03/06/2023 08:19

@Rowgtfc72 thankfully I managed to book hair & nails before getting ill, it's the one thing I did do! She wanted lashes too but I'm not paying £45 for those 😱 so we've compromised on up to a tenner for a single pair ofbstrip lashes, instead of ten pairs for £3 ish, since she's good at sticking them anyway. She actually wants her nose pierced too, but it hasn't come up in conversation for a while so I'm not mentioning it 🤣

We got back from a couple of nights away yesterday so the washing machine is on.
Taking DD to her second archery lesson in a bit - need to walk the hounds before we go.
Hoping it warms up a bit today - it’s been so cold here!

soupmaker · 03/06/2023 08:24

Currently enjoying a lie in until 8.30. DH not working this weekend so we're gardening. I need to get up to go and get plants and some compost. Also need to do a food shop. DH going out with a pal to watch the football this afternoon and I'm off to book group. Kids will be having a lazy day in the garden, they've asked for the inflatable pool to be got out the shed. It's roasting already.

Rebelmcstreettuff · 03/06/2023 08:25

Morning @lucysmam and all, glad to hear you have your appetite back.
Chinese for us too later.
DS1 and DS2 are still in bed, they went to the cinema together last night.
Me and DH will be in the garden today,I need to paint 2 large walls, best get the suncream on.
Prom shopping for a new suit 2mrw for DS2,not looking forward to that as he is a fussy bugger, might treat myself to a new dress as we are off to a wedding reception next week.

MortifiedSeptember · 03/06/2023 08:27

Ex is taking dc for the day. He will hopefully pick them up and drop them in good time.

I booked a beginner sewing class for myself. It's free at our local library.

I also do need to do a bit of food shopping. I'm looking forward to doing solo shopping and only buying things on my list.

AssertiveGertrude · 03/06/2023 08:28

I have a bit of study to do and kids have to be dropped to hobbies. My father in law isn’t well so dh is keeping an eye

I made enough dinner yesterday for today due to the heat and time so that is it- Will relax with wine and Netflix later all being well

might grab 20 mins in the garden Weeding

Simonjt · 03/06/2023 08:31

I’m in Germany for a stag do that started on Thursday, I have to say I’m officially too old for two nights out in a row. I’m flying back to Sweden to fly back to the UK so my husband doesn’t have to fly back to the UK with the children on his own. So I can’t wait to do two flights hungover, fantastic planning on my part.

We’re going out for lunch with his Grandma before we fly home, she has this thing about not booking tables as she finds it limiting, so we’ll have to spend ages finding somewhere that she likes and has walk up tables available for us, it won’t be frustrating at all.

Rowgtfc72 · 03/06/2023 08:32

@lucysmam the nose piercing is a regular topic. She's having 4 teeth out for her new braces in the next 3 weeks so I may just crack and let her have it done.
She's got a mechanics apprenticeship lined up after gcses so not sure if she could keep it in anyway.
( we've never dabbled with false lashes but she bulk buys torture implements to curl hers!)

peachesandsweets · 03/06/2023 08:32

These posts always give me such comfort. Hope you are feeling a bit better @lucysmam and enjoy the chinese tonight!

We are currently pottering around, as am heavily pregnant with a toddler - so have been bouncing on my ball while reading various books and being handed things. DH has been blitzing the bomb-site that is our kitchen, while I've "entertained" DD.

Might attempt a wander around the woods this morning with the dog, and to burn off some toddler energy. Am hoping she has a decent nap today so I can sneak one in too!

SushiSuave · 03/06/2023 08:35

I'm a teacher so today I need to sit down and finish my planning for next term and begin the end of year reports! Have had a lovely week off with DS but as OH is home now for the weekend, it's time for me to stop putting off the work! Will probably take the dog for a run this afternoon, have a new tyre being fitted on the car and the. Chilli for dinner!

Iamnotaloggrip · 03/06/2023 08:37

Morning all. I’m just enjoying a coffee before tackling the washing and feeding the birds. I could do with going shopping (clothes and presents) this morning then I’ll play tennis this afternoon. Curry for tea I think.

Glad you’re feeling better Lucysmam, enjoy your Chinese!
