Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just having breakfast (Lidl superberry granola, if anyone's interested - it's full of berries!), and waiting for my first cuppa to brew. I'm in my kitchen spot, with the window open so I can hear the birds, and I've seen the robin flitting about already.

I have a very quiet day planned, mostly pottering & catching up some washing. I'm going to sit and do some crafting with dd2 who has a diamond painting on the go but doesn't seem interested unless she has someone to chat to.

Dd1's finally off to pick a prom dress 🥳 She's been holding off for me being well enough to go but I haven't got it in me to sit in a busy shop atm, so is going with her dad instead. They've been warned about going over budget & any alterations needing to be simple so I can do them since I think the shop in town will be pushed for time now 🙄

She needs a bag and shoes too - I'm usually exceptionally organised & it's all got away from me for this 😢

Later on we'll probably all just do our own thing. I'll either crochet or read, dd2 will likely call her friend & try to beat their "record" time, and dd1 will watch more Vampire Diaries again.

I'm considering buying us takeaway for tea from my favourite Chinese 😋 Last time we had one, I was struggling to eat much & didn't really enjoy it that much. Will see if anyone wanted to cook first though 🤔🤣

What about all of you? 🙂

@Simonjt that sounds like some epic planning on your part 🤣 I hope you have a fabulous time, regardless, & that finding a suitable lunch venue with your DH's Grandma isn't too rough with a hangover!

@Rowgtfc72 I think I'd crack & allow it under those circumstances! Sounds like a pick-me-up treat will be needed.

I will do few bits of cleaning in the house. Walk up to the local shop this morning with DS three to get him a kinder surprise he's obsessed with these. They when partner gets back from him hobby around 1 we might all go to the seaside for an ice cream . Them come home have a bbq and get little to bed. Finally we get to relax together at around 8;30 and watch a show in bed cuddling

Chelsea26 · 03/06/2023 10:01

Morning all

I’m still in bed with DP - I’ve been up to make us coffee and now drinking that in bed.

DS1 is at football training, DS2 is downstairs on the switch, DSD, her friend and DSS are all still asleep.

Lazy day today really, have to make chilli for a BIG family party tomorrow (feeding 26 will be fun!) and DSS has had an operation so he got to choose dinner tonight so we’re having cottage pie.

DP will continue building the raised flowerbeds he’s designed in the garden - I’ll watch and bring refreshments as necessary. Kids will probably be in the pool all day as it’s lovely here today.

Justonedayatatime11 · 03/06/2023 10:11

Lazing in bed with a cup of tea and a cupcake. Attempting to put some weight on so cake for breakfast is acceptable at the moment!
Need to shift so can return some items to Next and pick up some others from Dunelm. Also have a mountain of washing and housework to do, plus a cake to ice and decorate for tomorrow. Hoping DH is going to make lasagne for tea.
So lovely to see you back @lucysmam, I hope you're doing ok

princessspotify · 03/06/2023 10:14

Morning all. I'm sat in the garden drinking coffee. It's lovely and peaceful. DH is at work. DS1 watching TV and DS2 is still asleep. We're meeting Dh after work in next big town to buy Ds's new trainers and go to Halfords to look at new bikes for DS1. Hopefully if the sun stays out will have a little bbq for dinner.

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 03/06/2023 10:15

Sitting in the garden drinking coffee with DH and the dog. I just got back from a weeks' house-sitting yesterday so I'm enjoying being in my own home with nothing to do Grin

Peridot1 · 03/06/2023 10:25

Love these threads. So comforting.

Your day sounds nice @lucysmam - hope you enjoy your Chinese if that’s what you end up having.

Here I’ve had breakfast - Greek yoghurt and a nectarine and a couple of cups of tea while catching up on my online world. About to do a shopping list and nip to the supermarket - we are having friends over for dinner tonight so need to get sorted. Then I need a quick tidy up of the house. Downstairs anyway.

DH is recovering from a day at a charity cricket thing yesterday which involved a lot of beer. He will be doing some gardening later.

Tonight’s dinner will be a Masala chicken, cumin roast veg and a mint yoghurt dressing. All from a Hairy Dieters book. And probably too much wine. And maybe some cheese. Or dessert. Will decide at supermarket.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 03/06/2023 10:28

Tidying up. Bathing cat’s open wound. Having lunch. Trying to book pedicure appointment for Today. Got to return clothes to H&M but can combine with date night which will end with a nice night of sec.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 03/06/2023 10:30

Sorry date night will be meal out plus drinks. Then sex not sec!

mamaduckbone · 03/06/2023 10:39

Good morning @lucysmam - sounds like a lovely relaxing day.
I've been for a run and had a coffee and some breakfast in the garden.
Dh is at work, ds1 was at a party last night so still in bed, ds2 has just gone to the gym, so all is peaceful in the house at the moment.
I need to do some cleaning as we have friends round for a bbq later, and also possibly go clothes shopping - I desperately need to but would rather be in the garden.

Decafflatteplease · 03/06/2023 10:50

Morning @lucysmam and all! So glad you are able to eat again now lucysmam! We are also having Chinese for dinner, we haven't had one in ages, it used to be a weekly event but is now every 6 weeks, it's our friend that runs the takeaway and it's excellent food although on the pricey side.

Slow morning here, just pottering around. 1 dc off for a haircut in a bit and we'll get a few errands done in town. Uniform is drying nicely on the line 😁

Home for lunch then debating what to do this afternoon. Normally we swim but we have no car today as it in the garage 🙄. Maybe a walk to the park . Or maybe a garden day.

Chinese for tea then snuggle on the couch with DH and a bottle of wine once DC asleep as is our usual Saturday night routine!

MinnieMountain · 03/06/2023 10:57

We’re whizzing through France on the TGV on our way back from holiday on the south coast of France (not the fancy bit but it was beautiful).
FIL is kindly driving us home Cockfosters.

Glenthebattleostrich · 03/06/2023 10:58

We are just heading to Costco and then Aldi for the shopping, then some washing and tidying the garden. A nice dog walk with a friend later then DD has a friend sleeping over tonight so will either cook some nice picnic stuff or get a takeaway.

gracewitt · 03/06/2023 11:01

Love this thread.
I'm on my own today so began with a potter round the garden to inspect the progress of raspberries, carrots and potatoes. Did parkrun at my home park for the first time in ages. Hoping for a better-than-anticipated result.

I have a little work admin to do so that will occupy this afternoon while the FA cup final is on tv. The back door is open so there is a gentle sound of birds, mowers, children and trains.

Lunch will be pasta with home-made sauce. Liking the idea of a Chinese takeaway later - great suggestion!

CosmosQueen · 03/06/2023 11:11

Had a lousy night with chest pains (I have heart failure and stress ramps it up, thanks to not-so-D H 🤬)
So far I have sorted out a big bag of fabrics for a friend who I am seeing on Monday, tidied my sock yarn stash (🫣), had a coffee and eaten yogurt and raspberries. I wandered around the garden to see if the sweetpeas were surviving being moved (I think they’re ok) and am about to hang out the washing.
DH has wisely disappeared for a long walk with DDog…..
I have no idea what we’re eating today, there’s plenty in the fridge so no one will starve, I’m going to sit outside with my knitting and listen to a podcast I think.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 03/06/2023 11:22

Good morning.

I have a friend arriving for brunch in a little while so I’m about to start cooking - I’m doing bacon and egg bagels with fresh fruit and mini Danish pastries. Looking forward to having a catch up. Later on I’m meeting a group of friends for dinner at an Italian restaurant then off to the o2 to see Peter Kaye. Very exciting!

lucysmam · 03/06/2023 11:46

My lovely friend has just called round with a present for me 🥰 I have visions of sipping tea, brewed in a pot, from a china cup and saucer, while sitting at my new garden furniture...she's bought me a set instead of flowers! I'm (maybe sadly) very excited to use it & am about to embark upon a search for a crochet tea cosy pattern 🧶

Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

Sorry to hear about your crap night @CosmosQueen . Hope you have a restful day.

I'm slightly hungover after a rare night out so will be taking it easy.

Breakfast was chocolate mousse (shopping arrives later today).

I've been for a walk in the sun so am feeling virtuous.

Will potter, watch football later (Scottish Cup final) and then maybe family movie as I don't think older teen has plans.

frozendaisy · 03/06/2023 11:54

Very chilled morning
Chilled tidy up
FA Cup Final

MintyCedric · 03/06/2023 11:56

I was supposed to having a lovely weekend of drawing, sewing and reading in the garden with an Aperol spritz or 3 as I’ve worked several weekends recently and won’t get another one off until beginning of July.

However…

My 84 yo mum had a fall overnight Tues/Weds. A&E, stitches and managed to pick up a stomach bug in the 9 hours we were at hospital.

So I will be mostly doing multiple rounds of laundry, scrubbing shit out of carpets and trying to catch up on all the work I haven’t managed to do this week…

DownTheRabbitHoIe · 03/06/2023 12:05

I'm clearing the ironing backlog ready for school on Monday. Three more bits to do and then I'll sort lunch. This afternoon I will be chilling in the garden with my crochet.

DownTheRabbitHoIe · 03/06/2023 12:06

@lucysmam I have sent you a PM

kikisparks · 03/06/2023 12:07

DH got up with DD so I could have a lie in but I couldn’t get back to sleep so got up at 7.30. We went out to a park we haven’t been to before and it was great, had a quick picnic lunch then got home so DD could nap in her cot.

Doing some washing then I’m going to dye my hair, tonight we’re out for a birthday dinner.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 03/06/2023 12:18

Currently dying of boredom in the hairdressers getting my roots done. I've been here 2 hours and counting - WTF takes so long?! I'm doing it myself next time

TattyOne · 03/06/2023 12:28

Hello! I'm working 7 days a week, at work Monday - Saturday for 7:30am - 5pm and Sundays 9 - 3. It's now Saturday, 12:20 and taking a quick 15 minute break! It's quite quiet here today but we've made some good sales.

I've got a can of Monster Ultra and a couple of vegan sausages from the local bakery to have at my desk.

Finishing at 5 then going home to feed our cat her dinner then making my hubby's cheese and banana on toast and having fruit for my own dinner.

I'm currently obsessing over The Salem Witch Society by K.N Shields, about 3/4 way through so will be engrossed in that again tonight!
