He's done something very wrong. He knows it's wrong or he wouldn't have lied about it.
He's lost his career & his credibility, isn't that enough of a punishment?
If his victim's family wants to take it further, fair play to them, but I think he just needs to disappear from public life & we need to stop giving him any attention at all.
I'm not comfortable with the witch hunt.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 02/06/2023 07:56

Caroline Flack attacked her partner then couldn't handle the repercussions. Its a different situation.

Look I have never liked PS and I like him even less now. However, no one knows what state of mind someone is in and you need to be made of steel to withstand this level of daily vitriol and scrutiny on top of loosing your friends and career. I think ITV have also behaved appallingly and serious questions need to be asked about their role in this as an employer and a national broadcaster.

user1485155050 · 02/06/2023 07:56

Regardless of the ins and outs of PS's relationship with this individual, it is definitely notable that barely anyone has come out in support of him. Appears to confirm rumours that have circulated since Fern Britten left TM that he's deeply unpleasant.
Contrast with Ant McPartlin's "troubles" a few years ago, where the PR machine went into overdrive to rehabilitate him.

GL123 · 02/06/2023 07:57

He can’t say this is how Caroline Flack felt. That was a completely different thing and how does he know how she felt when she isn’t there to speak for herself? That’s such a horrible thing to say and does once again appear as a threat, the same way the random statement about Holly and Martin Frizell was and even the statement after that. He seems to be going from one subtle threat to the next

Interesting how he's claiming it's homophobia Lololololol as if there wouldn't be the same, if not more outrage if this was a young woman that's he'd met when she was a teenager and had sex with in his dressing room!

Cheryl Cole met Liam Payne when he was just 14 and she was an adult in a position of power on the XFactor. They went on to have a relationship and a baby and no one batted an eyelid. In the article below he jokes about flirting with her on the XFactor and links that to their eventual relationship. No mention of grooming or inappropriateness. Total double standards.

Cheryl and Liam Payne's relationship history after 1D star says why it ended

Lol at the Cheryl/Liam comparisons. If you can’t see the MASSIVE differences, you’re a lost cause.

knittingaddict · 02/06/2023 07:59

Haywirecity · 02/06/2023 07:40

And you'd be supportive of your son being pursued by the media in the manner PS has been through, maybe pushing him to suicide as it did with Caroline Flack? You'd be OK with that?

We've had to personally deal with one abusive, manipulative man in our family. He sure as hell was no blood relative. If it all came out and was splashed across the papers then I would consider that a natural consequence of his actions.

He cried and said he would kill himself too. Surprisingly he's still here making trouble.

So no, I have no sympathy. My thoughts and care will ALWAYS be for the victims of men like this.

Explain the difference?

Icedlatteplease · 02/06/2023 08:00

Because liers only admit to the part of the lie others can prove. The reality will be worse.

A bit like a well known teacher/pupil scandal. Apparently he was in love and it was a massive mistake in the name of love. But then Other people start connecting the dots, things they saw but thought nothing of. Of course there is really actual proof, but you know. She wasn't the only girl he tried grooming, just the only one that was ever reported and got caught.

There's a line PS is following. It's not going to be the truth. It's there to obscure

I'm not comfortable with the witch hunt.

We are not chasing him through the streets and skidding through his letterbox.

We are commenting on a media product that he and his team have decided to put out, and discussing what it adds to the known facts on the safeguarding concerns and apparent misuse of power.

If you want him to stop, tell him.

Blige me, this is depressing. Taking advantage of young men is apparently as societally acceptable as it is when young women are the victims and #Metoo hasn't moved us in much at all, it seems.

As someone who was abused as a kid and had adults turn a blind eye, your attitude disgusts me.

You know the facts of your abuse. So you can write what you like about it. But on here we don't know all the facts. People are still writing that there are ndas and injunctions and superinjunctions. They're making up rumours about the runner based on innocent comments. How would you like it if people made up rumours about you?

Whatever PS has or hasn't done, he doesn't deserve the weight and sheer relentlessness of what he's gone through. I'd assume you'd want your abuser to go to court and be convicted. If PS has broken the law that's what should happen to him. Not a trial by media, consisting of lies and half-truths But I've seen murderers treated with less venom tha PS.

daretodenim · 02/06/2023 08:01

What I don't understand is if he gives out career advice to people, why was THIS guy the one who got a job? I'm sure others had asked for a job, or a foot in the door to an interview etc. What was it about him was different to any of the others who would have asked for help?

Emotionalsupportviper · 02/06/2023 08:01

AuburnLeaves · 02/06/2023 07:48

Stop. You’re like a bunch of vultures, circling over your dying prey and pecking at the last bits of flesh on his bare bones.

The man is broken. This is somebody’s life, not a piece of entertainment for your enjoyment. Whatever he’s done … or hasn’t done - none of you know the full facts and your glee in watching him suffer is quite hideous to witness.

This is somebody’s life, not a piece of entertainment for your enjoyment.

What about the boy (now man) he groomed and manipulated. Did he not have the right to a life? Or was he just there for PS's enjoyment?

He will never be the man he could have been had he not been manipulated and used in this way. He may never properly recover - many don't - only time will tell.

I have no sympathy for a wealthy powerful man who could easily have had consensual relationships with other gay men, but who instead chose - chose - to take advantage of the innocence of a child. It's arrogance, and narcissism and an abuse of power.

Instead of whining about how badly it has affected him, PS should be feeling ashamed of what he has done. He isn't ashamed. He is angry, and possibly frightened because his behaviour has been exposed, and everyone can see that the cheerful, charming persona he projected was a mask which has now well and truly slipped.

We are not the vultures here.

IamSlave · 02/06/2023 08:03

He's blaming homophobia
.. He said had it been hetro it would have been "wink wink nudge nudge".

GL123 · 02/06/2023 08:04

I’ve never seen the interviewer before but I like him, he gives me 24 hours in police custody vibes. He’s giving nothing away and just moving onto the next question

I asked if you'd be ok for your son to be put under so much pressure over something he'd done that he committed suicide. I guess from your answer you would be. Enough said.

AllGussiedUp · 02/06/2023 08:05

As for it being homophobic, that’s just more manipulation. No surprise from a master manipulator.

Just finished watching it. What a horrible little man. I’m glad his career is over. I don’t believe anything he says. People like him lie, lying is ‘their truth’. This is a last attempt for him to get back to what he was. No fucking chance.

he did cruelly discard the runner.

did he?

Around the 2020 Awards. The runner was apparentlt declaring his love for PS and shortly after the runner was dismissed and discarded. He also moved on to Loose Women.

Report if you're concerned @Haywirecity don't try to tell her what she can post.

Anyway, AFAICT, most of the confirmed details so far started as rumours, so this a case where the "gossip" was largely on point, I think. I haven't noticed anyone "making up rumours" on this thread, either.

NeedToThinkOfOne · 02/06/2023 08:07

It’s totally lost on you that you’re using the victim too, to justify this ongoing gossip and tearing down of someone else who-whether you like it or not- is also now a ‘victim’, that of a media witch hunt.

Again, I say, head over to Tattle, you’ll like it there.

GL123 · 02/06/2023 08:08

The wedding ring still on 😂 is he for real at this point?

flumpalamp · 02/06/2023 08:08

This is turning into a witch-hunt.

He had an affair with a 20 year old. Not an attractive thing but not a hanging offence.

The glee at the pile on.

Enfys1982 · 02/06/2023 08:08

Why are the BBC giving this piece of shit the platform to speak? Have they learned nothing from their Savile debacle? This man is pretty much cut from the same cloth. A true narc if ever I saw one. Not surprised at The Sun, but the BBC should know better.

LookAtThisMess · 02/06/2023 08:08

He is a manipulative, pathetic individual. If it was legal and consensual why was the relationship ‘unwise.’ He was fully aware of the power imbalance in the relationship. If the relationship was consensual and legal, why didn’t he talk about it when he came out as being gay? Why did he keep trying to hide the relationship? He has hired a lawyer for MM. There is still a huge power imbalance. He is still trying to control and manipulate the situation to make people including MM to feel sorry for him. Huge abuse of power and status.
