Gordon the Gopher could tell the whole sordid tale, right from the very beginning.
Someone needs to interview Gordon before Philip gets his hands on (in) him.

It’s very uncomfortable watching the enjoyment people are taking from this. It has nothing to do with sympathy about young men being groomed and everything to do with the same sort of delight people have always taken in public humiliations.

Willmafrockfit · 02/06/2023 07:19

i dont think there will be wink wink nudge nudge if mm was a female

at least i hope there wouldnt in this day and age

Well exactly. We've had Metoo and successive scandals and exposes. This isn't the 70s any more.

Yet, here you are. 🙄 x a million.

I think people need to get over this, and also remember Caroline Flack.

I think Philip Schofield has demonstrated that he is considerably more adept at managing the media than Caroline Flack. I really like Amol Rajan as an interviewer but this needed more of an Andrew Neil incisive interview style. Of course, Philip Schofield would not have agreed to by interviewed by someone like that. He should look up John Profumo as an example of someone who turned a scandal into something constructive.

Shouldbehoovering · 02/06/2023 07:22

The thing is, PS has made a career of being in the public eye. When you do this, your whole life will be under public scrutiny. There are so many questions, and even if it were true that this was a simple sexual relationship between a 20yr old man and a 51yr old one, I think the majority of people find that age gap a bit grim, especially as the older person always seems to be richer and/or have more power (and don’t think it’s a stretch to say the younger is usually more physically attractive). Throw in all the questions (and it’s all this new and changing info which is feeding the media frenzy), and it doesn’t get quietly swept away as people seek justification for their unease over the relationship. There is always smoke where there is fire - I am sure there is a lot which is being covered up.

Justleaveitblankthen · 02/06/2023 07:22

Carol McGiffin has also done an interview.
Says that a very well liked and excellent runner was replaced by Phil's lover and everyone was agog.

I hope the original runner was given a better gig because that's pretty shitty 🤨
(sorry to derail, didn't want to start yet another thread 😂)

I’m not watching Philip Schofield or enjoying his downfall. I’m commenting on a thread here.

Observing that the Jeremy Kyle show was distasteful didn’t make me part of the audience, did it? Hmm

If you think you can perceive "enjoyment" maybe you're projecting?

There's not even the grim satisfaction of thinking we have improved accountability. This rumbled on for years and was only exposed because the DM (of all the rags) somehow had leverage to force a confession from him.

There’ll be a book next. He’s going down the same PR/money making route as H&M

FfeminyddCymraeg · 02/06/2023 07:26

God, he’s insufferable, isn’t he?

I’d like to hear MM side. Apparently we can because there is/was no super injunction or NDA 🙄🙄

piedbeauty · 02/06/2023 07:26

Yuk. He's not sorry he did it; he's only sorry he got caught. As my mum used to say to me.

Great crisis management by his team, though.

Willmafrockfit · 02/06/2023 07:26

surely he was 55?
not 51
he is 61 now

You find it so ‘distasteful’ watching people enjoying the so-called enjoyment people are taking from this, that here you are, watching them.

If you’re so pious, I’m sure you have far better places to be?

But oh no, you’re desperately refreshing the thread - being as ‘distasteful’ as the rest of us.

Prove me wrong - go on.. 🙄

Wildflowersinthemeadow · 02/06/2023 07:27

People are falling over themselves to comment on it @JeandeServiette and to mock and scorn and sneer and smirk.

Disliking that doesn’t mean I like what PS did, anymore than those against public hangings liked the original crimes. I just personally find the public condemnation when something like this happens - and it isn’t just PS, it happens in a thousand small ways every day - uncomfortable.

There are no winners here.

Inkanta · 02/06/2023 07:27

Watched a clip of this and also the sun interview. Doesn't feel sincere. It appears to be getting found out and having to own up that 'devistates' him. Loss of reputation. Cringey to watch but at the same time fascinating. He has a fawning feel sorry for me look about him.

Wildflowersinthemeadow · 02/06/2023 07:27

‘desperately refreshing the thread’ 😂

GL123 · 02/06/2023 07:28

About to watch it, saw a lot of the clips last night. I’m sure I saw a quote saying people make jokes all the time to him about jumping queues but that was ‘when he used to go out’ because he won’t be going out anymore. It’s the kind of thing a spoiled child would say. Yes part of me can’t help but have sympathy for anyone being hounded by the press etc but this interview doesn’t seem to be doing him any favours and what on earth is the vape all about?

Careful, I got a post deleted for saying that.

GtG has shit-hot lawyers.

stillherenow · 02/06/2023 07:28

I wonder if this is to try and stop more coming out - manipulating MM by threatening suicide to stop him telling his side of the story.

knittingaddict · 02/06/2023 07:28

JeandeServiette · 02/06/2023 06:24

Do you think it will achieve what he wants it to achieve?

No.

Not seen the whole interview, but could go as well for him as it did for Prince Andrew - ie very badly indeed.

He's got some brass neck even attempting to put a spin on this.

JeandeServiette · 02/06/2023 07:29

I think it's the patent insincerity and cynicism that is attracting scorn @Wildflowersinthemeadow What would be more appropriate than scorn at insincerity from someone who has had an inappropriate relationship with a much younger subordinate?

Reminds me so much of my ex who was violent - do something awful and then break down/ say you’re suicidal and all will be forgiven. Narcissism.

My daughter's ex was the same. All very predictable.

Willmafrockfit · 02/06/2023 07:30

i think it will be good for him actually
his itv career may be over but i am sure he can reinvent himself somewhere

Yes his crisis management team are very busy today as we can quite clearly all see, I will give them that .
