Rubbish title but hopefully you know what I mean.

For me, those who spring to mind are:
Sir David Attenborough
Tom Hanks
Usain Bolt
Judy Dench

I can't believe how many people were shocked about Rolf Harris. It just always looked so obvious to me that he was...something. He always gave me a deeply unpleasant feeling that hit right in the solar plexus; all that panting and wobble boarding. I used to say this to my family often - I couldn't bear to watch him as a child and later on when he was on that animal programme. My family were still shocked when it all came to light but I still can't look at him without feeling sick to my stomach. It just looks so obvious to me and always did! The only true shock was Stuart Hall.

When I was little there were men that mum would switch off muttering ‘dreadful man, horrible man’. RH was one of them.

She had an absolute 6th sense for abusive men and could spot them at 50 paces.

Hugh B considered quite rum I think. Some rumours a few years back. Don't think he's done anything awful to anyone that they didn't agree to, but unusual tastes apparently.

Only bad thing I can think of is that both broke the boycott and performed at Sun City during the Apartheid years.

Yes, but so did lots of other big stars such as Cher, Frank Sinatra, Status Quo, Elton John, Boney M, Shirley Bassey, Queen, etc., so I don't read much into it.

Agree with Clive Myrie. He comes across as a very decent sort of man.

Yes he was who I was thinking of but couldn’t remember his name also George Anagya …newsreader…probably wrong spelling!

allthewoes · 01/06/2023 17:15

Jamie Oliver. I know some people find him annoying but he's always come across as a proper family man. Never seen him in the press falling over drunk or hanging out with other women.

KittenKong · 01/06/2023 17:24

DS was doing a cookery class in one of his cafes a while back and Jamie Oliver came in.

DS spotted him and marched over to introduce himself. Even though he was on his way to a meeting he stopped and spend about 20 minutes chatting to DS, asking him about recipes he liked, how to make pasta, if he was enjoying the class etc before he was tapped on the shoulder and went off. On our way out after the class they manager came over with a goodie bag for DS (he said that Jamie has asked him to give it to DS).

I never particularly liked him but he was so patient and took time to speak to DS and (I know he has loads of kids) engaged really well with a little kid.

I'm going to join the name droppers, and say that I've worked with Matt Baker: he really was as nice as he seems on the TV. Obviously I don't know that for sure, but I'd be astounded if he was a wrong un. Wildlife and countryside presenters tend to be very nice.

I know Matt Baker well . He is friends with my SIL and can confirm he really is a lovely guy. Have got great pics of him with my children at various Birthday Parties when they were younger.

That's lovely.

My old boss and her boyfriend went to an industry awards dinner where Dermot O'Leary was presenting the awards. As her boyfriend is a key figure in the industry and also very high up in the company that were sponsoring the awards they were on the same table as Dermot and his girlfriend for the pre-awards dinner.

She said that he and his girlfriend were both absolutely lovely. Very chatty and unassuming and really interested in others on the table - their careers, likes/dislikes etc. He was also very good at presenting the awards, no sarky 'jokes' or smart Alec remarks, just easy and fun. My boss hadn't really heard of him beforehand, but she was definitely a fan after that.

That's lovely.

I still have a photo somewhere of the two of them (he popped back to the kitchen to see how the cooking was going and said his pizza was lovely).

Well this has confirmed my love for Dermott 😀

Iolo Williams for me (off of Springwatch). I'd be gutted if he was a wrong un. Like others I interpreted wrong un as Jimmy Savile/Rolf Harris type wrong uns rather than 'was a bit grumpy once when being pestered by the public'.

Also David Tennant, David Attenborough, David Mitchell, Jim Broadbent, Jennifer Saunders, Jonathan Van Tam and Robert Webb (JVT and Robert Webb are both from my home town).

I have to agree.

The lyrics of most of his songs were also decidedly 'off', the more so because they were clearly aimed at a juvenile target audience. I found it impossible even at the time to believe the innuendo had escaped him.

isitshe · 02/06/2023 19:23

Jarvis Cocker

shadypines · 02/06/2023 22:30

I had exactly the same feeling about Rolf Harris, as a child he gave me the creeps, just watching him made me feel miserable.

shadypines · 02/06/2023 22:41

Clive Myrie, seems sound as a pound, he just can't be a bad 'un.

Bradley Walsh..DD recently met him, reports that what you see is what you get..a down to earth decent guy, again , just can't be a bad 'un!!!

CountingMareep · 03/06/2023 21:22

Jamie Oliver does have an irritating persona and doesn’t always pitch his message correctly or have the political skills to manage the tougher parts of his healthy-eating campaign. But he’s not trained as a politician or PR professional. If anything, he’s a bit too sincere, to the point of naivety, and he’s been mercilessly pulled apart by the press and Twitterati.

I have no doubt about his integrity.

NeedWineNow · 03/06/2023 22:07

I would be so disappointed if Clive Mirey turned out to be a bad ‘un. We’re watching his Italy series and he seems so lovely and sincere. Same with Stanley Tucci who I love.

sonicmum2002 · 03/06/2023 22:10

Alan Davies! Based on nothing other than me spotting him in a pub in Edinburgh during the Fridge 30 years ago and recognising him ... he gave me a fab heartwarming smile and waved across the bar. He looked genuinely a lovely bloke.
