Rubbish title but hopefully you know what I mean.

For me, those who spring to mind are:
Sir David Attenborough
Tom Hanks
Usain Bolt
Judy Dench

John Noakes (going back a bit there)
Gary Lineker
Sarah Lancashire
Marcus Rashford
Paul McCartney
Betty Boothroyd
Sharon Horgan
Rob Delaney

I have complete faith in them though.

Definitely rumours that something unsavoury will come out for one of those. No idea if true.

@mars27 Sorry, do you not have access to google? There are a few people mentioned on this thread that i havent heard of either, but im sure i can find them if i really want to know.

hevs03 · 31/05/2023 13:45

Peter Kay is supposedly quite moody / moany according to reports from builders/contractors who worked on his house. However I think a lot of comedians probably are, can't be funny all the time

But the thread said famous, I don't think an American a cappella group from Arlington, Texas (yes, I had to Google) are famous in the UK by any stretch of the imagination, but you do you I suppose 🤷🏻‍♀️

LaMaG · 31/05/2023 13:48

Sheridan Smith! Don't know why but I feel like she could be my friend! Such a talent.

Brendan Gleeson

Boris Johnson

KIDDING!!!!

Jeremy Paxman, Margaret Atwood.

Paul weller's always seemed very principled.
Ade Edmondson ( RIP Rick!)

Great question

I met Paul Weller at an Ocean Colour Scene concert many years ago, I was (still am) a huge fan so I approached him and politely said Hello and that it was good to see him, was he enjoying the concert, he told me to piss off. So that was nice.
Still love his music though

AxolotlOnions · 31/05/2023 13:50

None of them, we're all human after all.

LunaNorth · 31/05/2023 13:52

RedToothBrush · 31/05/2023 12:02

That's the rumour. It's all a bit Daisy Jones by all accounts.

Not really a rumour - he admits it in his autobiography.

yellowsmileyface · 31/05/2023 14:03

Danny Devito
Richard Ayoade
Melissa Joan Hart

LouisCatorze · 31/05/2023 14:07

I've come across Paul Weller in my time. He was very grumpy!

Mars27 · 31/05/2023 14:11

@hevs03 There's a Twitter thread by James Blunt at the time Keith Flint from Prodigy passed away in which he tells the story of when "You're Beautiful" was at the top of the charts and he had been nominated by the Brit Awards. He says something along the lines that Noel Gallagher (unsurprising) and Paul Weller refused to shake his hand, called him names and said his music was shit, just stopping short of wishing death on him.

Keith Flint in the meantime approached him and said he was delighted for him and was lovely overall. The good ones are always taken early. And yes, Paul Weller is a massive cunt

StayGoldenPonyGirl · 31/05/2023 14:12

@Mars27 I know Pentatonix - they're great and very popular internationally, especially with choirs/music groups etc.

What a weird and nasty thing to pick on!

AlwaysMissingHome · 31/05/2023 14:18

@Mars27 I know Pentatonix. Not everyone is from the UK, there is life in other countries! 🙄Although I lived in the U.K. when I heard of them. They’ve worked with Dolly Parton who has spoken of how good she thinks they are and a lot of people have mentioned her on this thread.

Strugglingtodomybest · 31/05/2023 10:45

All what necklacing? Do you have him confused with his wife perhaps?

Oh my mistake! It was only his wife who in 1986, stated, "With our boxes of matches, and our necklaces, we shall liberate this country", which was widely seen as an explicit endorsement of necklacing.

For anyone not in the know, necklacing involves a tyre being placed around the neck of a victim and then set alight; the tyre stays around the victim’s neck until he or she dies.

Lovely people, the Mandelas. And South Africa has gone from strength to strength and isn’t dangerous at all now.

Mars27 · 31/05/2023 14:21

@AlwaysMissingHome @StayGoldenPonyGirl You seriously need to calm down. I just asked who they were and I stand by the fact that they're not in the same league as a massive band like, I don't know, The Rolling Stones, chill please.

Haha. Loving the hyperbole - my post was clearly unhinged and I need to chill 😆

Well now you have heard of them. I heard about them because DC nursery used to play them and the kids sang along. Agree with the PP who said they do seem nice and wholesome and it would be disappointing if that wasn't so.

Snowfairyxx · 31/05/2023 14:38

Cillian Murphy seems like he is nice guy.

AlwaysMissingHome · 31/05/2023 14:44

@Mars27 Confused Lots of people mentioned aren’t as famous as the Stones.

blacksax · 31/05/2023 14:45

This strikes me as exactly the sort of thread the gutter press love, because it gives them ideas of who can be next on their 'Ooh goody, lets dig into their background and see what dirt we can find' list.

Verv · 31/05/2023 14:50

Dolly Parton, David Attenborough, JK Rowling, Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, Penelope Wilton, Ricky Gervais.

TrickOrRuddyTreat · 31/05/2023 14:58

I've never met Keanu Reeves (sadly!) but I was at Festival of Speed a few years back when he was there racing a bike he'd built himself and he was very unstarry. He was mixing with the other riders and non-celebs and chatting happily about their bikes and his and looking like he was having a lovely time. No entourage, no special treatment, just one of the lads. Seemed (from a distance at least) like a nice down to earth guy.

I watched the INXS doc recently and it showed the ceremony when Michael Hutchence presented an award to Oasis and Noel G said, 'Hasbeens shouldn't give awards to gonna-bes.' The hurt and shock on Hutchence's face are devastating.
Noel G is a twat.

Pity Paul W is too. His music is still great though.

LouisCatorze · 31/05/2023 15:08

Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher were definitely mates, so makes sense that they are cut off the same cloth.

Hellenabe · 31/05/2023 15:10

@MarkWithaC i know someone who has met both the brothers and apparently Noel is a massive coke head but Liam is a lot nicer than you'd expect.

Noel has refused to appear at the Ariana Grande gig after the Manchester bombing because Liam would be there and that says it all, really. (still love Oasis music for all my sins).
