You can't argue that HW didn't know when every fucker on MN has known for donkeys years.

Hell MN is more gossip worthy than the infamous side bar of shame.

What I find slightly difficult in all this is a feeling that homophobia makes it worse in public perception than other inappropriate relationships between older men and young colleagues. And also PS's actual age. What if he'd been 40 and the young colleague had been 20? Is that worse or the same?

I think it's pretty much the same of course, and if he were heterosexual and the groomed person had been female, it wouldn't be quite such the scandal, unfortunately.

Humphrey Bogart was mid 40s, Lauren Bacall 19. Charles was 30ish and Diana 19. Hell, my MIL was 16 when she got married, FIL 21!

It all gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Those women were at least all of consenting age when they met their husbands, even if the age gaps are concerning.

A closer comparator to PS' "affair" is the relationship of Mandy Smith and Bill Wyman, which did indeed cause a lot of negative comment 30 years ago.

"Barrymore is slowly making a come back with a lot of support on social media. People have forgotten all about the unsolved murder in his home"

Hmm, maybe but I'll believe it when I see it. Lots of support on social media doesn't really mean much in the grand scheme of things. Plus the world of show business moves on fast and Barrymore is already 71.

Ditto the pp suggesting HW will hang about in a low level way and make a comeback. She might hope for this but ...

The Trafalgar St James Hotel ( a Hilton) has pictures of Mick Jagger over each bed
When I questioned why it was appropriate they denied any knowledge if his sexual history

And lots of people will never forget the poor man who died in the pool while Barrymore ran away.

Social media is one thing but no production company would ever need or want to bring back that criminal.

Nicknacky · 26/05/2023 21:45

I think This Morning’s days are numbered. I think there will be a shake up of ITV morning tv, it was due it anyway as the format is stale but I think this will be the catalyst.

I don’t think we will see Holly back on it at all.

Blueink · 26/05/2023 21:46

HW appears fake and self serving, the way PS left reflects badly on her and a new start would be better with different presenters

MayThe4th · 26/05/2023 21:46

If Eamon had really felt so outraged he would have left ITV, not carried on until he was fired.

He was a well known journalist, he would have got work somewhere else, in fact he went to Sky for eleven years after he left ITV, and now he has sunk to the depths of being on GB news.

I don’t think those who are speaking out now are brave, they’re doing damage limitation themselves. They don’t want to be seen to have been in the know when they were all along.

It’s not brave to suddenly step up and say “I knew all along” when it becomes public knowledge. Brave is to speak out and stand by your principles. And none of the people speaking out now did that when it mattered.

For those nasty people trying to spread rumours about a 'famous tennis fan' - we know you're talking about Cliff Richard and the allegations were false. The alleged crimes are so awful that people should think more than twice before trying to get validation on social media by spreading them.

Dan Wootton on Twitter is naming Carolyn McCall!

We were told if women got into positions of power that things would be better. It's just a female psychopath instead of a male one in reality.

As I said above I was only mentioning the names that keep being bandied about online in these contexts. I have no evidence either party is involved with any offences of any nature.

OK, I accept that, but how would you feel about someone saying "I'm not saying Letsallthinkofaname is a sex offender but other people are saying it"?

BTW I'm not a huge Cliff Richard fan (well, not a fan) but I've always had time for Paul Gambaccini and the way he was treated by the police and by the media was an absolute fucking disgrace. And I don't often swear.

Letsallthinkofaname · 26/05/2023 21:54

I agree. I've reported my own post and asked for it to be removed.

He can't really deny it. There are countless pictures already online of them together along with social media posts and witness accounts.

I don't think it was a real affair as it seems they had an open marriage but if he denied the relationship was happening, I can see why ITV and Holly are fuming. Again, though, given the clear evidence one can find with a very basic google search, ITV, Holly or his family could quickly have presented that evidence to him.
