When you don't feel like cooking?

I came across the thread about discontinued food from M&S and since I've never tried their ready meals, I'm keen to give them a shot for dinner.

OP posts:

Their steak cut chips 😏

CountessBathorysBeautySecrets · 26/05/2023 19:26

Their sliced boule de campagne and some salty butter. My favourite supermarket bread.

spidereggs · 26/05/2023 19:26

Four cheese ravioli every time.

HappyHolidai · 26/05/2023 19:27

Lasagne ravioli: amazing with just a bit of butter.

Crunchymum · 26/05/2023 19:27

It's not a ready meal but any thread M&S related has to highlight my utter outrage at them discontinuing my favourite Bang Bang Dip. Fuckers.

(And with pitta yes I'd happily eat it for dinner!! I'd scoff the whole pot though!!)

BarelyLiterate · 26/05/2023 19:28

Gastropub fish pie & lasagne are both excellent and in the dine-in deal. The Gastropub moussaka was even better, but that has been discontinued. All the curries are also fantastic.

For pudding, the melting middle chocolate puds are superb. Serve with good quality vanilla ice cream.

Riverlee · 26/05/2023 19:29

Chocolate Swiss rolls - the ones in the fridge with fresh cream. Served with a blob of vanilla ice cream - delicious.

Please tell me this is not true ! If they stop making the Mexican trifle I am going to demonstrate

We’ve just discovered the Gastropoda lasagne and it’s become a firm favourite.

Crunchymum · 26/05/2023 19:30

It's missing from my local store (decent size food hall and was previously stocked) and I can't seem to find it if I look on Ocado?

I'm only just getting over them discontinuing their chicken escalopes!

citylifemummy · 26/05/2023 19:39

The Gastropub lamb casserole... 🤤

JaffaCake70 · 26/05/2023 19:39

The Mushroom Pappardelle ready meal is lush

OldTinHat · 26/05/2023 19:39

Their ratatouille.

NoTimeForScams · 26/05/2023 19:41

Chicken in white sauce. If you can be bothered, it’s lovely on pasta or new potatoes. If you can’t, just whack a tin into a bowl and mocrowave it then dunk bread in, it’s lush!

Twwodoorsaway · 26/05/2023 19:42

Smoked haddock chowder (chilled soup aisle). I love it. Like Cullen skink which is my favourite soup.

TheBermudaTriangle · 26/05/2023 19:42

@mrsbyers Mexican Trifle?!? Shock

inamarina · 26/05/2023 19:48

I love the M&S nutty salads mentioned on the other thread 😋

Papergirl1968 · 26/05/2023 19:49

Their cottage pies and their filled yorkshire puddings, although the Yorkshire puds are now £5.
I've just seen their latest as about traceability though featuring black cows and I wonder how many customers it will put off because they're so darned cute.

madeinmanc · 26/05/2023 19:58

They briefly did large pasta shells stuffed with spinach and ricotta in a tomato sauce, topped with breadcrumbs and pine nuts, during the pandemic (or was it just before? that all blends into one now). It was soooo delicious, the best veggie ready meal I've ever had 🙁

MsFannySqueers · 26/05/2023 19:58

I shop mostly at M&S so obviously really like the majority of their products. A couple of things I don’t feel are as good as other brands are their lasagna. I personally prefer Charlie Bigham’s. I also don’t rate their bread except the Cranberry and Pecan loaf. Of all the supermarkets I find CoOp bread the best, they do similar to a ‘boule de campagne’ but call it a white cob😂. It’s really delicious and also CoOp olive bread.

Kyse23 · 26/05/2023 19:59

Herby feta dip. Yes it's salty but it's feta so...
it's addictive!

MsFannySqueers · 26/05/2023 20:05

@Crunchymum have you tried the chicken tenders? Not quite escalopes but tasty. They come with lots of different coatings I like the tempura but I think they do a breadcrumbed one. Also they include my favourite ever phrase ‘to cook from frozen’.

vejazzlement · 26/05/2023 20:05

Completely not helpful, but their cheese tasters are the food of the Gods. Wotsits are very poor by comparison.

I have been known to have them for dinner, with a glass of wine.

buckeejit · 26/05/2023 20:07

I'm going away for a few days on Monday & making a shopping list from M&S here.

I'll add their seeded flatbreads & japanese veggie fritters, prawn toast, mini veg spring rolls & ossau iraty cheese
