I like them. I'm glad there are.people doing annoying shit like this to try and stop us being so terrifyingly complacent about climate change.

You might not think this if you were the one trying to get a sick child to hospital or missing your Dad's funeral.

Or dealing with the effects of climate change?

Or dealing with the effects of climate change?

How would you feel if you had a sick relative being transported to hospital and the actions from some over privileged posh scum, blocking the road, caused them to die?

Papernotplastic · 25/05/2023 21:33

If you want to benefit the environment, don’t have children. It’s the biggest positive impact you can make.

Prescottdanni123 · 25/05/2023 21:38

@ThankmelaterOkay

You are talking to a conservationist that works for an environmental charity. I'd much prefer people to do something that is actually helpful than waste time gluing themselves to roads and trashing gardens.

Papernotplastic · 25/05/2023 21:39

Of course that would require some personal sacrifice rather than just smugly splashing a bit of orange about and feeling like you’ve achieved something.

Damnspot · 25/05/2023 21:25

Or dealing with the effects of climate change?

Human life here and now is more important than what may happen based on scientists predictions about the environment in x years.
Plus chances are it will be big tech that save the earth,

Heaven forbid the protesters give up all the tech that they use that contributes to environmental damage

Well they won't be doing that in a hurry. Absolute hypocrites that they are.

comfyslippets · 25/05/2023 21:50

Was so annoyed by this!

Damnspot · 25/05/2023 21:16

Today? That didn't happen today. I'm talking about the CFS.

You said in a previous post that you find them funny. You're either desperate for attention or have very low morals.

SideBob · 25/05/2023 21:59

people banging on about a climate crisis tend to be the biggest hypocrites out there

There are some who are hypocritical. But also, people seem to think not living in a cave and drinking dirty puddle water makes you a hypocrite.

Why would they give up technology that they already own, that may have been passed onto them or bought secondhand? Technology is fairly essential - that doesn't mean we can't be more responsible about how it's made and consumed. We can criticise their methods of protesting without being absurd about it.

Damnspot · 25/05/2023 21:22

"We have to note that the trope of derided protesters selfishly killing an innocent victim by blocking an ambulance is a common one in recent years — it popped up in July 2016 in reference to Black Lives Matter protesters, and it typically follows the familiar pattern of an anonymous social media report lacking in detail claiming that a highly sympathetic victim (e.g., a child in need of a transplant or the parent of a young child) was killed by the actions of uncaring protesters, all accompanied by an unrelated image of a protest in some unidentified location"

Snopes.

It stands to reason that if a bunch of over privileged posh scum have glued themselves to the road, the ambulances and fire services might have a problem getting through. Causing delays that put people's lives at risk.

dayswithaY · 25/05/2023 22:04

On a separate note, why was security so lax at Chelsea? If it wasn’t for the woman with the hose saving the day, they’d still be standing there.

What about the environmental cost of using the internet? It's not just the equipment. Or is it a case of out of sight out of mind. Much better to preach at and disrupt the lives of ordinary working people who don't have a wealthy family to bank roll them.

To paraphrase the old saying - It is better to stay quiet and be thought a fool than to share your views and remove any doubt.

Not quite. It's stained the stone floor and is irremovable.
