Do you work better in the office or from home?

It depends on the mood I’m in. I must admit I am more focused in the office but buying a ticket to travel in and usually lunch once there seems to cost me lots more than staying at home. Plus I start earlier when I work from home

I prefer to wfh as transport in my area has been cut since lockdown so a bit of a hassle to get in. But once I am in the office, I am less productive, than wfh, but like the atmosphere. Go in once or twice a week.

Depends what I'm doing that day, and who else is in the office. I do go in a couple of days a week but quite often I have work where I just need to get my head down and focus with no interruptions. It's much better doing that at home. But sometimes it is more helpful to be just across a desk from someone so we can quickly talk through things.

hoophoophooray · 22/05/2023 19:28

Office definitely. I get much more done and the cross fertilisation of ideas between team members is much better as well

MedSchoolRat · 22/05/2023 19:45

Right now i am spending bursts of 10 minutes editing & refining models. They then take 2 hours per iteration, & I skive off for 2 hours because no one is answering my emails (12 projects I'm being ignored on). That situation works well being at home.

In general office is much more productive, when I have lots to do.

hattie43 · 22/05/2023 19:53

Much more productive WFH . No wasting time with interruptions, much more positive mindset without office negativity or listening to the constant moaning . Saves money , commuting, lunches , clothes.

Peppermint81 · 22/05/2023 19:56

Home! In office I chat to people too much, or meetings where you can't do other work on computer like at home etc way more productive at home. Plus way less stressful!

Hedjwitch · 22/05/2023 19:57

Office.
Better work station and facilities, fewer distractions

DorisParchment · 22/05/2023 19:59

Oh and because not all desks in the office have second screens, that is definitely a downside and slows me down in my work

I do way more work from home. We go in twice a week and are like prisoners let out, chatting a large proportion of the day.

User1529865 · 22/05/2023 20:03

Office

Bringonthesunforthewashing · 22/05/2023 20:05

Home 100%. Pit more hours in, no distractions.

Never worked harder

JamSandle · 22/05/2023 20:05

Home!

LostInSpaceRaiders · 22/05/2023 20:09

100% more productive at home. I tend to get the square root of fuck all done in the office due to poor internet connection (I work from a cloud based system), constant interruptions from people who just want to have a whinge at me rather than having a genuine reason to need to talk to me, having to go across a carpark to get access to a bloody drink, and being in bloody pain all the time due to a lack of decent desk/chair/screen set up that suits my needs. It really frustrates me that I’m forced to participate in this re-branded form of presenteeism borne out of archaic views that someone working from home must be tossing it off watching daytime tv and getting nothing done 😐

IAteAllTheTomatoes · 22/05/2023 20:10

Home but I do nothing but work during those hours.

No housework, no TV- use work.

midnightblue12 · 22/05/2023 20:15

In the office. I have people I can refer to if I'm stuck and make use of facilities/other teams in the office.
At home I'm on my own and I get distracted easilily and can sometimes make sketchy choices when I can't get through to anyone to ask for help 🙈

GOODCAT · 22/05/2023 20:19

I prefer to be in the office but if I need to focus I am better at home.

Oysterbabe · 22/05/2023 20:21

Office by a lot. I cycle in and take lunch so it doesn't cost me more. I go in 75% of the time.

Thislife1 · 22/05/2023 20:23

At home, definitely. I book face-to-face meetings in on my 2/3 office days a week, go for lunch, sometimes do an exercise class, but don’t expect to get much work done. I love my days at home - I can think properly and do deep work at my own pace without distraction.

BHRK · 22/05/2023 20:24

100% home

AnAngelAtMyTableWithMe · 22/05/2023 20:24

Definitely home but probably depends on type of work you do

RoseMartha · 22/05/2023 20:25

I prefer wfh.

EbonyRaven · 22/05/2023 20:26

Home. 100%. Smile

SallyWD · 22/05/2023 20:28

Home. I just spend too much time chatting at work!

DelurkingAJ · 22/05/2023 20:30

Depends what I’m doing. If I’m working on a complicated model then I’m better off at home because someone popping over to see if I want a cup of tea will cost me because I’ll have to work out where I am again. Equally writing up minutes and other such dull things are better at home because I have fewer justifiable distractions! On the other hand, if I have nothing urgent on or am stuck with a problem I need to talk out then the office is amazing. I’d also go crackers from lack of adult interaction if I purely WFHd.
