Are you comfortable being naked?

NC and no, this isn't a weird pervy thread! I was chatting to a friend recently and we ended up talking about body image/nakedness.

She lives with her partner and wouldn't think twice about wandering out the bathroom or around the bedroom naked. Me on the other hand, I'm really self conscious and I'd definitely always wear a towel or a robe. I have too many wobbly bits to feel comfortable wandering around in the nod when there's someone else there.

So I was just wondering how others feel on this subject? Are you a cover up sort of person or are you totally fine to wander about at home in the nip?

I don't mind being naked in front of my husband. I wouldn't walk around naked in front of my 3 year old. I remember my parents walking around nude when I was a child and the images are still burned into my brain Envy

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 21/05/2023 20:41

I'm comfortable being naked. DD often seems to wander in whilst I'm putting body cream on and I do ask her to wait until I'm dressed but that's more because she is getting older now. I really don't care otherwise. I wouldn't do it in front of friends, neighbours anyone that isn't her and DH and thpugh lol

BogRollBOGOF · 21/05/2023 20:41

I'm fine with functional nudity.
My body's got scars and lumpy, wobbly bits, but it's my one body to get me through life and in return I look after it and do cool things with it.

I've reined in a bit since having children.

InSpainTheRain · 21/05/2023 20:45

I'm fine with being naked in front of DP. Wouldn't go downstairs without clothes though as we are a bit overlooked. I'm wobbly everywhere and on the wrong side of 50!

TakeMyStrongHand · 21/05/2023 20:47

I wander around after a shower as it's 50/50 whether I will remember the dressing gown. In summer, it may be too hot and I'll wear underwear or something that's still way more exposed than I would wear in the garden.

What I absolutely don't understand is people who sit around naked with willies flopping around and poo particles on soft furnishings! Envy not envy

UndercoverCop · 21/05/2023 20:49

I don't walk around naked when I'm home alone, pants are a minimum. Topless I'm ok with
Happily naked around DS whereas DH won't get naked in front of him 🤷‍♀️

TheFluffiestHobo · 21/05/2023 20:49

Team naked here. I spent a week on a nudist beach and it was amazing.

Assignedtoworryyourmother · 21/05/2023 20:52

I don't feel embarrassed about being naked, but don't really feel there's any need to be. I shower, dry, get dressed. Wouldn't really occur to me not to. When I was married I felt the same. I don't really want to see anyone else naked either, I think average human bodies aren't very attractive without at least underwear.

orangeclubsarebest · 21/05/2023 20:54

Yeah I am. I don't really care. I'm overweight, have stretch marks etc. I was with my husband for 14 years and always was comfortable naked. I've recently met someone new and pretty much comfortable naked from the start.

bunnybunnybunnybunny · 21/05/2023 21:01

Yes.

Weirdly, am far more self-conscious when fully dressed.

Not really. I'm fully naked for about 10 minutes per day. Otherwise I've always got something on even if it's just a towel.

SSCCLL · 21/05/2023 21:09

I'm naked in front of everyone and I'm about 4 stone overweight 🤣🤣

Totally comfortable being naked around DH even though I have put on loads of weight in the 43 years we have been married. I was a size 10 but am now a size 20 mainly due to the medication I take.

I sleep naked as hate wearing anything in bed.

We used to go to naturist beaches in the UK and abroad but I wouldn't do that now I am much bigger

Yes! I've seen it with my own eyes. Even photos on social media. It's rife. 🤮🤮🤮

HinnyInAPinny · 21/05/2023 21:14

If my adult sons aren't visiting then yes, I have no issues about walking around naked in front of either my husband or my adult daughters.
Both me and him sleep naked too.

TakeMyStrongHand · 21/05/2023 21:14

Not full frontal photos obviously. But like people and kids lying on the sofa or bed. Why you would put any picture like that online, especially a child!

Tinkeytonkoldfruit · 21/05/2023 21:16

We have no problem with nudity, in fact currently sat naked with my DH watching Sunday night TV, although I do have a cosy blanket on me.

Beachhutnut · 21/05/2023 21:17

In front of my husband yes but no-one else

rhow · 21/05/2023 21:20

I spend a lot of time naked around my young children and husbands. I'm 2 stone overweight but my body is my body and it's not going to change due to thyroid and PCOS.

DinosApple · 21/05/2023 21:40

I don't mind at all for DH or DC (teen DDs) if they wander in.

DH wears a towel or clothes wandering about though and is much more self conscious.

MyMachineAndMe · 21/05/2023 21:44

I didn't used to be comfortable naked, to the point where I refused to ever go on top when doing it. Now I'm in my 40s at the fattest I've ever been and am fine. As pp, I wouldn't come downstairs with nothing on but am happy to wander upstairs.

SundaynightattheLondon · 21/05/2023 21:47

My mother, plus my DH since, have encouraged me to be body confident so I have always walked round nude upstairs and sleep without nightwear.
The comment about scars reminds me that when I had a hysterectomy I asked the surgeon to place the scar near to that of my c-section and appendectomy. He was reluctant (as it would be bigger) but they’re all in the same place and, looking down, I can’t see them!

IAteAllTheTomatoes · 21/05/2023 21:58

No issues with nudity with current or past partners but I wouldn't be half as confident naked in front of a female friend.

I find women, myself included, are much harsher critics of our bodies, then men.

Magnalux · 21/05/2023 19:54

No I cover up too.. I’m very uncomfortable naked. My body is ok, I’m in reasonable shape, not overweight. Dh couldn’t care less he’s very comfortable in his own skin. He can’t get his head around my attitude at all, we’re together nearly 20 years, he’s never once said one negative thing to me, he’s very complimentary but I don’t know why I just absolutely hate it!!

Because we live in a world of perfect womens bodies shoved in our faces in every aspect of life.
