Just that really..

OP posts:
Justgorgeous · 21/05/2023 18:56

Vegas.

anotherside · 21/05/2023 18:58

Mallorca exceeded by expectations. Parts of it are lovely.

Blueink · 21/05/2023 18:59

New York
Amsterdam
Malta

Love Paris though

Whichnumbers · 21/05/2023 19:02

Budapest. Virtually no outside space and full of backpackers and bars catering to them.

there is a large park, the riverside walks, how much outside space do you want in a city?

Whowhatwherewhenwhy1 · 21/05/2023 19:02

Geneva. Horrible, rude, unfriendly, stuck up and money obsessed. Lived there and could not wait to leave.

spacer · 21/05/2023 19:02

San Francisco.

Wimin123 · 21/05/2023 19:02

Edinburgh was disappointing- loads of young men and assorted drunks singing and swearing into the early hours. Shouldn’t have stayed so centrally perhaps?
Loved Malta so interesting
Hated Gibraltar so boring

Solonge · 21/05/2023 19:02

Capri, Italian Isle of Wight.

ForbiddenColour · 21/05/2023 19:03

The Algarve - went as everyone I know goes and rates it. Completely underwhelmed.

Italy - overrated? 😱

I know! And the pp that said nothing about it was beautiful? WTAF, I doubt they would have said that if they had stayed at our amazing rented villa in Tuscany near San Gimignano. It was so beautiful I could have wept.

Straightomyhead · 21/05/2023 19:08

Another one saying the Eden Project and we went with Tesco vouchers so didn't pay to get in. Just wasn't that big and everything like food was so expensive there. My mum and dad recently went when they were on holiday in Cornwall and said something similar. Just couldn't really explain it.

We really enjoyed Cornwall other than that. States in Falmouth and went to the Lizard as had heard back things about Lands End like others had mentioned.

anotherside · 21/05/2023 19:09

Loved Majorca - and everywhere else I’ve been in Spain including Girona, Valencia, Seville. Except Barcelona: unfriendly people, a bit tacky, and not much to justify the hype.

Whatnow321 · 21/05/2023 19:10

Another vote for Bali

Straightomyhead · 21/05/2023 19:10

Also all these people saying Pisa. We really stayed in Pisa and got the train to Florence and Lucca for day trips. Thought Pisa was so beautiful, the tower Duomo and bastiatry was lovely and. Although we are people who enjoy looking around cathedrals though so if you don't like doing that then I could see why it's had some of the previous reply's.
Also if you walk about 10 minutes away from the tower there are the most beautiful restaurants. Of course it's touristy but not like right next to the tower.

I thought Lourdes was a surprisingly spiritual place. I hadn’t expected it to be. I had expected the tacky shops which we also enjoyed, trying to find the tackiest ornaments. The grotto, though, was very beautiful and ‘holy’ for want of a better word and the river was lovely. Everyone was very friendly.

Kind regards

Egypt - loved the resort, couldn't go outside comfortably for leering men, even dressing very conservatively did nothing. Would never go back.

hattie43 · 21/05/2023 19:19

Taj Mahal

Interestingly, we went to Majorca a few years ago and I had really low expectations but I thought it was stunning.

Me too. I had low expectations too. Stunning island.

Fingeronthebutton · 21/05/2023 19:26

China. The most miserable rude people.

I love the Giant's Causeway. I've been three times. It just amazes me seeing all those hexagonal blocks. It seems really unreal. And I like that you can clamber all over it. I'd happily go three more times at least.

I love the Giant's Causeway too. Plus the views all around the north coast are spectacular!

custardcreme77 · 21/05/2023 19:27

Lands End - awful place. I won’t lose sleep at the thought of never going again.

Venice - love it. I’ve been several times and would happily go again.

New York, didn’t get the hype at all.
St Kitts, was expecting it to be beautiful but was really meh.
Italy, judging this one on Rome, Naples and Pisa.

Hedjwitch · 21/05/2023 19:28

Sitges is just a train ride away from Barcelona and gorgeous. Stay there and just do a day trip to Barca.
