Nothing at the moment! DH and I both have some time off so we're splitting up the week to share the childcare. We'll try to arrange some meet ups with friends and we're members of the local zoo so will definitely go there.

Hopefully the weather will be good and we can spend the week in the garden and having BBQs.

sanityisamyth · 21/05/2023 07:07

Going to Center Parcs for 5 days. Usually go to Longleat but we're going to Whinfell this time and seeing my dad at some point. He's not seen DS for 6 years and he's 9 now.

Porthia · 21/05/2023 07:19

we have friends coming to stay for the first weekend, then the kids will go to holiday camp for a few days while both DH and I work, then we have taken the Friday off and will do some fun things together as a family Friday-Sunday

I've arranged my work days to the first weekend, Monday and Tuesday, then I take over with the kids and DH has fitted his work in the end of the week and last weekend.

I think on DH's half they're going to stay with the inlaws who live in the lake district, so probably walks and splashing in lake. On my half we're going to a local themepark, meeting friends at a national trust place and meeting different friends at an adventure playground.

Hummusanddipdip · 21/05/2023 07:28

Chasing up family members for their favourite photos of them and my dad plus a little message too.

He has a big birthday this year and is a really sentimental sort, so I know he'd really love a coffee table type printed photo book with a page dedicated to him from each member of our family with a message.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 21/05/2023 07:31

I'm working all week, so kids will entertain themselves at home.

DH is working late shifts the first half, then he goes away for a friends wedding the second half.

purplesparklydinosaur · 21/05/2023 07:32

We will be going camping for four days, lovely site that we’ve been to before. Also off to see a kids show at the theatre, DS(4) loved the theatre the last time we went, keeps asking to go again and it’s a surprise!

I’m off university for the week, so DH has just taken two days off for camping!

GagaBinks · 21/05/2023 07:48

Husband got the week off work too but our 3 year old will be at nursery.

We're going to go into the loft, get all the baby stuff out and create an inventory of what we've got, what we need to buy etc. List everything we don't need on Vinted or marketplace.

Basically, sort ourselves out ready for baby 2 arrival in July! With maybe some nice childfree lunches thrown in too.

DeathMetalMum · 21/05/2023 07:58

We have a couple of day trips planned around work. We have always gone away first week of June, as primary school has two weeks off and it's been cheaper. Dd1 is now at high school she has a week and dd2 has two weeks.

Weather is looking fairly nice here, we will go on walks/bike rides, I am planning trip to local city with good museums for one day. We will go to local outdoor adventure place for one day and maybe a trip to the beach.

Phos · 21/05/2023 08:05

My daughter’s school gets two weeks so week 2, we will do something on bank holiday Monday as a family either seaside or countryside trip. Then she’s going to a holiday club for 3 days before a quiet Friday at home. We then fly out to Turkey for a week on the middle Saturday. So excited for that!

@whoruntheworldgirls thanks, and you! Packing commences here this afternoon, clothes already sorted. Child keeps wanting to wear the stuff he wants to take on holiday 🤷‍♀️

Nothing planned this year. We tend to go away on holiday for a week, but not this time. It's just too expensive. It will be odd, because we've always been away in May Half Term for many years.

Yup, this is us. We just can't afford it.
I hope to have at least one day out with all of them.
I am a single parent to teens.
At home they are far more likely to want to go off with friends.
In the wilds of Wales they didn't get the chance...
It's sad.

OnMyWayToSenility · 21/05/2023 11:47

I'm going up to Yorkshire, Pennines and the lakes! I've never been before and I'm really looking forward to it

Weather looks good in most places over half term, so that’s positive.

ilovebagpuss · 22/05/2023 21:25

DD will be revising for GCSE's I have the week off DH will probably have a couple of days as he's self employed.
Meeting friends in Birmingham one day for a bit of shopping DD 13 needs more books.
Weather looks fab here for next 10 days in the West Mids.
Could pop for a day at the coast if DD's fancy it but hoping for a restful pottering week.

Beenhereageskeepchangingname · 22/05/2023 21:37

No idea ! I want to go away, but can’t afford it. I did wonder about going to York , I know the kids need a few bits of clothes, and we could go to the nrm. I would like to do a travelloge over night thing but it starts sounding expensive then …….

Sanch1 · 22/05/2023 21:42

Going to France, first trip out of the country since 2019, can't wait!

johnnydeppsslipper · 22/05/2023 21:47

Closed my business for the week to spend time with dd tween

Plan on having brekkie in the garden every morning, in the hot tub lots of walks and catching up with old colleagues and friends.

caringcarer · 22/05/2023 21:50

I think DH will be finishing off grouting floor tiles in a kitchen floor in one of our btl and fitting the kitchen. No tenants in this house yet. My adult son said he would help him lift in kitchen units and range cooker. I'm hoping he has a day or two where we can go out to the beach and eat out.

awakeeveeynight · 22/05/2023 21:51

Sadly working and saving annual leave for the summer hols

shadypines · 22/05/2023 21:53

@fussychica oooh you'll love it, I've just been. What amazes me about Vermeer is that it is like you've been transported back in time. No fake poses, just a simple window into people's lives doing simple everyday things. Enjoy!

Orangeapple456 · 25/05/2023 02:20

Working night shifts - NHS.

Zippedydoo123 · 25/05/2023 06:05

Ds who is 18 is visiting his dad's family in London and I will be enjoying the peace and quiet here at home. His dad had two medical operations twice over and it has stopped him going there for months. Not since last August has he been.
