How long would you say a 'weekend away' was as a prize?

Just that...how many nights? 1, 2, 3?

Oh gosh, and how much did you pay?

cocksstrideintheevening · 18/05/2023 11:29

What was the exact wording?

A night away to me is Saturday night, a weekend away Friday - Sunday

Nextlevelnonsense · 18/05/2023 11:31

Is it a leap year? If not, 12

Nextlevelnonsense · 18/05/2023 11:32

Sorry. Didn't RTFT. Now I know it isn't a leap year.

SageRosemary · 18/05/2023 11:36

I have won a couple of weekends away, they were both two night stays. And, separately, a one night hotel and theatre trip which was midweek and very clearly advertised as a one night stay.

LookItsMeAgain · 18/05/2023 12:12

Two nights - arrive Friday and check in for sleep overnight on Friday and Saturday and check out on Sunday. That's a weekend.

Anything else is an overnight stay at X hotel/b&b/guest house.

Starseeking · 18/05/2023 13:07

2 nights, being Friday and Saturday, check out on Sunday.

MaggieFS · 18/05/2023 13:16

So everyone was bidding expecting two nights and actually it's only one?

OMGitsnotgood · 18/05/2023 13:17

I agree, a weekend away I'd expect to be 2 nights, otherwise it's. 'night away'

tailinthejam · 18/05/2023 14:19

AlmostGreenFingers · 18/05/2023 01:39

So if you count a long weekend as three nights and a weekend as one night, what do you class as two nights? 🤔

A break 😂

octopusrus · 18/05/2023 14:47

The exact working was 'weekend break @ x-hotel' - no other words at all or T&Cs.

Check in us 3pm and out at 11am so we don't get a full day.

No it wasn't for charity otherwise I might just suck it up.

Yes I assume everyone was bidding assuming it was 2 nights as the price was almost double the cost of the rooms stated on their website, so nobody would be silly enough to pay double what they could, even for a good cause!

octopusrus · 18/05/2023 14:48

Sorry should clarify it did say 'weekend break for 2 @ x-hotel...

OP posts:
HolyFuckerRooney · 18/05/2023 14:50

I'd query it as its very misleading. False advertising perhaps ? Someone here will be able to clarify I'm sure

lemonaddde · 18/05/2023 15:00

A weekend away is a weekend away.

Fri-Sun I would always expect.

Travel Friday evening and stay Friday night
Spend Saturday and Sunday there
Travel home Sunday afternoon

Riverlee · 18/05/2023 15:00

Friday to Sunday

Yeah, this just means a break at the weekend. It doesn't mean a "weekend away". It's like how "midweek break" means a break in the week, rather than at the weekend. A weekend break can be anything from 1-3 nights.

JenniferBarkley · 18/05/2023 15:28

I would assume that meant two nights as well OP.

You should definitely get on to the company to confirm you will receive two nights for what you paid. It seems a mad prize otherwise.

gogohmm · 18/05/2023 16:10

Would assume two nights unless it's a full day itinerary type situation on sat and sun plus one night

MaggieFS · 18/05/2023 16:17

I know there are rules for raffles, does this same apply here?

I would absolutely be complaining.

SarahSmith2023 · 18/05/2023 16:27

What was the point of the auction if it wasn't for charity?

Coronationstation · 18/05/2023 16:37

at least Friday and Saturday night, if it's just one night it's a night away not a weekend away. Friday - Monday i.e. 3 nights is a long weekend.

newbeggins · 18/05/2023 17:12

1 night - you arrive Saturday and leave Sunday (use the facilities on both days but might not be able to check in until 2-3pm and use the room)

flumpalamp · 18/05/2023 18:31

Saturday night only is not a weekend. It's one night away!

greencardigangirl · 18/05/2023 18:32

2 nights

Friday night
Saturday night
Home on Sunday
