Wonder what new excuse the Cabinet Office will wheel out today.

This is distracting from the war in Ukraine, do you want Ukraine to lose?

Or

Jeremy Corbyn stole them.

InMySpareTime · 31/05/2023 10:14

All the WhatsApps are needed in the channel to form a wall to stop the small boats?

Notonthestairs · 31/05/2023 10:18

DuncinToffee · 31/05/2023 09:59

Ah, they received the redacted version but want to see the unredacted messages plus Johnson's diaries and notebooks

Difficult to keep up

Oh yes my mistake!

Cornettoninja · 31/05/2023 10:24

If LBC topics are anything to go by the civil service are the whole reason government is ineffective and we should all hate them.

Lots of ‘they should do as they’re told’, because that was established as a credible defence at Nuremberg if you’re asked to break the law as part of your job.

Mel Stride
the government is “making sure we are absolutely, robustly transparent, where it is appropriate to be so

so yeah, dropped phone in sea

Who decides where it’s appropriate?

RafaistheKingofClay · 31/05/2023 14:07

Very much like when the report into Raab came out and they decided l it’s up to the guilty party to decide whether they are guilty or not, the guilty party should also be the person to decide what is appropriate to release or not.

RafaistheKingofClay · 31/05/2023 14:10

They do realise it’s 2023 and you can keep digital copies of stuff right? Or are they just lying again and the messages are archived and the notebooks have been scanned before sending to the Met.

tobee · 31/05/2023 16:48

Johnson's handed in all his stuff, unredacted and urges all other departments to do so.

tobee · 31/05/2023 16:49

Boris Johnson has handed his full and unredacted WhatsApps and documents to the Cabinet Office, his spokesperson has said.
In a statement, the former prime minister "urges" the department to "urgently disclose [the documents] to the inquiry".
Mr Johnson's spokesperson claimed the Cabinet Office "had access to this material for several months", and the ex-PM "would immediately disclose it directly to the inquiry if asked".
They added: "While Mr Johnson understands the government’s position, and does not seek to contradict it, he is perfectly happy for the inquiry to have access to this material in whatever form it requires.
"Mr Johnson cooperated with the inquiry in full from the beginning of this process and continues to do so. Indeed, he established the inquiry.
"He looks forward to continuing to assist the Inquiry with its important work."

I got this slightly wrong; as you can see

DuncinToffee · 31/05/2023 16:57

Johnson versus Sunak then, Harry Hill style?

OP posts:
DuncinToffee · 31/05/2023 16:58

Or as David Allen Green tweets

The Cabinet Office shafted Johnson by reporting him to the police without any notice

And now Johnson has shafted the Cabinet Office by pulling the rug from under the feet of their legal argument

Inquiry law should not be this exciting

It should be dull and earnest

Oh my word, I find myself in the discombobulating position of feeling the need to cheer Boris on.

itsgettingweird · 31/05/2023 17:14

Anyone else thinking Johnson would have sent selected reports - probably ones that throw others under the bus with him rather than just ones that throw him alone?!

AdamRyan · 31/05/2023 17:22

Johnson thinks this will tarnish sunak and give him another bite at the 🍒

Boris is a twat who does something right about once a year. In 2021 he was correct to end restrictions in summer and not lock down for Omicron, in 2022 he was right about Ukraine, maybe this is his one good call for 2023. If it happens to throw a load of other Tory arseholes under the bus too, that's a bonus!

DuncinToffee · 31/05/2023 17:33

Maybe it was the threat of perjury that pushed him into it.

Surely, and maybe I am confused, but if they were able to recieve the redacted version, someone somewhere must have the unredacted version, before they redacted it.

jgw1 · 31/05/2023 18:06

Blossomtoes · 31/05/2023 11:38

Quite clearly they do. Surely you know that we should doff our caps to our lords and masters, if we were as good as them we would be in that position, but we are not, so what we think really doesn't matter.

Surely, and maybe I am confused, but if they were able to recieve the redacted version, someone somewhere must have the unredacted version, before they redacted it.

That's too logical. You know they don't think like that

itsgettingweird · 31/05/2023 17:14

I think he will have 💯 sent all the diaries, notepads & messages directly relevant & appropriate to sinking the current Cabinet.
The man can't lie straight in bed, he's not about to start being honest.

DuncinToffee · 31/05/2023 18:58

Boris 'there were no parties' Johnson

I don't know what kind of parties you go to, but they must be very dull if that's what you call a party.

Do you also not know what a woman is like But Jeremy Corbyn?
