Do I want a Monday or Tuesday off?

having had a difficult year with lots of things, I have just gone down to working four days a week. I have been offered a Monday or Tuesday off. Which do I choose?
children are older so don’t need to worry about childcare.
obviously a three day weekend would be great, but so might splitting up the week a bit?
it is in a school so will only affect one bank holiday.
I do sport/exercise so having a Tuesday off means that it’s easier to split up workouts away from the weekend?

wwyd?

Monday. You're owed BHs whether you work them or not. I never got that awful Sunday feeling of dreading the next day. And I never had those dread feelings on a Monday of going on a Tuesday.

And there are 4 Monday BHs. Easter, 2 in May, 1 in August. That's an extra week holiday for you, to be taken when you'd like.

OP is in a school so most of them fall during existing school holidays.

I was in a college. You're still entitled to them. It's not like they're getting the BH just because the school is closed to everyone. I just used to add an extra week onto my summer holiday when people were going in to sort out next year's classes. I know its harder in a school. Something to discuss with the head, I guess.

I'd go for Mondays off otherwise you have that "back to work" evening feeling twice instead of once in a week.

You could tell school you will try to accommodate a swap/day off in lieu (if you are able to on the whole) if Monday is a training day you are needed for.

Thank you all. As bank holidays really aren’t a consideration , I have opted to go for the Monday. Very much looking forward to three day weekends!

If you have Tuesday off Wednesday becomes another Monday. You’ve got the Monday morning dread twice in the same week.
😉😁😁

Monday. It would be far too stop/starty having a Tuesday off, after being back at work one day. If Wednesday had been an option I would have said pick that though, as I know a few people who love Wednesdays off as it really breaks up their week.
