Exactly. It wasn't meant as a diktat that she remain so. That's Charles decision

Queen Consorts are always known as Queen...their name.

See Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother), Queen Mary, Queen Alexandra.

Diana would have been Queen Consort.

Casuaala · 06/05/2023 12:36

I think we could have done with a few more Ladies-in-waiting / Queen's companions and definitely a few more ducal crowns and tiaras.

The queue for the loos in WA is going to be horrendous in about 20 minutes!

From what I understand, Camilla was always the love of KC's life but they wouldn’t let them be married.
KC had to marry a virgin to produce heir and spare, which is where Diana came in. That is how these things go, and people have their love affairs separately from their pretty much arranged marriages.
So, in a way, Diana was the OW..(ducks)

If the 'love' was so great, why did Camilla bot hold on and wait for Charles? She went and married someone else and the two of them both cheated on their partners causing harm to others. People have a funny idea of 'love'. They mean pure Eros love, not Agape.

Anyway I desist.

Louis still in the loo ...

He was yawning just before he left, so has probably gone behind the scenes now with the nanny to relax.

I was think that too 😂

Bouledeneige · 06/05/2023 12:37

Penny M is a conservative minister - ran for the leadership of the party - now lord President of the Privy Council

40thmonarch · 06/05/2023 12:37

Waiting indeed 🤣

LadyWhineglass · 06/05/2023 12:37

Apparently Louis’s “rest” was scheduled as he’s only 5. Watch out for him back and hyper after the squash and biscuits.

CruCru · 06/05/2023 12:37

I must admit that I worried more about Camilla walking with her crown on than Charles. She’s a slighter person than he is and doesn’t stand up as straight.

Crowns are heavy. Must be hard on their necks.

Super tunica
Made me laugh.
Penny has finally got shot of that sword

Only to be given another sword!

Regarding the sword: “It’s drawing on all of my military drill experience,” she says of the weapon, which, measuring 4 feet and weighing 8 pounds, requires some considerable upper body strength."

My part in the pomp: Meet the minister carrying a sword for King Charles

Penny Mordaunt will play a key role in the ancient pageantry — and is hoping to put her own stamp on the coronation.

I love the irony of that statement about not being a fan of endlessly rehashing the past …. while watching a coronation 😃

I did think that as I was typing my post! But justified it by deciding that this is not rehashing the past - it's the coronation of a new monarch following tradition, so that's different Grin

Bouledeneige · 06/05/2023 12:37

To think this is only half the length of the Queen's service...

MeinKraft · 06/05/2023 12:37

The Kings best stuff makes the Archbishops stuff look like something my sons primary school class would make

RhubarbFairy · 06/05/2023 12:38

Do you reckon they had Maria, their nanny, stashed behind a nearby pillar, with an escape route planned out for them?

SockGoddess · 06/05/2023 12:38

Was that Adrian Chiles holding the book?

DysonSpheres · 06/05/2023 12:38

Poor Louis it's genuinely hard for him.

I was just thinking the same! 🤣🤣

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/05/2023 12:38

I have an important question. Will he have chance to go for a pee before getting back into the carriage?

Bouledeneige · 06/05/2023 12:38

I do think it would be a bit more glam with a younger couple. And less fear of the risk of a fall or stroke...

People clearly had longer attention spans and better bladders in 1953.

Late to the thread- has it already been said that those 70 year old ladies in waiting look a tad silly in their white dresses?
Loving the music though
