Settling down on the sofa with celebratory tea and scones ready for a couple of hours of right royal pomp and circumstance?

Or something else altogether?

I’ll be taking my son to his golf lesson, then for lunch in the club bar (which might be showing the coronation, unless there cricket on somewhere in the world). Off for a curry Saturday evening, which I might rebrand our Coronation Curry.

Interested to hear everyone else’s plans..

On the beach in Crete.

Brefugee · 05/05/2023 14:51

I may watch a bit. But it's a home game tomorrow so I'll be off to footy about an hour into it all

willWillSmithsmith · 05/05/2023 14:52

I’ll be watching the Coronation. Although I’m not an active Royalist (I’ve never bought a tea towel with the Queen on it) I’m not against them and enjoy the pomp. I’d actually like to wear a tiara for it for that might be a step too far. I’ll be watching alone or at least with my dog. I might put a tiara on her.

Sleeping before a 15 hour night shift.

YewandOak · 05/05/2023 14:58

I'll be at work

Ethelswith · 05/05/2023 14:59

I'm visiting my DMum - this is the 5th monarch's reign in her lifetime, but only the 3rd coronation.

We'll be front of the telly, probably nibbling on special edition coronation chicken crisps. I haven't worked out the full lunch plan, but it'll feature coronation chicken (the normal sort) probably with salads, maybe also asparagus as British asparagus is just beginning to appear in the shops.

We've got British Monarchy Top Trumps to play at some point, and DMum has a Charles jigsaw

BonnieGlasses · 05/05/2023 14:59

I'm on holiday (outside of the UK). We're going on a boat trip.

AngeloMysterioso · 05/05/2023 15:00

Getting ready to go to DC’s swimming lesson at 11:30

WeWereInParis · 05/05/2023 15:01

Watching the coronation, having sent DH out for a walk with DDs.

Generally speaking I am a republican. But I also love history and find the various elements and regalia etc fascinating.

shab05 · 05/05/2023 15:03

I'll be at work as I usually am on a Saturday morning. Might try and catch some bits of all the pomp later on in the evening.
My 7 year old really wants to watch so she might go down to my sister's to see what all the fuss is about and be utterly bored by it all .

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 05/05/2023 15:03

Going for a long walk with my binoculars, looking for birds.

MeanderingOnTheNorfolkBroads · 05/05/2023 15:03

Going to a scrap yard near us to look for railway sleepers for the garden.

billyt · 05/05/2023 15:04

Walking the dog.

if it's still going on when we get back I'll probably just sit and stick needles in my eyes.

Whole family are a total waste of time, money and resources.

PollyThePixie · 05/05/2023 15:08

On the sofa with my 2 adult daughters watching the Coronation. We’re having a lovely lunch/tea including the new Coronation Chicken and the Kings quiche. We also have Champagne. I’m also giving my rather nice Dinner/Tea service an airing for only the 4th time in 15 years but it’s the hats one daughter has made for us out of paper plates that I’m really looking forward to.

LlynTegid · 05/05/2023 15:09

I will watch it but without celebratory food or alcohol.

This while MN, hemming a skirt that I've been putting off doing and dealing with revision crisis should they arise. Lots of simple food so don't have to really cook.

My DSis off on holiday for long weekend with her kids other sibling is working and parents are house bound and think they probably cant avoid it on TV - and IL may watch highlights or may go out.

I don't think any of us would vote to keep them - but I'm going to enjoy the history and bling.

I'm not as cool as most of the posters on this thread so I will have the coronation coverage on. I will be baking for a tea party for people with alzheimers and their carers on Sunday.

Thats lovely and I hope you all have a fabulous time.

SVRT19674 · 05/05/2023 15:13

At the swimming pool with my daughter...

RhinestoneCowgirl · 05/05/2023 15:13

Probably trying to finish an essay, maybe with a bit of hoovering thrown in if I'm really procrastinating.

Jamie Oliver has created a new recipe for it and I’m giving it a go.

Jamie likes to turn this coronation chicken into a delicious salad, but you could serve everything together as an epic spread.
