Finding laughter - where do you find it? Recommend something really funny please

I recently had some training, and it was mentioned that everyone should find laughter every day. It's important for our wellbeing and resilience.

I understand this, and remember watching comedy years ago and crying with laughter, but I just don't seem to any more.

I'm drawn to serious/thriller type reading and watching. Nothing cheery.

Can you recommend a funny/lighthearted/amusing/uplifting book, film, series, podcast....

Autocorrect fails get me every time. Often ridiculously daft but they never fail to make me laugh.

I love that outtake from Car Share of Reece Shearsmith singing here comes the hotstepper.

I couldn’t breathe the first time I saw that!

Every time I hear that song even now I find myself singing “I’m a lyrical dance flap!”

I don't know where you are OP, but Still Game!

A series about misbehaving Glasgow pensioners. It really is the funniest show ever.

Your post just reminded me to watch it again, it's still priceless! Love it. Ta.

Stop motion animation clips on tiktok. There is one that is mostly about farting, purile but to me hilarious.

Chickdaft · 04/05/2023 00:52

An audience with Lily Savage on you tube plus Paul o Grady’s books!
Audience with Billy Connolly, also so funny.
Anything with Peter Kay.
Still Game on Netflix.
Live at the Apollo is a hit or miss with me, some I find so unfunny and the modern sarcasm a bit boring to be honest. Some are good depending who’s on.

There's lots of stand up on all platforms, including YouTube. It's hit and miss sometimes, but many are very good

The episode of Fr Ted with Graham Norton Irish dancing in a caravan.
Never fails to make me laugh.

Oh yes, thanks pp, anything with Bob Mortimer, including his book and any time he appears on shows like Would I Lie to You! He is naturally so funny, I love him.

Surprised no one has mentioned It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia yet. Reliably laugh out loud funny, often controversial, it kicked up a notch when Danny Devito joined the cast in the second series.

Haven't seen a bad episode but there are several I rewatch, the Nightman and Waterpark being the two funniest in my opinion.

echt · 19/05/2023 02:26

Thanks @Bemyclementine . I'm bumping this as it's one of the nicest threads for ages and has had me disappearing down the rabbit hole of "Still Game".

The Jeeves and Wooster TV series with Fry and Laurie. Though there has never been a bad version of Wodehouse's creation.
