Where did you go on your honeymoon?

Looking for inspiration. Where did you go, how long for? Was it somewhere you had been many times or somewhere you’d always wanted to go?

We married in New York so we had 10 days there

New York. It was winter and neither DH or I wanted to lie on a beach so we did 5 nights in NY instead. It was absolutely wonderful, we saw and did loads but it was tiring. Luckily we booked some extra time off work so came home and just chilled afterwards.

Venice

California (drove from LA up coast to San Francisco) then Las Vegas/Grand Canyon. Great time overall but we probably spent too long driving and we hadn’t bargained for how tiring the jet lag would be

2 weeks in the Maldives. Not our usual kind of holiday but was an absolutely amazing experience.

The Maldives. We had one of the presidential water homes on stilts for honeymooners. it was massive and miles away from the others. I didn't appreciate being fussed over that much. It was OTT.

Outer Hebrides

Mexico, Playa del Carmen… came back with an extra traveller though, so be careful!

Australia and New Zealand for 6 weeks via Singapore on the outward journey and America on the way back. Hated America, loved Aus and NZ. Was amazing to have a full 6 weeks and take our time rather than rushing around.

We did a 2500 mile road trip in the US. Never been there before. It was spur of the moment thing because the pound dollar exchange rate was over two dollars to the pound.

Paris in September 43 years ago…..DH died 5 years ago after 38 happy years together but always remembering Paris in the early autumn and our excitement at starting out.

Mexico, Riviera maya. Bloody lovely.

3 week road trip around the west coast of the US in a convertible mustang. Mostly because we knew we wouldn’t be able to do it after kids. Was incredible, did vegas/LA/SF + the national parks with various stops along the way. Best holiday ever. Did it 8 months after the wedding though to use Easter to extend the A/L.

I wanted to go to Paris, DH wanted to go to Venezuela 😮

We compromised and went to Barcelona for a week including days out to surrounds. It was so lovely.

Loch Lomond. It rained constantly and we didn’t care.

California road trip for 2 & half weeks - Laguna Beach, Las Vegas, LA, Santa Barbara, Carmel & SF.

We did a beach honeymoon on Block Island, Rhode Island. It was lovely and the seafood was amazing.

One night in Paris - we were young and poor and it was absolutely perfect!! Now we are older and have more money I am thinking about planning a 15th anniversary honeymoon to a couples wellness retreat. We would have hated that as young newlyweds

Israel…..we travelled around, staying at Kibbutz guest houses. It was amazing!

Three days in Cornwall at my aunties. 😊😊

South Africa for 2 weeks, driving the garden route and ending with a safari then a week in the Maldives which was a bit boring tbh.

Paris 30+ years ago.
I hated it. Went to see the Sacre Coeur and the area was full of sex shops, strip joints and prostitutes. One even propositioned my husband as I stood there.
