To never go on holiday again...

I wouldn't be fussed if I never went on a holiday again. Don't get me wrong, I'm incredibly grateful that I have the option but I just think they are such a faff. My husband loves them and I never enjoy myself....too many clothes, finding stuff to do (that's inevitably expensive)....maybe I'm a miserable cow! Just come back from a week away and I'm knackered and have loads of crap to unpack/wash/put away and a weeks worth of work to catch up on.

Anyone else not get what all the fuss is about?

I bloody love holidays, although I do enjoy coming home. The appeal of lazing by the pool has gone a bit though since we moved to Oz and have our own.😀The nicest hotel pool in the world isn't as nice as your own as it always has other people in it! As for the laundry problem, when we go to Bali we always take our clothes to the laundry at the start and end of the trip, because its dirt cheap and they make your clothes smell absolutely amazing, I even bought their fabric softener back with me to try and replicate it.

Have to admit I'm always amazed when people say they have never gone anywhere. Aren't you curious about other places?

I agree. Holidays are far too much faff for far too little return. It would not bother me if I never had another one.

I've never been to Yeovil but now I'm thinking I might like it. I used to love going abroad and the flight was almost as good as the holiday, but now flying is shit and an ordeal rather than anything, I feel sorry for young people who don't get the seventies and eighties experience of flying like it was a luxury with the in flight entertainment and the meals etc. Don't think I'll bother going abroad again unless I win the lottery and can afford business class,

Same, OP. I’ve done several overseas holidays in the 90s and 00s - the UK, France and US. Haven’t the money now (I’m on a carer pension) and frankly haven’t the interest anymore. I’ve even lost interest in visiting museums and the like. I don’t want to make arrangements to put my mother in respite care - last time I did that the useless fuckers didn’t bother watching her and she fell and broke her hip - and putting my two cats in a cattery is a hard no, now. Going out for a few hours is plenty.

I love how you just "nip" to Bali sounds lovely.

It smells like Bali! So sunshine. Frangipanis, incense and who knows? I don't know how they do it but their fabric softener must be industrial strength, you can take a t-shirt out of a drawer a year later and still smell it.

Sounds amazing....... I need to source some! Hmmmm, time to google.

It sounds very exotic, doesn't it? 😀It isn't really, f you live in Western Australia going to Bali is like a British person going to Spain on holiday, it's the cheapest and easiest trip we can make abroad. It's pretty cool though, so long as you avoid Kuta etc. Kuta is horrible, like a Balinese Benidorm.

Mrsjayy · 27/04/2023 13:47

Yeah but Bali/Spain I know which I'd prefer 😄

I had a relative who lived in Oz for a while and would also nip to Bali.

Mrsjayy · 27/04/2023 13:48

Oh Benidorm is in all continents then ?
