Me... daily in summer and a couple of days in winter, unless something makes me hot.

These responses 😳I only own two bras that fit me! How many bras do you own that you change it every day?? Seems very excessive!!

morelippy · 25/04/2023 07:53

I'm struggling with showering daily but then reusing the same bra ( worn clothes on a clean body doesn't feel right) VERSUS does your bra need changing daily if it's always on a clean body 🤪

But it isn't the same as knickers or socks. I don't sweat on my bras so they don't need changing every day.

And jeans are next to your skin too

I doubt those wearing their bras for days or weeks on end would wear a vest top or t.shirt for the same amount of time. But then again…..

A tee shirt or top touches my underarms, my bra doesn't. However, I do wear tops for several days - it's not good for clothes to be constantly washed, nor is it good for the environment. I also wear natural fabrics. People on MN are constantly banging on about climate change and how we are leaving a worse world for future generations - I would love to know if they are the same people who feel everything needs to be washed after a moment's wear.

Everyday. It’s underwear next to your skin. How I was taught?

At the moment I am wearing trackpants and a long sleeve top - both of which are next to my skin, but I can assure you that I won't be putting them straight in the wash.

BusterGonads · 25/04/2023 02:30

@Smartiepants79 I put mine in a laundry bag and then throw them in the washer with the rest of the laundry.
No environmental impact to be stunned and horrified about.

It’s not just the daily bra changes I’m talking about and obviously I’m not necessarily talking about you either. There are reasonably regular threads on here where many people claim to change their pjs every day, use new towels daily and change their sheets at least once a week. Now, there may be good reasons for some of this, illness etc but that’s a lot of washing. Most of which I would consider to be totally unnecessary. The cost and environmental implications are real.

ChypreNovice · 25/04/2023 08:05

Mon-Fri daily, because my job invariably makes my clothes down to my underwear stink. The psychological relief I get from taking everything off when I get home, dumping the whole stinking lot in the garage and then putting on clean clothes (no bra in the evening) is worth the additional washing.
I just have 5 identical work-horse no frills M&S bras for this purpose.

shelbaba · 25/04/2023 08:15

I sometimes change daily depends what I'm wearing with the colours etc. I don't wash them just because I've changed them though. They lose their shape and tightness if u wash them often. They might be hand wash but I ain't faffing with that. I usually just put them in a quick wash with other clothes.

The overly fastidiousness of some of the posters on this thread is bonkers.

LBFseBrom · 25/04/2023 08:40

Bras do 'touch' your body and do absorb sweat, underneath your breasts where they are close fitting skin cells rub off. I don't think everybody needs to change their bra each day unless they are working, commuting, rushing around a lot, and when it is hot, but certainly every other day. It keeps them nice too, I have bras that I have owned for years still in pristine condition, always gently washed. It's horrible to see a grubby bra.

userxx · 24/04/2023 19:59

You've got a bra bucket! I think I need one.

It works really well actually. Also I've always hand washed my bras so this makes it easy to have them ready and aside from other washing

Enko · 25/04/2023 09:06

Aslanplustwo · 24/04/2023 23:14

I continue to be stunned and vaguely horrified by the amount of excess washing that so many on here seem to think is necessary. The environmental impact alone bothers me never mind the cost.

I agree. I'm not in the UK, and at the moment there are notifications on TV daily telling us not to wash clothing so often as it's bad for the clothes, and the environment.

I use a hand sink worth of water to soak them in and another to rinse through. Once a week. Hardly excess. So many ways to reduce water wastage for me washing all my.bras once a week doesn't feel excessive.

Showering for 5 mins +does, for me, but I know on here that's common. Comes back to my earlier point about people having different views on what is suitable.

Simply because you wash your bras after one wear doesn't equal you waste water..

It's all relative.

There was a post about this some time ago from memory it was anything from 1 up to 50.

I have about 20. I buy perhaps 1 new a year. I look after my bras so they last well.

RampantIvy · 25/04/2023 09:11

I don't have underboob sweat. I don't have underboobs. They are too small. Unlike most mumsnetters I am not huge of boob.

Every day-same as knickers and socks.

Yes.

Around 20
15 Elomi in various colours and styles
5 sports bras (exercise 5 times a week and they need changing every time as wet with sweat)
Large busted and bras are important to me!

StarlightLady · 25/04/2023 10:20

Daily! It's tight (obviously, for it to do the job) and it is in direct contact with my body.

StarlightLady · 25/04/2023 10:23

I buy 2 pairs of matching knix with a new bra. I don't do beige or white though.

As for those making comments about the impact on the environment for changing bras daily, I maybe a 36F but my bras are not that large! They are washed (in a delicates bag) with other things, there are no extra washing loads as a result.

The same could said for those wearing them without washing for ages ... it's not ok to complain that people are " too clean" if you wouldn't like the others being called out for being unclean.

RampantIvy · 25/04/2023 10:33

Indeed @AlwaysGinPlease

AlwaysGinPlease · 25/04/2023 10:43

I got curious so had to count. I have 36 Bras 🤣 all in very good condition some not even worn yet with the tags still attached. I really must stop bloody buying them I won't

StarlightLady · 25/04/2023 11:05

I'm with @AlwaysGinPlease, all the way. And happy to share a G&T with her knowing we are both wearing clean bras.
