What have people been to see lately that they've enjoyed (and is still on...am sad I missed Come From Away).

I saw Oklahama recently and LOVED it so it's inspired me to see a few more things.

I've shortlisted 2:22 (though accidentally found out the ending so not sure if it's worth it now), Witness for the Prosecution, and Hamilton (though seats don't seem to be on sale at the moment). Interested what else is out there I should consider and haven't. No DC to consider in my choices, just for me.

@TheApplianceofScience out of interest, why didn't you like Come From Away?

TheApplianceofScience · 12/06/2023 14:41

The sound was poor, my husband is deaf and that aside we found it a bit shouty.

Back to the future is amazing. Been to see it twice.
Tine turner very good.
Six very good, costumes fantastic. Grease wasn't great, nor was matilda.
Not sure if these are still on but have seen lion king, mary poppins, sister act where also fantastic
Have also booked come from away which is touring, pretty woman, the bodyguard (if near you definitely a must see) and dirty dancing

@mummyof2boys30

What was so good about back to the future was it the music?

Bramshott · 12/06/2023 15:28

Glad you loved Operation Mincemeat OP! Quite tempted to go again...

mummyof2boys30 · 12/06/2023 17:33

The special effects where fantastic. Actors do such a super job as well

TheApplianceofScience · 12/06/2023 17:45

We wanted to go to We Will Rock You, it has been slated. Hey ho

Preps · 12/06/2023 18:35

I really enjoyed Witness for the Prosecution and was blown away by To Kill a Mockingbird.

I want to see the Lehman Brothers one.

TheApplianceofScience · 16/06/2023 23:53

Off to see 42nd street, any opinions. ?

SilliQuestion · 17/06/2023 00:19

The Showstoppers improvised musical is a lot of fun and very clever. Think they’re back in London now.

We went to The Mousetrap on Tuesday. Just to tick it off, and it was cancelled at half time due to technical issues. So we still don't know whodunnit.

Oh no! I have booked this for August. Apparently it's a very small theatre and the seating/leg room is very cramped 😐

beguilingeyes · 17/06/2023 11:02

It's a small theatre but we weren't cramped (third row stalls). I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. They gave us a full refund so we'll rebook.

TheApplianceofScience · 17/06/2023 17:45

Off to see Dara O Brian tonight in Woking.

Sold out so should be a good atmosphere.

TheApplianceofScience · 17/06/2023 17:49

O Briain even.🙄

Ooh was the bit that you saw good? I’m going to watch this on Tuesday with my dd.

beguilingeyes · 18/06/2023 11:12

I enjoyed it. I've heard people dismiss it but I liked it.

Oh good, thank you. I hope you get to rebook soon.

Theapplianceofscience I saw 42nd Street several years ago. I enjoyed it. Lots of songs you will be familiar with.
I’ve also booked for The Mousetrap so please, no spoilers.
Saw Dirty Dancing ( on tour) recently and it was fabulous. The whole audience erupted at the ‘Nobody puts Baby in a corner’ line. It was better than I expected it to be.

I saw Dirty Dancing years ago on tour. It was fun but it was more like watching Dirty Dancing Live - it seemed almost word for word the same as the film, and there were the songs from the soundtrack performed by an on stage band, but not by the main cast. I always felt it was odd that it was sold as a musical.

I've booked for DD and I to see Wicked and Heathers in the summer via Kids Week!
