After the death of Paul o Grady it occurred to me I've never heard anyone say a bad word about him before or after death- ditto George Michael
Other celebs I can think of are David Attenborough and Peter Kay
Are there any others?

OP posts:
Tentoseveninthemorning · 22/04/2023 07:06

Keanu Reeves & and the late, great Paul O Grady. Wow, he really was a prince amongst men.

I know someone who randomly encountered kylie minogue in a lift in London a few years ago and disclosed to her she had been just diagnosed with breast cancer. Kylie took her out for lunch and spent the whole meal chatting with her and giving her advice about her diagnosis- all completely spontaneously. Its one of the nicest things Ive ever heard about a celeb

daisymoonlight · 22/04/2023 07:10

Those saying Keanu Reeves - up until recently I would have agreed, but I read Matthew Perry's autobiography and he is nasty about Keanu in passing several times but doesn't expand on why

He gives no reason at all- MP is a narcissistic, self absorbed twat (his book is full of smarmy self congratulation and he only describes women in terms of their looks) and there was a huge backlash against his horrible comments about Keanu

Apart from the kidnapping and beating of a young man. Sure.

Morethanthis71 · 22/04/2023 07:12

Sean Lock and Jayne Torvill

Ellie43 · 22/04/2023 07:16

Ok I’ve been through all the pages and tried to think of some who hadn’t been mentioned (unless I missed). Correct me if I’m wrong though! (Might be thibgs I don’t know).

Julie Andrews?
Paul Rudd?
sir Jackie Stewart?

I can't stand Peter Kay, he is not funny in the slightest so I disagree with that one!

As an aside, what's that thing about the garlic bread line from Phoenix Nights supposedly being voted the funniest joke ever?

WTF. I can only assume the only people allowed to vote were Beginner-level English language students who misunderstood the concept of wit, had never before seen television and had been told garlic meant 'fart'.

Just because you say it in a regional accent doesn't make it funny.

Anyhow, back on topic: David Attenborough (obvs), Lauren Laverne, Tom Baker.

FrauleinElsaMars · 22/04/2023 07:21

I agree with Dolly Parton.

Can't find the post I'm trying to reply to but I'm a huge Celtic fan and I love Ally McCoist. He's a great pundit and a real advocate for Scottish football and players.

SingLikeADuck · 22/04/2023 07:21

Tom Jones.

Kind of supports the claim made against Tom Jones.

He gives me the creeps.

Oh my goodness yes how has Paul Rudd not been mentioned. He and Dolly Parton are like, the goodest of good eggs.

Neil Patrick Harris, Tom Daley, Emma Watson all come across as mostly
positive

JackSheepskin · 22/04/2023 07:25

I’ve heard many bad things about Peter Kay. Agree with most of them.

Keanu Reeves on the other hand.

piperatthegates · 22/04/2023 07:28

Henry Winkler (aka The Fonz) always seems like a great guy and never heard a bad word about him.

Mummytolittleones92 · 22/04/2023 07:29

SlipSlidinAway · 21/04/2023 23:58

😂😂😂. Seriously?

I’m pretty sure whatsyourpoison13 was joking with her contributions. There are rumours about all of the people she’s mentioned.

taxguru · 22/04/2023 07:29

Olivia Newton John - never a bad word about her either. She was very active with animal/environment protection and did a huge amount for charity, even setting up a cancer charity/wellness centre.

JoyDivisionOvenGlovesx · 22/04/2023 07:30

Stephen Graham. Never a bad word etc, etc…

I was going to read this but I love Keanu Reeves so don't think I'll bother now. Especially if that's how MP talks about women.

Whichwhatnow · 22/04/2023 07:37

I think a lot of people are interpreting this question as 'people I really love so assume others love them just as much' tbh...

Emotionalsupportviper · 22/04/2023 07:41

Su Pollard. I've met a few people who have met her and everyone says that what you see on TV is exactly what you get - she's generous, funny, somewhat eccentric, and an absolute joy.

And plenty of people on threads on here have made negative comments about Paul O'Grady, IIRC.

Also Peter Kay, George Michael and David Jason.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/04/2023 07:43

Tom Daley and Emma Watson? No. Tom and his husband have paid a woman to have a baby for them. I'm very much against surrogacy for everyone, not just gay men, so that's one thing against him, and he's also been very vocal about how unfair it is that male sportspeople who identify as women can't just start playing on the women's teams. The fact that this is physically dangerous in many sports and grossly unfair in all sports seems to pass him by. Not one to see things from a woman's point of view.

Emma Watson - smug, self-satisfied, superficial. Not a particularly good actor. She got where she is by starring in Harry Potter as a child and she's repaid J. K. Rowling by stabbing her in the back over JKR's sincerely held, well argued and evidenced views that women's rights and safeguarding of vulnerable people are being ignored and damaged in the rush to implement gender self-ID without thinking through how it affects everyone in society. I'd rather have one J. K. Rowling than a million Emma Watsons. Same goes for Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint.

ClaireEclair · 22/04/2023 06:36

Jealously? Matthew Perry came across as a complete self pitying arsehole in the excerpts I read.

I think MP might be a little jealous of Keanu Reeves too.

HandaPanda · 22/04/2023 07:44

Mary Beard

3luckystars · 22/04/2023 07:44

Ian Dempsey (Ireland) everyone loves him and he is around a long time.

Showmethebagels · 22/04/2023 07:47

Brian May though , I cannot recall anyone ever saying anything bad .(Except maybe his barber saying ^Hmm Brian how about we go for a bit more of a drastic trim this time ?)
😂

Spidey66 · 22/04/2023 02:16

Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters
Jarvis Cocker (or they’d better not have)

I think Dave Grohl is quite possibly not as nice as his carefully cultivated image would have us believe.

Zanatdy · 22/04/2023 07:49

Gary Barlow
