After the death of Paul o Grady it occurred to me I've never heard anyone say a bad word about him before or after death- ditto George Michael
Other celebs I can think of are David Attenborough and Peter Kay
Are there any others?

OP posts:
Tinktravels · 22/04/2023 11:42

David Jason, John cleese, Hugh laurie

Sir Jackie Stewart was racist to Lewis Hamilton.

Oh I did not know this! :(

Ellie43 · 22/04/2023 11:47

Sir Chris Hoy?

TheCrystalPalace · 22/04/2023 11:48

Another one here for Declan Donnelly.
And Donny Osmond - all the Osmonds, actually. Thoroughly nice people and do a LOT for charity/church.
I disagree with the slating two pps have given Peter Andre. He was stuck married to the impossibly self-absorbed and narcissistic Katie Price and he, along with most of her other exes, seem to have gone on to make good and stable relationships since. She on the other hand...

Floella Benjamin - can’t imagine anyone not liking Floella

Not read the whole thread, but what about Lee Mack?

Love Lee Mack. He would be my celebrity husband!

I used to watch St Elsewhere- I'd forgotten he was in it. If you get the chance, watch film "The preacher's wife" with him, Whitney Houston and Courtney B Vance. He was also excellent in "Philadelphia" with Tom Hanks. 🌹

movinginaminute · 22/04/2023 11:57

Emma Thompson- she does tons for charity and I believe (because I am nosey and was listening to two people who had got work experience on a film location) that she treats everyone she works with ( including runners, catering staff etc) with kindness and consideration

ohdannyboy · 22/04/2023 11:59

I like Julian Clary - he has had a past of misdemeanors with the Norman LaMont joke - but other than that - I'd like to see him take over from Paul at Battersea

SerafinasGoose · 22/04/2023 12:01

By some accounts the Queen Mother practically dripped acid. And I've never understood the misguided reverence for QE2. Her unswerving support for her highly dodgy second son, not least manipulating tax laws/Scottish property law when it benefits the interests of her dynasty, both suggest she wasn't the sweet little old lady the media cast her as. The politics of that entire family are distinctly 'off', and this is a matter not of opinion but of a well-documented track record.

David Jason. Could be rumour, could be otherwise, but of late I haven't liked what I've been reading.

Of those who have something of a mixed press - David Attenborough being one who comes across as a gentleman, but does apparently have his irascible moments. Fair play, we're all human, but it's a pity when we read of outright rudeness. Assuming this is true, of course. Sometimes it's a matter of perception and a blunt, direct manner is sometimes received as rudeness.

Loved Philadelphia but haven't seen The Preacher's Wife, I'll have to look at that, thanks.

Would that be the late Queen Mother whose politics were somewhat to the right of Genghis Khan?
(Or so hinted the author AN Wilson who had lunched with her at Buck House/Clarence House. And don't forget the QM's brother in law was a Nazi sympathiser. We definitely dodged a bullet when he abdicated.)

Blame her for her own faults but hardly fair to blame her for her BILs, who she hated, beliefs.

loislovesstewie · 22/04/2023 12:19

BTW The Preachers Wife is a remake of the 1947 film The Bishop's Wife, with Cary Grant as the angel, David Niven as the bishop and Loretta Young as his wife. IMHO it's a far better film.

Malificent1 · 22/04/2023 12:23

Robin Williams

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 22/04/2023 12:25

Rob Brydon?

Ha, just read back and I’d skipped the page she was on 😊

He's awful. I had to block him on Twitter because of his attitudes about women. He's very much poor men being accused of rape rather than how disgusting that women are raped.

Who is this? The original comment had been deleted

DomPom47 · 22/04/2023 12:31

Dwayne Johnson - especially after Moana 👍

HappyMe6 · 22/04/2023 12:33

Although I’m not a fan lot of people love holly Willo

Readytoplay · 22/04/2023 12:35

It’s not physically possible for any celebrity (or anyone else for that matter). To be universally loved.

i have heard people say bad things about most celebrities. The only person, that I am yet to hear anything unpleasant about is Derren Brown, but I know that some people don’t like him and question his ‘ethics’

JoyDivisionOvenGlovesx · 22/04/2023 12:37

Honourable mention for Barry Humphries.

He undoubtedly pissed off a few people, but they were people worth pissing off. Gets my vote.

Picoloangel · 22/04/2023 12:43

Jennifer Garner always seems lovely and must have been a saint to put up with Ben Affleck who seems like an absolute arse!

Boughtitdownthemarket · 22/04/2023 10:46

An Irish celebrity that people tend to like is John Connors, the actor, but I met him and he's a self-important wanker.

He's disliked by so many people, he's a real rent a gob.

Puffalicious · 22/04/2023 12:52

Clarabell77 · 22/04/2023 11:27

Have a read about his affair with Patsy Kensit while you’re at it.

He’s a knob.

Gosh, we can't tell which side you support.
