Thread 7 - TalkLair: “In fact it’s an oblate spheroid”

Continuation of previous threads (thread 6).
The new lair of JTT escapees is all cosy and homey; we have truly settled here. Outside, the garden is blooming with spring flowers. Inside, the hearth is glowing, pictures are up on the walls, rugs are down on the floors (and assorted pets curled up on them).

We just won’t mention the gnawed bones of our prey over there in the corner of the cave…

Oh wow, great choices, @CyanCrystalViolet - although it was @MouseMinge who mentioned it rather than me.

CyanCrystalViolet · 12/05/2023 22:31

Oh apologies @MavisMcMinty! Did you buy anything @MouseMinge?

MouseMinge · 12/05/2023 23:24

The corset link isn't loading properly for me. You can see it in the gloves photo.

duc748 · 12/05/2023 23:48

I think they are all fabulous; sexy, but not tacky.

CyanCrystalViolet · 13/05/2023 00:14

Ooh that’s a great dress! I’m in the market for a summery black one, if such a thing exists.

MouseMinge · 13/05/2023 04:15

They do! I have a Vivienne Westwood one that's black cotton embroidery anglaise. I got it on eBay for a ridiculously low price. I can't remember how much because it was about two or three years ago, but it was definitely less than £20 including package and postage. It's a bit small at the moment because I've eaten too many cakes but I will fit into it again.

SinnerBoy · 13/05/2023 04:48

I had to do a double take at the woman wearing the black dress, she looks very, very similar to a colleague of mine.

As an aside, she told me about something which happened at her school. Somebody ate peanuts and a girl went into anaphylaxis, they realised later that the peanuts had cause it, so they banned them and put prominent signs all over:

"This is a No Nuts School!"

.... Yes, it was an all girl's school.

Tricyrtis2022 · 13/05/2023 09:22

Aww, they look really sweet.

Britinme · 13/05/2023 10:09

I'm embarrassed to reveal that I thought binturongs were a variety of antelope. My mental image of a familiar poster has now changed completely.

Winterborne74 · 13/05/2023 10:17

And I have to confess that I assumed “smell of popcorn” was a reference or joke I didn’t get. Although knowing how many fascinating facts binturong has at her fingertips, I should have known better!

😁

Image 2 is definitely closer to reality.

I hope you are all celebrating world binturong day in an appropriate manner.

duc748 · 13/05/2023 13:03

Truly, today I have learnt something. I assumed a binturong was an Asian food delicacy! 🙄

Deep fried binturong on baculum skewers. Lovely.

MavisMcMinty · 13/05/2023 14:45

I have honestly thought for all these years that Bint’s name meant “Bint - U R Wrong”.

Tricyrtis2022 · 13/05/2023 14:47

I thought similar, Mavis, and thought it was a play on 'Been too wrong'.

MavisMcMinty · 13/05/2023 14:51

Ah, that’s cleverer than mine, Tric.

MouseMinge · 13/05/2023 18:42

I did not know it was an animal but now I do and you make beautiful babies, bint.

Had a light bulb moment last night and headed to eBay. When I decide which of my items I have to return, I won't be returning them. The dress, for example, is on eBay for £400. So, I'll be selling and making a profit. I've decided that in the future I'll be shopping all their collaborations, using klarna to pay if I don't have upfront money and selling on eBay. It's a money maker! You just need to figure out what will be most popular and luckily I'm good at that. My idiot buying has turned into a brilliant idea. Go me!

MavisMcMinty · 13/05/2023 18:53

Excellent, Mouse!

I’ve said this before in other places, but my sister and I have ALWAYS had the same combined weight, but usually one of us will be a size or two bigger than the other. So e.g. when I broke my jaw and lost 2 stone, she got pregnant. When I gave up smoking and put on 2 stone, she breastfed, and lost all her baby weight. Etc., all our lives.

I weighed myself at her house last weekend, intrigued to know what I was, as the last time I was weighed was at the hospital 6 years ago before my MRI scan. Well, I’ve lost 10kgs since then, and me and her are exactly the same weight, possibly for the first time in our lives! I think it’s mainly muscle wasting from my spinal cord compression, as my always curvy thighs now look like a tall lanky teenager’s, straight up and down.

MavisMcMinty · 13/05/2023 20:11

The horse chestnut looks even more splendid in the evening sun. In 24 years I’ve never seen it as magnificent as this.

How lovely! No horse chestnut trees here :-(

I have fired up my trusty VPN and am watching Eurovision on the BBC. It is actually streaming here on Peacock but it's not the same without Graham Norton's commentary so we resorted to the computer. Finland is on as I write and my husband is delighted because this guy was in Lotdi, who he really liked when they won a few years ago.

Kucinghitam · 13/05/2023 21:28

Some excellent Binturong related misunderstandings today Grin

Lordi were fun! The Finns are great - they should enter Apolcolyptica:
