Thread 7 - TalkLair: “In fact it’s an oblate spheroid”

Continuation of previous threads (thread 6).
The new lair of JTT escapees is all cosy and homey; we have truly settled here. Outside, the garden is blooming with spring flowers. Inside, the hearth is glowing, pictures are up on the walls, rugs are down on the floors (and assorted pets curled up on them).

We just won’t mention the gnawed bones of our prey over there in the corner of the cave…

That's lovely, Mavis!

Squirrels can be an absolute menace for bark stripping and they've killed a a lot of trees where I work.

angelico53 · 09/05/2023 13:28

A colleague just translated @Kucinghitam for me! So now I know...

Dotellhimpike · 09/05/2023 13:45

Thought the thread might like to meet this little singing cat.

And this brilliant response to it:

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 09/05/2023 13:55

Those are wonderful!

Kucinghitam · 09/05/2023 15:24

I love the singing cat videos!

@angelico53 Outed! Grin

That is one pretty cat with a lovely voice.

Living alone I don't cook from scratch as often as I could but living like that would drive me up the wall. He's wrong about air fryers and basically needs to get some sort of therapy because that is no way to live.

Tricyrtis2022 · 11/05/2023 07:36

That's bizarre. I absolutely could not, and would not, be able to put up with not being able to cook in my own home. Wonder what she'll do.

Dotellhimpike · 11/05/2023 08:05

The husband is totally unreasonable to have recognised he has a mental health issue but not done anything to address it, or recognise the affect it is having on his wife's quality of life.

MouseMinge · 11/05/2023 09:10

I've gone a bit mental this morning and counted down to 09:00 to order some H&M X Mugler items which are not cheap and I really shouldn't be ordering but oh my days, Mugler is good stuff. I knew if I left it for even an hour everything would be sold out. I've missed X collaborations in the past by being too slow. I'm pretty likely to return at least one item out of three but I'm v excited!

Worse, they have a small child growing up in this situation.

I don't think I could have put up with that for one year, never mind 11.

MavisMcMinty · 11/05/2023 14:54

Someone suggests an Aga/Rayburn on that thread, as cooking smells go straight up the flue, to the extent you can cremate your forgotten food in there without the smell of burning.

Kucinghitam · 12/05/2023 08:33

The OP's latest update has confirmed to me that her husband is a controlling grade-A dickhead.

Also, of general relavance to, well, everything everywhere all at once was this comment:

If I ever need to demonstrate the extent to which women are socialised to accommodate men’s unreasonable behaviour I am going to direct them to this thread. I cannot believe the number of posters earnestly suggesting that OP foregoes onions / velvets chicken / prepares a delicately infused crème brûlée rather than her DH PUTTING A FUCKING DOOR ON THEIR KITCHEN.

I loved this comment, Kuc. Also the bit where he threatened to move out & said “And you can explain why to our son” - as several people pointed out, “Daddy left because I fried some mince” isn’t necessarily the killer argument he seems to think.

Gonners · 12/05/2023 09:15

Archers listeners will recognise this behaviour as straight out of the Rob Titchener playbook. I did laugh at "Daddy left because I fried some mince", though.

duc748 · 12/05/2023 17:06

When did Eurovision go from a bit of a naff joke to "the biggest music event in the world"?

MouseMinge · 12/05/2023 20:21

I don't know exactly when but it is bloody insane. Alas, I shall miss the biggest music event in the world because I am obliged to go and watch Mike Wozniak perform. I am obviously gutted.

CyanCrystalViolet · 12/05/2023 22:25

I’ve just had a nosy at the H&M Mugler collection @MavisMcMinty mentioned

I love this ‘Grope me and die’ jacket. Shame they don’t do it in black.

Also coveting this anti-strangulation necklace. Very zeitgeist
