Im watching The Casting of JonBenét on Netflix and had no idea how much information I didn’t know about the case but also all the different set of scenarios that may have lead to her death.

It doesn’t seem that anyone was ever charged despite some really disturbing evidence and behaviours of people closed to her…

what does everyone else think happed?

There is unknown male dna under her nails.

No, there wasn't.

Sorry to interject, but yes there was.
In court transcripts there was unidentified DNA on her underwear and under her fingernails.

There is so much misinformation in this thread and within so many documentaries.

The full court transcripts are available. You’re better getting your ‘information’ from those rather than Google and random documentaries.

There was unidentified male (trace) dna on her underwear and longjohns, not under her fingernails.

I have read several books on the case, and watched most of the documentaries.

Tiny trace amounts - the sort that would be found under any of our fingernails - not the sort of dna that would be found in a struggle, but the sort (including some unknown female dna) one would expect to find under someone's nails after attending a Christmas party with multiple others, touching objects, doorknobs, etc. Most of the dna under JonBenet's fingernails was her own; and it is thought by the forensic pathologist Cyril Wecht that the minute traces of foreign DNA found were related to the nailclippers used at the morgue, and I believe that most of it was found to be related to other corpses in the morgue at the same time... So, hardly the smoking gun it sounds like.

fryanddry · 19/04/2023 10:51

It was probably her brother Burke, there’s a lot of circumstancial, evidence that point towards him
the biggest indicator for me is that he was awake eating pineapples and Jon benet had undigested pineapple in her stomach, patsy denied giving Jon benet pineapple

burke had struck Jon benet with a golf club prior to her murder because he got mad at her , so theirs a history of violence

patsys writing matches the intruder note, it is the longest ransom note ever written in recorded history , which indicates it was a red herring

Summerhouse2013 · 19/04/2023 11:04

It's a while since I saw any documentaries regarding this case, but the one thing that always stuck with me as odd was the ransom note demanded $118,000 dollars which was the exact same amount as the bonus the dad had received.

Who would have known the exact amount of bonus the dad had got? Got to be someone close...

Very obvious that Bourke did it. Parents covered it up to prevent losing 2 children. He couldn’t have been charge either way as he was only 9.

No, it's not "obvious".

This seems like the most likely scenario.

Have you listened to his interview? They were playing and she got hit with the club accidentally. He didn't go out of his way to hurt her.

I have read several books on the case, and watched most of the documentaries.

That’s cool. Now read the court transcripts. DNA, belonging to a male was under her fingernails and inside her underwear. The DNA under the nails and inside her underwear was from the same unidentified source.

I don’t care how many documentaries or books you have read, the only legitimate evidence is from the trial and is all in the public domain within the court transcripts.

There are documentaries and books that claim it was the mother who killed, or the dad, or the brother, or the weird guy who lives in a caravan near their house. The ONLY legitimate and accurate and true information is within the court documents, which all of these books and docos cherry pick information from.

There was unidentified male DNA under her fingernails that matched the DNA inside her underwear. The family paid several times over several years to retest this DNA to see if there were ever any matches within national databases.

PP have also pointed this out to you. But of course your books are correct and the court transcripts and police evidence are wrong 🙄

There is something seriously wrong if contaminated clippers were used to take nail samples from a murder victim. Who was supposed to have taken the samples? I hope they lost their job.

There was a documentary which restaged what the parents said. The ultimate thought was that the brother did it in a fit of rage and the parents covered it up. The brother had hit his sister over the head a few weeks before with a golf club. She died of a fracture to the skull which the documentary believed matched the shape of a hammer in the house. They also looked at the photos of the windows in the night of the incident and there were still cobwebs on them. The documentary said if someone had broken in like the parents said the cobwebs wouldn't be there. I'm pretty sure the ransom note left in the house matched the mum's handwriting. Very sad case.

All of this.

I have made quite the study of the case since it happened. From day one.

There was no intruder. The ransom note matched Patsy's handwriting and dramatic personality (no stranger killer sits around the house writing a three-page note, plus the false starts of the note found elsewhere, all using paper and pen from Patsy's kitchen.)

There's so much more. But incompetent police combined with wealth and political connections got them off.

I believe it was a tragic accident and they conspired to cover it up to spare the remaining child. If you read their book, it is clear that image, saving face and appearances were EVERYTHING to these people.

Read the accounts of their bizarre behaviour later, in Atlanta, faking a home invasion, for example.

It's pretty implausible that anyone else could have come into the house to do it

Even though the Ramsey held an open house (as they did at Xmas every year) the day before?!
I believe it's likely that a pervert had his eye on JB for a while and used the open house as an opportunity to get in and hide until nighttime to carry out the crime.

And how did they get out leaving no footprints in the snow??

Beezknees · 19/04/2023 13:04

AndTheSurveySays · 19/04/2023 09:28

If a stranger did it, it would mean they were smart enough not to leave any fingerprints or evidence behind, but dumb enough to commit the crime in the house where they could be heard and waste time writing a long rambling ransom note for no reason? Doesn't seem plausible to me at all

It's not uncommon for sexual offfenders to commit crimes in a victims home, it's part of their fetish, turns them on.

The friends of the Ramseys had been in the house and cleaned. It's very likely that evidence had been wiped away unknowingly.

Burke probably comes across as a bit weird because he's been accused by randoms of murdering his sister. He then had to watch as his mother slowly died of cancer and wasn't able to afford treatment.

And the ransom note?

thewinterwitch · 19/04/2023 13:04

The DNA under the nails and inside her underwear was from the same unidentified source.

They were not from the same unidentified source. They were weak samples of a couple of alleles, and could have belonged to - for example - any male with a particular colour of hair, blonde hair, dark hair, eg. It is not a significant finding. They were not proper DNA matches.

I don’t care how many documentaries or books you have read, the only legitimate evidence is from the trial and is all in the public domain within the court transcripts.

Which from the way you are interpreting them, are probably best left to actual experts in these fields.

Are you kidding? They were wealthy and she had state-of-the-art treatment. Few people survive ovarian cancer.

There is unknown male dna under her nails.

No, there wasn't.

Agree. That's another of those out of control falsehoods.

People need to read instead of relying on rando podcasts. And ignore that Lou Smith crackpot, who had religious reasons for allying himself with Patsy and John.

Kolar's book is credible. The Ramsay's own book all but screams "guilty" if you ask me.

The 911 call is also a key clue, as is Patsy's failure to change clothing or remove makeup overnight. Something happened and they spent all the overnight hours staging their coverup. Jonbenet's state of rigor proved the timing of death was not long after the family would have arrived home.

I don't believe she was being abused. It was some sort of accident or inadvertent injury.

Exactly. We all have others ' DNA on us, especially after a party. The DNA was not due to defensive gestures on her part.

John was a millionaire.

There was only tiny patches of snow on the grass quite away from the house. Look at the photos, there was no snow near the home, their pathway was perfectly clear.

I'm not prepared to go searching through the various interviews I've watched, it would a take more than a quick Google.

I think idle speculation about murdered children is ghoulish. It

Meanwhile crying, sobbing, shaking and pulling your little ones closer over yet another murdered child is more than acceptable on here 🙄
