Scot here.

No, I would not consider it racist. But, I'm old enough to remember Russ Abbot and his character CU Jimmy in the 1980s. Forty-odd years ago. It's hardly cutting-edge humour, is it? It's old, it's tired - it's a waste of £5.99.

Birdsmakingnests · 12/04/2023 16:17

From a Scottish ginger…..

it’s not offensive/racist at all!

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/04/2023 16:19

OP on a wind-up then.

Which is also tired and twatty.

@Puffalicious why? It's only a daft sterotype

FionnulaTheCooler · 12/04/2023 16:20

Not racist, the Edinburgh tartan tat shops are full of stuff like this. The only people who buy them are gullible tourists easily parted with their money, though.

Ramunea · 12/04/2023 16:22

I’m confused as to how a ginger wig under a hat would be considered racist. Ginger hair or Scottish people aren’t a race…

IVFNewbie · 12/04/2023 16:23

Cool- thanks all. Just interested.

As have all ethnic groups surely?

LakeTiticaca · 12/04/2023 16:29

Since when did the Scots become so sensitive?
I user to work with a crowd of Scots and several Irish people and they used to laugh and take the piss out of each constantly. Great bunch of people especially on a night out, everyone's face would be aching from laughter.
What happened?

I see what you did there !!!
what a homogenous mass of frivolity we are

Polis · 12/04/2023 16:32

What happened?

Nothing, apparently.

Nobody is offended.

Because people get xenophobia and racism muddled up?

Do you genuinely not see the difference between people laughing amongst themselves and being laughed at?

And an ethnic group that have participated in the discrimination of others.

It think you will find every ethnic group has participated in the discrimination of others. It is not an exclusive club.

Collaborate · 12/04/2023 17:00

I just wanted to say thank you for nothing. Now I'm going to have Amazon pester me to buy one of these damn things in perpetuity.

Arewehumanorarewecupboards · 12/04/2023 17:01

There was a recent thread about this. Are you all going to the same party?

Sartre · 12/04/2023 17:03

No, it’s just a bit stupid.

CrackerAndPudding · 12/04/2023 17:21

I dont think it's racist, or even offensive but I wouldn't find it funny either.

Its like a person shouting "och aye the noo" when you say you're Scottish. It's not funny and they look a bit silly but that's about it.

ginlovingqueen · 12/04/2023 17:56

Not as racist as Mike Myers character in Austin Powers. Fat Bastard

MissMaple82 · 12/04/2023 17:59

We had this same thread recently but with a rastafarian hat, yet everyone said that it was racist - why is that racist, but this isn't??????

MissMaple82 · 12/04/2023 18:01

By the way, I find neither racist, but a piece of fancy dress!

Do you really genuinely not know? Really?

Fandabedodgy · 12/04/2023 18:07

As a Scot I give you permission to wear said hat on the condition that you promise not to spend all night trying to say "Och aye the noo" in a fake Scottish accent.

TitoMojito · 12/04/2023 18:09

I'm Scottish and I couldn't care less about someone wearing a See You Jimmy hat.

Deathbyfluffy · 12/04/2023 18:10

Puffalicious · 12/04/2023 15:41

If I were from Yorkshire I wouldn't like that at all.

That probably says more about you than the hat - I'm also from Yorkshire, and I'd find it amusing.

Maybe you just need to lighten up a bit?
