Coming from another thread about CFs that was massively derailed, thread derailment is at the top of my list of CF behaviour on Mumsnet.
What is yours?

OP posts:
WhatTheHeckyPeck · 10/04/2023 12:32

People who insist that those living in social hosing that have spare rooms should be forced to downsize. I was told that I should give up my 2 bed and get a 1 bed place......even though I had pointed out that there were no 1 beds within a 30 mile radius and if I moved out of the area I would have to give up my job. The answer I got was "so what?"

Teenagequeenwithaloadedgun · 10/04/2023 12:33

People who make threads about themselves. For example, the OP might say 'AIBU to not like cheese?'

Then a poster comes along and says 'ooh how dare you, I have an illness that means I can only eat cheddar for every meal, how do you think I feel eh?'

Then goes on a massive merail.

Or posters that treat other posters like children. There's a thread at the moment where someone says 'HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU' to posters that they're disagreeing with, and I just wish people like that would fuck off. You can disagree without being a twat about it.

Onemyownhere · 10/04/2023 12:39

I wrote on a post that I bath my son and change his pj's everyday but I don't wash his pj's everyday... That lead to a debate lol

Quips like “the hills are that way >>>> “ when referring to leaving someone.

These make me laugh 😂

Starlitexpress · 10/04/2023 12:48

Has anyone been to Spain/Disney World/Watford, of course they have, just ask your question.

No paragraphs.

Restaurant recommendations for London, after much going back and forth, they want somewhere special in a particular area for fussy eaters at 1.30 on a Thursday and don't want to spend more than a tenner or book ahead.

My husband has chucked the kids out, beaten me to a pulp, killed the dog and smashed my phone and i don't know where to turn, first answer is "is he depressed or been diagnosed with autism ", no, he's a bastard you idiot.

@Mookie81 That's happening on the CF running Chinese thread. It's ridiculous!

The what thread?! May I ask what the title is please? I must've missed that one

This one. https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4778444-to-think-this-is-so-cheeky?page=26&reply=125310644
4 days later people are still posting telling her what to answer.

Page 26 | To think this is so cheeky? | Mumsnet

Mumsnet makes parents' lives easier by pooling knowledge, advice and support on everything from conception to childbirth, from babies to teenagers.

Luckydip1 · 10/04/2023 12:56

Complaining DH wants more sex than they do, yawn....

HuggingtheHRT · 10/04/2023 13:07

People feeling the need to draw attention to someone's poor spelling by asking what a word means when it's bleeding obvious from context.

"What's a penus. Please explain, Op"

TragicMuse · 10/04/2023 13:49

Pretty much all of these. ^

But especially^ the 'can't you just...' crowd - there's so rarely a 'just' about any major life adjustment and particularly when it's someone being systematically abused and hoovered. People in non-abusive situations need time to get themselves used to idea that they a) need to make a change and b) can actually do it, let alone someone who's been broken down by it all.

The attitude that it's easy to leave or easier if you aren't married really fucks me off.

Chucknee · 10/04/2023 14:36

I'm reminded of another one.

People who are at the end of their tether with how much they feel has been piled on them (woman's work/wife work/mental load etc) and posters are saying 'you've got it easy compared to me' as if it's competitive life Buckaroo.

Sometimes it's my DH tidying up a jumper that I can no longer find when I need it but it's the absolute end of a string of him moving things because it suits him and to hell with the rest of the family.

So to MN posters it's 'is that the worst thing to happen to you today?' or 'I've got it much worse than you, I don't even own any jumpers. Be thankful' But it's really non empathetic to how the OP feels then and there.

GMOOH2023 · 10/04/2023 14:42

Whilst I, of course, have sympathy for anyone who has been bereaved, people who jump on any old thread with "well at least you still have a Mum" (other relatives are available).

It's neither here nor there and absolutely no reason to put up with some of the appalling behaviour that is described on here daily.

SkyandSurf · 10/04/2023 14:51

@PSNonsense

Perfect example, thank you for providing it.

SauvignonBlanche · 10/04/2023 14:58
  • Jumping in with your, usually inane, advice without bothering to RTFT
  • Telling people to just get a car/au pair without considering their circumstances.
  • Zombie threads
  • Thread derailing
  • Anyone who says ‘cancel the cheque’.

TBF - the original "cancel the cheque" thread was hilarious because of the massive number of people who kept suggesting that and didn't bother reading any of the updates.

I think you may be a little obsessed, SkyandSurf.

Reading into things that aren't there could be a symptom of something.

Wisterical · 10/04/2023 15:28

'Posting for traffic' in AIBU.

Daleksatemyshed · 10/04/2023 15:30

People who don't bother to read the Ops updates, they've resolved everything and days later people are still coming to tell them what to do/say/leave-even if you can't be asked to read 15 pages at least read those parts

PriamFarrl · 10/04/2023 15:32

People who say something like ‘I quite agree with you PreviousPoster’ without actually quoting what they said which means you have to trawl through loads of posts to find out what they were agreeing with.

PriamFarrl · 10/04/2023 15:35

Oh, and people who don’t realise you can say cunt, fuck and shit on here so write c*nt, fuc and sh1t or other such bollocks.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 10/04/2023 15:42

Even better, 100s of posts in, huge dingdong going on with umpteen points of views expressed, someone says 'Yes I was thinking that', with no quote. (To be fair, the quote function is a bit erratic.)

Orangello · 10/04/2023 15:46

People who reply to OP by quoting the entire massively long first post. Why?

MisschiefMaker · 10/04/2023 15:52

People who make stuff up when they have no way of knowing what they claim to know e.g. "I bet the OP is one of those people who..." or "Thats not really what the teacher said is it". I posted once saying my DC had a health condition caused by medical treatment she received (I didn't go into more detail about the nature of it) and several people wrongly assumed I was an anti vaxxer whose DC had experienced a vaccine injury. Utterly bizarre. Why make stuff up?

PussBilledDuckyPlait · 10/04/2023 15:55

People who start threads telling you not to do something you have no intention of doing and/or that has no relevance to you whatsoever:

AIBU to ask you not to park in front of the gates at MyDcsSchool Mytown Myshire.

Hoppinggreen · 10/04/2023 15:56

“What do you think about xyz?”
“I didn’t come here to be judged- you’re all evil”!!!!!!!

LlynTegid · 10/04/2023 15:57

Zombie threads and non-returners top my list. Followed by The Paper that Supported the Blackshirts using threads.
