If you work/run a hotel/Airbnb, do you ever skip changing the sheets/duvet cover cos' they look clean and you can't be arsed? Be honest! 😀

Stayed in a hotel at the weekend and this thought crossed my mind.
I think I would do this if they looked clean and it was only one night.

No, never in 15 years of managing many apartments

beastlyslumber · 09/04/2023 12:59

Please god I hope not. And all bed washing needs to be done on a high temp, please.

Movinghouseatlast · 09/04/2023 13:01

I absolutely would never do that. The thought disgusts me to be honest.

mushroommummy · 09/04/2023 13:06

No never in 20 years, that’s awful!!

TyGoch · 09/04/2023 13:09

No, never!

Wafflefudge · 09/04/2023 13:10

I'm pretty laid back but would never do that. Worked cleaning a b and b for a year or so always changed the bedding. It was just part of the routine.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 09/04/2023 13:12

I once stayed in a hostel where the sheets had obviously not been changed (sand on the bottom sheet). Luckily I spotted it before getting in to bed (I decided to check as the room wasn't spotless). Nowhere else to stay as it was a small village so I complained and asked for new sheets. 🤮

Talia99 · 09/04/2023 13:40

Never. I worked in a hotel through university and while we didn’t change the sheets every day of a longer stay, we always, always changed them when the guest left ready for a new guest to go in.

LizzoBorden · 09/04/2023 13:50

Absolutely not.

FusionChefGeoff · 09/04/2023 13:52

I used to work in a small coaching inn type hotel when I was 18 and we were CRAP I mean absolutely awful employees. Doing drugs in the empty rooms, stealing booze, busier after hours lock ins than the whole legal evening....

But even then, I always changed the beds Grin

EggyBreads · 09/04/2023 13:54

No. I used to work in housekeeping
20 odd years ago and the standards of cleanliness where really high.

Simonjt · 09/04/2023 14:17

No, we don’t even leave blankets between guests.

Bigsighall · 09/04/2023 14:20

Nope, never!

RunningFromInsanity · 09/04/2023 14:21

I’m pretty sure the cottage I just stayed in didn’t change the bottom pillow cases.

I always strip the bedding before I leave so they have to change it for the next person.

AncientBallerina · 09/04/2023 14:22

I and I imagine many other people can smell if someone else has slept in a bed. There can be other signs also 🤮 which I have found in the past. I’ve often suspected that some hotels don’t wash towels but just tumble dry them.
Its just rank. Clean fresh towels and sheets should be a given.

2bazookas · 09/04/2023 14:40

Absolutely NEVER.

ImSweetEnoughDarlin · 09/04/2023 15:03

I pull all the sheets and used towels off into a pile near the door to ensure its all changed. I hope others do too.

MeliaLane · 09/04/2023 15:07

No never and that includes at home when my adult DC’s stay in a different bed.

Oh Lord this just made me heave! Please tell me they apologised profusely?!

Worked housekeeping for about 6 months and worked in a hotel for about 10 years on and off and helped in housekeeping and never known it, though I've had a few people accuse of it because there's been a mark on the sheet or duvet cover/pillow cases.

All places I've worked outsource laundry and sometimes they're marked and on something like a super king duvet cover on a very busy day when you're rushing and you're a human, a smaller mark can be missed unfortunately.

I've known the laundry company send back linen with really big marks on them, I was once setting for a wedding and 'boxing' (faffy and awkward way of making folding the cloth to make the table look like a box) the top table with 2 long cloths, got it all straight and level on the top ready to steam the creases out, stood back to check the front was straight to see about 10 large footprints across the cloths 🤦 I was furious because I had to start all over again and it was 2am and I wanted to go home! 😂 The funniest thing was they'd come out of the bag that had a quality control tag on so had been checked apparently by Stevie Wonder . Learned my lesson to look before I started boxing!

I’m so relieved to read the replies here!

TheOnlyAletheia · 09/04/2023 15:39

No, never

GooseberryCinnamonYogurt · 09/04/2023 15:45

I once stayed in a dubious 'hotel' in Petchaburi Thailand and the sheets were stained. I slept on the towel I brought with me and my sarong as a cover! On the wall was a notice, please leave the room as clean as you found it or you will be fined !!

Nope. They were put out at having to provide clean sheets.

EyesOnThePies · 09/04/2023 15:50

My Mum ran a B&B, wouldn’t have dreamed of leaving any used linen or towels!
You can tell, anyway.
