How is your Easter Sunday morning going?

I'm still in bed, the grandparents are taking dc to church this morning. We are having a roast tomorrow as some of the family have to work to today, so I really have no need to rush out of bed. The dc haven't even asked about Easter Eggs yet! Growing up it would have been chocolate for breakfast at my house, then a rush to get ready for church and straight to my grandparents for a roast dinner and more Easter eggs. Tell me about your morning.

Empty nest here, grown up kids doing other stuff. Saw PIL yesterday. I’ve got up and had a bacon sandwich and am off down to the allotment. DH having a lie in. All lovey and chilled. Roast lamb tonight.

I’m still in bed.

Was out last night and home quite late so still tired. Got up earlier to let the dogs out and feed them, and now I’m back in bed with a cat on top of me so clearly I can’t move. Would love another little sleep but don’t trust myself to just nap and not fall into a deep sleep and waste more of the day.

Did stir briefing earlier because my local church (I’m not a member/not religious) does an outdoor 6am Easter mass and the sound of hymns seeped through the windows at one stage.

Going to head out shortly and take the dogs to the woods for a good walk. Have meat on the fridge so might have a roast today, or will leave until tomorrow depending on what today brings.

Need to crack into an egg at some stage.

My aim for today is to read at least half of a new book.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate, and happy Sunday to all.

I'm writing the clues for the DCs egg hunt. Can't wait to see them trying to work it out. Now they're both secondary age I've gone more cryptic! 😁

SquidwardBound · 09/04/2023 09:53

We are going out for lunch later. The teenager is abstaining from
chocolate until after lunch because we are going to a Brazilian steakhouse and he wants to ensure he’s starving so he can eat as much as possible. He’s got a strategy too to maximise his available stomach capacity. 🤣

The toddler woke up at 5am with a bad dream (I think) so we’ve been awake for hours. He’s eaten half of his Easter egg at this point.

We’ll do an Easter egg hunt in the park on the way back from lunch.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 09/04/2023 09:56

DH is on his way home from a night away visiting family. Should arrive in the next hour.

DD10 & DD14 are both up. The latter has been painting, the former is negotiating when she can break into her first Easter egg. DS11 is still asleep..

I'm sat in PJs watching Smallville working up the energy to shower.

IHateLegDay · 09/04/2023 09:57

We woke up and the kids ran in asking if they could go down and see if the Easter bunny had been..... I'd forgotten to put the eggs out 😂🙈
Queue me telling them to play in their rooms for 10 minutes so I could run down and quickly set it up.

We brought them down and they were so excited! I sent DH back to bed to have a lie in and the kids and I have had a lazy morning eating Easter eggs and watching tv in our PJs 🥰

pizzaHeart · 09/04/2023 09:57

I woke up at 8.30 and was scrolling through news/MN etc I’m not feeling well (cold +periods) so no bigs plans for today. I’ve put chocolate mini eggs around living room for teen DD to find, just for a bit of fun.
Planning to go to a local NT place for lunch and walk later, it’s beautiful at this time of the year.

daffodilandtulip · 09/04/2023 10:01

I'm loving all the chilled posts. We used to plan all holidays, jam packed. That all stopped with covid and I've never started again ... but I feel guilty for not bothering, that I should be doing "something" and not "wasting time". How refreshing to see that it is just normal and fine to do nothing.

Lordofthebutterfloofs · 09/04/2023 10:01

Got up at 9 after a gentle wake up by DS's 10 and 6.75 ( 0.75 is VERY important right now 😁😂)

I don't know when they got up.

Just had coffee and they've had their egg. DH still in bed. My dry cough after my cold has now gone fully onto my chest and it hurts ☹️ took some Ibuprofen to help.

Now I'm going to get up and get the brisket into the slow cooker and head bam to the sofa with a packet of scotch pancakes to watch Green Eggs and Ham with the DC on netflix.

InglouriousBasterd · 09/04/2023 10:02

DD still fast asleep after a busy day yesterday - I’ve put her Easter eggs outside her door. She’s only expecting one of them so hopefully a mini pile will be a nice surprise!

Super lazy day here. We always watch a film with chocolate in the afternoon so will see what’s on. Salmon and new potatoes and veg for dinner. A quiet day is very welcome!!

SquidwardBound · 09/04/2023 10:02

I didn’t know that people actually set up Easter morning like Christmas with the Easter bunny visiting in the night.

Not actually mocking or sneering. I genuinely didn’t realise people made it an event of that type these days.

Our eggs are just sitting on the side and have been since we picked them up in the supermarket last week. The level of ceremony here has been ‘it’s Easter Sunday today; you can eat this of you like’.

Butteredtoast55 · 09/04/2023 10:05

Went to an Easter Day sunrise outdoor service and was home by 7:30 for hot cross buns and a cup of tea ☺️

Omg I forgot I have hot cross buns.

Screw the scotch pancakes. Buns for breakfast it is!

ZeroFucksGivenToday · 09/04/2023 10:05

Me and DD (10) at either end of the sofa, duvet in the middle of us.
We have done an egg hunt inside and I debated a walk around a localism car boot but DD can't be bothered.

PJ day planned, with a roast dinner later, and maybe some board games, and definitely a film.

Im currently drinking coffee and MNetting, DD is on Roblox.

Happy Easter to you all.

WhatTheHeckyPeck · 09/04/2023 10:07

Looking after FiL's dog this weekend. So far today we've gone for a walk, played catch and played "chase around the garden" as I tried to retrieve the sock that he stole from the washing I was hanging out. He's now asleep on "his" chair looking all cute probably thinking of more ways to run me ragged. We've had him since Thursday evening and he's not due to go home until Tuesday morning. I think I may be a shell of a woman by then.

bloodywhitecat · 09/04/2023 10:08

Currently midway through mowing the lawn now I have got the bastard lawnmower started.

Later DD and Dsoninlaw are calling in for lunch. I am looking forward to the company

Mistymoonsinastarrysky · 09/04/2023 10:12

Very quiet here, DH has just left for a long walk with DDog, the leg of lamb is in the oven, slow cooking, vegetables all prepped and I’m considering going outside to sort out my pots but it’s really chilly and grey (where’s the sunshine that was forecast?) and looking like rain.
We’ll have a roast dinner then do very little this afternoon, it’s nice to be lazy occasionally!
No Easter eggs here but I do have a chocolate rabbit somewhere.

Christmasisshit · 09/04/2023 10:32

Just on my walk back home after singing the Easter Service. Lovely uplifting service and we (the choir) managed all the tricky descants and stuff spring on us late last week. Good job we like a challenge. Early start at 05:30 to put eggs out for the boy. Might go for a drive to the coast this afternoon. Then roast chicken for dinner.

UndercoverCop · 09/04/2023 10:36

Eggs this morning before DH went to work, DS has had a gingerbread bunny after his breakfast, we've built an epic train track, with various worlds, there's a farm area, a dock with crane, boats and apparently pirates, a firestation, a school, space station and an airport, ballots rescue/escape scenarios being played out. I'm about to go for a shower. Honey roast gammon, Boulanger potatoes and veg for dinner

Dibbydoos · 09/04/2023 10:43

In a hotel about 1.5 hours from home. DS in his own your, DD with me.
AAWe were at a party last night, it was fun until the end when DS and DD had a bust up... Not looking forward to the drive home.... God, give me some chocolate 😁

Queeniewag · 09/04/2023 10:51

Disaster. Got up at 5.45 to put out tons of mini eggs, choc lollies, gold bunnies was a great haul my kids were so excited about waking up this morning. Very proud of myself. Went back to bed and woken at 7.30 by screams. Bloody fox was in the garden taking ALL the choc. Literally the only things left were things I’d managed to hang on the washing line. He’d even managed to get stuff down off the basketball hoop! He was bold as brass didn’t even run away when I went out to chase him off. Think there was about 8 mini eggs left for the kids! We are almost laughing about it now.

willowtree66 · 09/04/2023 10:57

Still in bed, DH made breakfast in bed for me and our guests, who are just getting up. DH now preparing the turkey for lunch. I'm listening to Radio 2, and contemplating getting up to walk the dogs.

Elsanore · 09/04/2023 10:58

Grumpy arse DP pissing me off and claiming he's not in a mood. Might take DC out myself and leave him to it.

Neverknowinglysensible · 09/04/2023 11:08

Very quiet here. Cleaned the kitchen. DH not at all well and has just dragged himself out of bed so will now change the bedding before more gardening. Grandchildren coming around later and my Dad will pop in.
Roast gammon for dinner tonight, husband hates it so he can have an Aldi lamb shank instead!
