How is your Easter Sunday morning going?

I'm still in bed, the grandparents are taking dc to church this morning. We are having a roast tomorrow as some of the family have to work to today, so I really have no need to rush out of bed. The dc haven't even asked about Easter Eggs yet! Growing up it would have been chocolate for breakfast at my house, then a rush to get ready for church and straight to my grandparents for a roast dinner and more Easter eggs. Tell me about your morning.

We had an indoor egg hunt as the Easter bunny took one look at my overgrown garden and fucked off.

The dc had 10 minutes to gorge themselves on chocolate then it got put away to be doled out slowly over the next month. I'm now having a coffee in bed while ds plays his loud tablet next to me and dd is organising her woodlice. Creepy little beasts.

booksahoy · 09/04/2023 09:20

@Wazzzzzuuuuuuup Ah, thank you! I am an advocate of retail staff getting holiday days off so I'm pleased they're shut really. But not for your DC it seems! That's rubbish 😕

OldTinHat · 09/04/2023 09:21

I'm still in bed despite being awake since before 6am. Have eaten a large chocolate egg and had a bucks fizz. Might just stay here all day doing the same on repeat!

No DC here so it's nice and relaxing.

I've just had breakfast and I'm off on a two hour beach ride shortly. DH is still in bed, the animals have been fed and it's all very peaceful Grin

I'll have my egg when I'm back from stables around lunchtime!

Can we trade mornings please? 🤣 I want this one

Nothing too stressful here, will do an egg hunt for kids a little bit later (no Easter bunny here) kids are watching tv at the moment.
Taking them to a trampoline park this afternoon,

FiveGoMadInDorset · 09/04/2023 09:22

Back from walking the dog, bacon is on, then sorting out a suitcase for Dd’s trip tomorrow, mowing the lawn and then out for dinner.

IHeartGeneHunt · 09/04/2023 09:23

Up at 6 for indoor egg hunt, walked the dog, now we're having breakfast and watching cbeebies. It's chilly here. I'm making Easter lunch later and my friend is coming over.

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 09/04/2023 09:23

@Daydreamer123456 it really is a great morning Grin

Stables are only a few minutes drive away as well so no need to worry about BH traffic or rushing about to get ready - I just turn up, get on my horse and go!

RedKathy · 09/04/2023 09:23

I'm on holiday and it's beautifully quiet. Lovely weather so far. I'm staying with family in Spain and I wish I could stay forever.

MrsMontyD · 09/04/2023 09:25

Had two cups of tea in bed, courtesy of DP who's downstairs watching crap telly and happy for me to stay in bed. Just contemplating going down for breakfast. We're having lunch out later, nothing else planned, might potter in the garden this afternoon. I suspect teenager DD is eating chocolate in her room as she hasn't surfaced for food yet.

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 09/04/2023 09:26

booksahoy I think you will be disappointed, most places are shut today. It's apparently some weird trading rule, odd that it carries on when Christianity is a minority viewpoint now. My neighbour is missing her usual Sunday shift at the garden centre which she loves.

Here we have the second load of washing on, first lot already pegged out. Lots of gardening planned but will leave mowing the lawns until a bit later when I can see that my teenage neighbour has got up, he had a late shift last night so will want to sleep it off. Lunch will be a sandwich and soup from the freezer, I don't have time/inclination to cook.

Nobody of the Easter egg age here any more.

inappropriateraspberry · 09/04/2023 09:31

Cuppa in bed whilst children looked at all the eggs left by the Easter Bunny! Just had some toast and a shower.
DH will take kids out for a little walk so I can put eggs in garden for a hunt, then a roast lunch and a quiet afternoon. Probably do games/puzzles with the kids.

Xrays · 09/04/2023 09:33

All got up around 8 and I feel like an idiot because I promised everyone we’d all go and have pizza express today and wander round the city centre - completely forgetting most shops and big car parks are shut. 😳🤦🏼‍♀️😆 Oops. We will go tomorrow.

dementedpixie · 09/04/2023 09:33

Dh and I up and having a hot drink. Likely won't see the kids (16 and 19) until closer to lunchtime

I'm in Scotland so lots of our shops are open including supermarkets although may have shorter hours than usual

dementedpixie · 09/04/2023 09:36

My local B&Q stores are open 9-6 (scotland)

Crunchymum · 09/04/2023 09:37

DC2 is ill. Horrible cough, sore throat and just feeling crap. So looks like we'll have to cancel plans (Easter egg hunt and dinner at grandparents). Trying to see if daddy will sit with DC2 or take the others? Although he had made plans today so he'll have to cancel 😞.

cafecreme · 09/04/2023 09:37

Lying in bed drinking tea with dd who is nibbling my chocolate egg because she doesn’t want to start on her own🙃

Im getting up now because it’s a very pretty day here and I want to get outside for a walk. No idea what I’m cooking later, dh has offered a bbq so I may just do some salads, eat more chocolate and drink a glass of rose later in the sunshine.

hopeishere · 09/04/2023 09:38

Very boring. DH did get me an egg though. Contemplating taking the dog for a walk and putting in some washing. We've no plans until dinner out this evening.

starfishmummy · 09/04/2023 09:41

Cuppa in bed and the sunday papers has just arrived. DS will be at the grandparents. We had our "Sunday roast" yesterday (so DS who loves a roast didn't miss out) so a lazy day is planned.

MyFaceIsAnAONB · 09/04/2023 09:42

We’re on hols, I sent DH and the kids out for a walk, and my mum heard the door go and came in immediately 🙃🙃 I sent her away politely as I need some quiet time. They sat in our holiday house on their iPads last night, couldn’t they have done that in theirs? Not like they were spending time with us 😂 anyway, off topic.
Im going to set up an egg hunt but the baby is asleep in the room where the eggs are so I am not going in there. Currently watching Rain Dogs, very jolly. Roast, then family coming over for a walk.

Shergill15 · 09/04/2023 09:44

Little egg hunt done in the garden for DD. Nice day here so 2 loads of washing hung out. DD has had chocolate eggs for breakfast with a token handful of fruit. Off to an organised hunt at a local lake with some friends shortly. Then probably a lazy lunch and afternoon, more chocolate. DD's session at Youth Club is running later so she'll be off to that.

MeinKraft · 09/04/2023 09:44

Up at 6.30 to fire eggs around the garden, then egg hunt at 7.30 when the DCs got up. Everyone still in pyjamas, watching nonsense on YouTube and eating chocolate for breakfast. I'm preparing the roast dinner for later in between cups of tea. We'll go and visit family later then maybe go to the park for a bit of fresh air, then dinner and collapse!

gluenotsoup · 09/04/2023 09:46

Lovely so far! Up at 7.30 to see the eggs and so on from the Easter bunny, scrambled eggs for breakfast plus some chocolate. Currently watching the Peter Rabbit film before a shower etc. This afternoon it’s an egg hunt in the garden and a roast dinner. We’ve got a half finished game of monopoly from last night, and they want to play Chameleon later. 🐣

Bicnod · 09/04/2023 09:48

Kids (8, 11 and 13) let us have a lie in 😊 egg hunt done upstairs as puppy likely to eat the chocolate if downstairs... Everyone very chilled, full of chocolate and currently in PJs. Going to friend for bbq later.

Eggsley · 09/04/2023 09:48

DC are up and have done an egg hunt in the house. Both had chocolate for breakfast. I'm about to do toast for me and DH, with our second cup of tea. Over to my parents for lunch today, and my mum has sorted an Easter egg hunt there too. After lunch we will come home and probably watch a movie. Crumpets for tea.

Looking forward to doing some jobs round the house tomorrow, it needs some tlc. We need to go to B&Q as well, so thanks to a pp for the tip to get there early!

Cuppaand2biscuits · 09/04/2023 09:49

My children are at the wonderful age where they'll happily lie in bed until 9am but still be up for an egg hunt later. I've put some washing put yesterday's washing away, breakfasted with one child, just about to run the hoover round then we're of on an egg hunt.
No chocolate has been consumed yet this morning but only because no one fancied it
