Do you buy your kids Easter eggs?

And if so how old are they?

Mine and nearly 2 and 4. I’ve never got them eggs and tbh I don’t really give them all that we get given. They get given so many 6+ each and they are only small. They get the odd one but they get so many. DH and I tend to scoff them instead… In fact I’m eating one right now.

I don't usually as grandparents get them a big egg which is plenty and they have chocolate as a regular treat anyway.

RufustheSpeculatingreindeer · 07/04/2023 20:20

Yes, 24, 21 and 19

also buy an egg for the 24 year olds 27 year old partner

and I buy myself one as well 😀

Yep, I do an Easter egg hunt in the garden for mine. I hide lots of small eggs around the garden and they get one big one each. I still get an Easter egg off my parents and I’m 42 😂

Q2C4 · 07/04/2023 20:25

I wouldn't eat an Easter Egg that someone gave me for the DC but I do ration consumption - we still had some left at Christmas last year.

MeMyBooksAndMyCats · 07/04/2023 20:25

No.

Ds7 is diabetic so don't like the idea of too much temptation in the house.

So both dc get Lego which they're happier about!

dementedpixie · 07/04/2023 20:26

I bought 1 giant egg each for me, dh, dd and ds.
I bought 1 largish one each for my mum and for my nephew and then smaller ones for my sister and her kids.

KeepYouForever · 07/04/2023 20:26

Yes. They’re 15 and 19 and still get lots of eggs from us. Youngest is also getting a gift and oldest some cash.

Many people on mumsnet don’t reflect real like for me when it comes to Easter and Xmas.

Morningcoffeeview · 07/04/2023 20:26

I feel so bad now. They couldn’t possibly eat them all! They do have chocolate but not that much, certainly not everyday.

dementedpixie · 07/04/2023 20:27

If they get lots from other people then why not do a small gift instead?

CMOTDibbler · 07/04/2023 20:28

Yes, but he doesn't get from anyone else

DHsPoorBack · 07/04/2023 20:29

Yes, all 3DC have several small eggs to find in a hunt, and a larger one. Plus a few bits from grandparents etc.

If there's too many, we just hide and ration over the forthcoming weeks. There's nothing like the feeling of seeing all those eggs as a little child, I remember it well. All the shiny foil, fancy boxes, and actually belonging to little old me, I felt oh so special!

MajorCarolDanvers · 07/04/2023 20:31

Yes 14 and 10

I also buy for DH and nieces.

None for me as am dieting

SlicerAndEcho · 07/04/2023 20:31

I got mine a little chocolate bunny each, and they have an egg from my parents and their great-gran. 3 each seems fine… although the village does an egg hunt and they get loads of minis there too.

DrMeredithGrey2023 · 07/04/2023 20:34

Yes, they are 8 and 5.

I also don't eat (or allow DP to) any of the eggs given to them.

If they have a lot of eggs and I don't think they'll get through them then they'll use them in baking.

user1471453601 · 07/04/2023 20:35

My daughter is 52. I buy her an egg. If her long term partner liked chocolate, I'd buy them one too. But they dont, so I've given them the equivalent price towards their garden shed.

why not? She's undoubtedly an adult, but she's also undoubtedly my daughter too.

I got a bottle of gin and a small box of caramel chocolates. I got the better end of the deal 😁

Over weeks, they couldn’t possibly eat them all? That’s not true is it, of course they could, a little but here and there. Just an excuse to stuff your own face with them when people have bought them for your children. 🤣

stormelf · 07/04/2023 20:37

My kids are 1, 3 and 5. I usually do a little Easter egg hunt around the garden where they get about 4 tiny edible treats, 4 non edible treats (book, colouring pens, bubbles etc) and then a small chocolate bunny at the end. The chocolate is put away and rationed out throughout the weeks. They usually get one small egg each from grandparents. This year I'm not doing a hunt as their dad is working so I've got them two little chocolate lollies each and a small chocolate rabbit

Snugglemonkey · 07/04/2023 20:38

I do a wee Easter egg hunt. There will be small chocolate eggs around the garden, along with filledeggs ai got on Amazon. This year's are wee Lego type things:

JOYIN 12 Pcs Prefilled Easter Eggs with Construction Vehicles Building Blocks amzn.eu/d/iz4XAKp

The baby is getting a set of glowing disco ducks for the bath in hers.

fluffysocks3 · 07/04/2023 20:43

Yes just a small one though. I tried to pre empt family buying them and fairly obviously said he needed some new clothes so instead of chocolate would love a fiver towards a new coat for him 😂

Morningcoffeeview · 07/04/2023 20:48

We did do an Easter egg hunt! I’m not all bad..!

I mean they could but I don’t think it would do them any favours. I don’t think a one year old should be getting through the quantity of chocolate he is given. It’s not just Easter, there’s Christmas too. We’ve got chocolate coins and Santa lolly’s etc still from Christmas!

elliejjtiny · 07/04/2023 20:52

We don't because they will get plenty from other people. We normally get them a Lego set for the younger ones or a CD for the older ones. Then they will get a big egg, 2 medium eggs and a little one each from family. They will get about £5 each in cash too which I will either use to buy craft stuff or put towards a family day out.

HouseofGods · 07/04/2023 20:59

We do a Easter egg hunt with the small ones, but like Halloween they seem to enjoy the game aspect more than the actual treats. Please note this is not any kind of humble brag, they eat plenty of sweets and coke/irn bru - far more than anyone on here seems to admit to anyway.

They get big eggs from grandparents, aunt, school/nursery and football so we gave them the choice of an egg or a game for the switch - they chose the game.

Chocolate lasts ages. 🤷🏻‍♀️ You said nearly 2 and 4. It’s not poison, except on mumsnet. 😂
