How many people do you know with Covid right now?

LicoriceComfit · 07/04/2023 08:38

I know many people are not testing but I need to for my work.

I felt really sick and tested negative, but it was positive the next day. I’m feeling fairly rough, tired, no sense of smell, all the usual things. Two of the days I was incredibly wheezy.

A few days ago I was out with friends, half of us have tested positive and have symptoms. My son - who wasn’t out with us - now has it.

I know of two people currently in hospital with it.

I don’t know if this is being replicated as a new wave around the country, or just in my circle in Glasgow.

It does for those of us who have to request antivirals if we get.covid..

Sorry for your loss Flowers

Thank you, I appreciate it, and yes there are exceptions like this which do matter x

Today no-one, in the last 2 months: 9 people from 4 families (1 family of which probably caught it from another of the infected families I know). The others had had no contact with each other. London/South-East

MegaClutterSlut · 07/04/2023 09:49

I had covid last week, felt like shite for 4 days then I was fine. Dh and ds had it too. Been doing the rounds at work

I still test because dads in a care home and don't fancy wiping them out 🙄 my mum is vulnerable too so I'd be an arsehole not to test

Nobody. Know a few people who had it a few weeks ago.

I agree about the testing. I tested because I didn’t want to inflict this on anyone else. I have been out for short walks with dog etc but apart from that not been in contact with the general public.

Wrongsideofpennines · 07/04/2023 09:53

One colleague had it last week, another the week before. Minimal symptoms. One friend's mother has it but no symptoms. North West and South East and no Scottish connections.

Ninini · 07/04/2023 10:14

Anecdotally lots of people I know seem to have it at the moment or have had it recently, both in our local area and also colleagues in other parts of the country. We only tested last time as we were fairly certain it was Covid and have some elderly family members who are very cautious.

PanettoneMoly · 07/04/2023 10:17

None. But I do know of 3 people with ski injuries if that helps. Believe the ONS official Covid case estimate has been axed now.

Hbh17 · 07/04/2023 10:24

None. Obviously, most people don't test. But why does it matter? I don't know how many people have a cold/cough/flu/gangrene etc! The stats are irrelevant. It is a minor illness, that most of us will probably get a few times but, if we are vaccinated, is just not important. Why are people desperate to still spread panic when it's probably 2.5 years since most of us lost interest in this completely?

Iwasafool · 07/04/2023 10:26

I know 3 definite at the moment and 2 who probably have it but don't have tests. I've never known this many people with it at once throughout the pandemic.

I wasn’t aware I was spreading panic.

I was interested to read whether the rise in numbers near me was a blip or not.

some way of my kid had chickenpox and five of their primary school chums had the same, is be asking if it were just us.

Me! Not as bad as the first time 18 months ago, which was awful, but been in bed for four days and expect to be for a couple more.

Arapawa · 07/04/2023 10:29

Me and DH have just recovered from it. Don't understand anyone NOT testing. We were exhausted for several days and coughing, sore head. DH still not tasting food.

TriggeredByGravy · 07/04/2023 10:34

I work in covid medicines triaging vulnerable people for anti viral treatments. Hardly anyone is unwell enough to be referred and that's been the case for a while now.

as for @Arapawa - do you want to buy my tests for me?

A test costs £2. Can you really not afford that? If you are working with vulnerable people then you should know how important it is to know if you have covid.

Escapetofrance · 07/04/2023 10:54

Dh had it last week and was really unwell. He’s much better now.

GobbieMaggie · 07/04/2023 10:56

Three and one died last night. She was 59.

Tellmethespoiler · 07/04/2023 10:59

I tested positive about three weeks ago. I was quite ill and off work. I’m just beginning to feel better now. I’m clinically vulnerable.

I was going to leave some flippant comment, but that is truly very sad. I am so sorryFlowers

mondaytosunday · 07/04/2023 11:06

One, who has medical issues preventing her from getting any vaccinations. She has managed to avoid it so far, and luckily now it is just like a bad cold. She took four tests as she couldn't believe it.
Don't know anyone else, but most people I know have had it at one time or another, sometimes a few times, all vaccinated so luckily only mildly.
The one I know who died wasn't vaccinated.
I've never had it as far as I know, neither my daughter who is on the tube twice a day.

lljkk · 07/04/2023 11:12

DS is testing tonight so may need to update then ! Has an activity tomorrow, with very not vulnerable people, actually, but it's a free & unusual opportunity, great fun day out so we comply with the request whatever their reasons. We decided to send the unused tests with him because they will probably expire before we would need them again, and one of the other attenders may need one. There was only one type available in local supermarket, I wonder for how much longer the tests will be easy to get hold of for cheap.

I don't know if people (I know) are testing or not because we don't talk about it & I don't need to know. One of the PTA volunteers had it about 2m ago, is last time I heard of anyone having it.

I lost interest in whether I ever got C19 in December '20.

TooOldForThisNonsense · 07/04/2023 11:12

Christmascracker0 · 07/04/2023 09:43

Also - I tested because I knew I had been in contact with someone with covid and my mum is on chemo.

What I had was not “just a cold”, I wouldn’t say it was similar to a cold at all.

So variable isn’t it. I could easily have been lulled into a sense of false security and out spreading it as my first test was negative, and written it off as a cold.

tatteddear · 07/04/2023 11:16

I tested positive for it a week after starting to feel poorly. Like Pp it's probably the worst I've ever felt. This is the beginning of week 3. Dh and dd1 have had it but didn't feel as bad or for as long. Anecdotally alot of people in my group have it and seem to
Feel pretty shitty with it this time

TriggeredByGravy · 07/04/2023 11:22

@Arapawa I'm not buying tests - there's no need for me to. I triage over the phone if that helps.

Purplecatshopaholic · 07/04/2023 11:24

Of those colleagues who choose to test, I have 2 off with covid and at least 2 other suspected cases who didn’t test. Also Central Scotland.
