For me it’s the utterly obscure baby names. We’ve all seen them and I’m quite sure nobody uses them in real life. Yet on MN, it’s apparently standard.

Honourable mention to the 50% of posters whose husbands are earning upwards of £100K too.

OP posts:

The complete fixation on class and having to categorise everything as working, middle and upper class under the guise of 'anthropological interest' while jizzing their pants over anything upper class

Toilet brushes. Until Mumsnet I didn't know it was such a heinous crime.

Is it?

"We're of a family of 2 adults, 4 children, 3 dogs, 7 cats and a couple of hamsters and our weekly food shop comes to £45. How on earth are you spending so much on your shop?!"

There was a post I read that genuinely claimed to be feeding 3 adults on £25 a week. Like fuck is anybody spending that on 3 adults unless they also happen to be growing their own fruit and veg, getting eggs from their own chickens and slaughtering their own meat. I can’t decide if these people just lie because they haven’t been inside a shop and seen what things cost in the last few decades or if they have some sort of agenda.

kids sharing a bedroom is some form of child abuse.

Correcting grammar!

Fine, some people don't know the difference between they're, there and their, or you're and your. You really don't have to pop into a thread to be a condescending prick over a missing apostrophe or colloquial English.

Oh BuT iT bOtHeRs mE -- no one gives a shit, Janet!

Fifi1010 · 01/04/2023 01:30

That LTB seems to be a standard response for a lot of minor issues that could be resolved with communication. That divorce won't necessarily make the person's life easier.

Irecan · 01/04/2023 01:30

Oh I have another… finding sex boring and being offended when husband/ partner attempts to have sex with you.. it’s clearly abuse and not a husband trying to be intimate with their wife!

I hate this reminds me of a bunch of try hard Hyacinth Buckets I've never heard anyone in real life discuss class 🤣🤣🤣.

SuffolkUnicorn · 01/04/2023 01:32

They all seem to live ‘rurally’ yet have every shop within a short distance. I’ve lived in a very rural area and it was 40 miles to a supermarket

gousto

rugby playing teens who eat like shire horses

everything homemade 🙄 ok

help me pick a name- why on earth would you want a stranger pick your child’s name? So if anyone in RL asks how did they pick their child’s name do they say oh a stranger picked it on mumsnet 😂 weird

Everyone has a highly paid and/or high stress job that allows them time to post 50 replies to the same thread on MN in the space of 2 hours.

This one has always baffled me, honestly I worked as a nanny and assuming some of my employees would have been as rich as some mumsnetters but just can’t see them having time for this level of crazy.

These threads.

They happen all the time and make everyone hate each other.

Fun times!

Nobody is allowed (aloud) to expect a single penny of inheritance from their parents and you cannot be concerned if they are pissing their pensions up the wall on crack and caravans because It's Their Money and they can do what they want with it (and they probably have dementia anyway...)

JaneJeffer · 01/04/2023 01:43

I don't get how all these people see Mumsnetters as separate to them when they are Mumsnetters too. Weird.

Diorinthecountry · 01/04/2023 01:43

Carbs are EVIL no one should eat them ever.

Have you had your thyroid checked?

What age are you? I am thinking you are peri.

Any whiff of media drama and boom... its like chicken run on here. Threads and threads about Airfryers becouse cookers use £1000 a minute and a competition to see who is sitting in the coldest darkest room.

A little celebrity gossip in the media and the thread goes like this...

Poster 1 - always knew there was something funny about them.
Poster 2 - had no interest in them for years.
Poster 3 - I've hated them since they were conceived.

All men are bastards

No one uses anything that's free and just as good. No on here they pay a monthly subscription.

All tv/films are utter shit unless it's Swedish with subtitles.

Everyone flings money about. Someone starts a thread about the cost of something. Cue 999 posts saying well if you can afford it. Even if they can afford it, generally people like to keep money not give it away to big companies.

Rubbishing America as a competitive sport.

Actually just remembered another - Labelling everything as an “American import” even (sometimes especially) when it’s something with strong Scottish or Irish roots.

Irecan · 01/04/2023 01:44

If someone asks for financial advice..

why are you living in an expensive city? move

why haven’t you attempted to earn more/ go back to university/ retrain?

why did you have a baby if you didn’t know the cost of childcare?

Not reading the entire thread. Especially when it's designed to be goady.

Oops didn't past post 1.

Your thread annoys me.

Everything that is part and parcel of everyday life seems very over complicated on here.
God help you should you dare to put a positive spin on anything.
The Christmas threads are a real eye opener, and l do have a Titter at the competitiveness in winning matter of the year award.
