Just saw this quote. So funny

RIP Paul O'Grady

I looked after him years ago, after his second heart attack. He always said it would be another one that got him in the end. A genuinely lovely man.

Saucery · 29/03/2023 08:14

He was so generous to the Salvation Army, highlighting all the good work they do despite sitting in front of one of the higher-ups telling him that as a gay man he would never be completely welcome.

From Lily S to his dog rescue work he was a Class Act.

Great comedian, his acid tongue was hilarious. A massive loss of someone who was real and genuine. His Great love of animals shone through brightly.
I hope he goes to doggy heaven where the wagging tails will be waiting for him.
Rest in peace Paul ❤

I can just imagine him crossing over the rainbow bridge with so many beloved pets waiting for him at the other side. Buster and Olga right at the front of course. ❤️

OMG thats devasting. His books were fantastic. Such alot of good work with the animals. He always hinted he wouldnt get to a ripe old age. Thoughts are with his family 🙁💐

Did he?
I'm so sad to wake up to this news
but I cannot bear the thought of getting older as most relatives have, so if he didn't want it either, then...I understand.

His work with animals was so great ❤️

Enfys1982 · 29/03/2023 08:29

Such sad news to wake up to. He seemed like a genuinely nice person.

Rubyupbeat · 29/03/2023 08:30

This hit me hard, he seemed a genuinely lovely man.
Love to his family.

One of those ones that hits really hard, even though I've never met him.

At least he died suddenly and peacefully, so didn't suffer, according to his partner Andre Portasio.

I just did a search on Facebook and there was pictures taken recently of someone meeting him just 5days ago and he was smiling with a drink in his hand. ❤️

There was a guy on the BBC saw him yesterday and he seemed fine. I always thought this would happen in his 60s because of his heart problems in the past. He was a great guy and will be missed.

Inastatus · 29/03/2023 08:33

Very sad. He was one of my Mum’s favourites (she was a fellow scouser). Seemed like he had a heart of gold 😢

ArcaneWireless · 29/03/2023 08:37

A good soul. so sad.

Lavenderzen · 29/03/2023 08:38

Such sad news. My Nan loved Paul, we would watch Lily Savage together when I was small and then the Paul O'Grady show when I was older, she loved him and Buster the dog. Many happy memories of her tied up with him. Very sad.

I could have write this myself.

So sad.

Suzi888 · 29/03/2023 08:41

Sad, depressing news to wake up to.

He seemed a genuinely lovely, kind person.

RIP.

Choconut · 29/03/2023 08:42

It sounds like he just died quietly in his sleep which is a lovely way to go (IMO) even if it was too soon.

NortieTortie · 29/03/2023 08:42

Oh that's terrible. I used to watch him all the time after school. Very sad news.

Jojoanna · 29/03/2023 08:43

Very sad news. I liked him a lot

ssd · 29/03/2023 08:46

Loved him on the radio

RIP

Azerothi · 29/03/2023 08:47

One of the funniest things I ever saw was Paul O'Grady with 'Nan' on The Catherine Tate show. Comedy genius from both. Also the series he did on The Orient, fabulous stuff.

Birdsbirdsbirds · 29/03/2023 08:49

This has really got me. It's funny isn't it, someone you've never met. Clearly he had such an impact on so many people. Reminds me of watching his show with my nan, she's in her nineties now and quickly declining. Kind of whips you back to reality doesn't it. So so sad.

Cliff1975 · 29/03/2023 08:52

So sad. I saw him as Lily years ago in 'prisoner cell block H the musical' he was brilliant. The curtains opened to him stood in the dock of the court outraged that he had been accused of stealing sausages. So funny without even saying a word- amazing stage presence. RIP

Moaning5 · 29/03/2023 08:53

Never cried before over a celebrity passing.

What a lovely, lovely man.
