Yes but no-one has heard of them in Britain. My great-great-grandfather was a very famous Polish painter, Juliusz Kossak. His direct descendants include three other (male) painters (the youngest, my grandmother's brother, was my godfather) and three famous women writers, plus a woman ecologist who lived in a cottage in a primeval forest with a pet boar, raven, owl, and other animals. One of my grandmother's cousins was married to Witkacy, a painter, writer, dramatist, and general polymath who was also fond of experimenting with psychoactive substances. And my father has a dinosaur named after him which is probably the coolest thing of all.
