What is being delivered to you today?

We're going away for Easter, so I've ordered a few things for the first time in ages, and I'm childlishly excited about today's deliveries:

New swimsuit for me - I've ordered 2 so that in theory the one that suits me less can go back, but realistically I know I'm hoping to keep them both. There was a 25% discount code, so really, I'm SAVING money. 😉

Beauty Pie order - mostly just a restock for me & dd1, but still fun.

A dress from the clearance sale on Joules, but that might not come til tomorrow. I haven't bought new clothes since September, so this is quite exciting even if it was only £23.

Trainers for dd1 from Ebay

GCSE language workbooks for dd1 (less thrilling, but quite a coup to find this specific book and have it delivered before her class today).

I much prefer this to actually going out shopping.

Nothing today but yesterday I received my new laundry sorter basket with four removable bags and I'm very excited! We had one with three compartments but they weren't removable so I wanted something a bit better. DH put it together last night and it looks like it'll really help.

Also got some cake boxes for DD's party next week, and a vertical document rack for stowing away the various bits of paperwork the kids bring home from school.

Next I'm looking for a tall, stable shoe rack and a free standing coat rack or rail...

5l extra virgin olive oil
Cardigan
Prescription meds
Toothbrush holder
16kg flour
Roll of bright blue rubble sacks.

Before I get accused of frivolity.....
The oil and flour are because I bake my own bread. One child is super fussy and will only eat homemade bread. The other children is dairy free so olive oil works really well as a substitute for butter in the recipe I use.

Toothbrush holder and rubble sacks are for a residential weekend activity break type thing. Said child going will refuse point blank to brush their teeth if they think the toothbrush is 'dirty', hence the toothbrush holder. Rubble sacks are so any wet/muddy/lake water infested clothes can go in the bag for me to deal with when they get home. I have learned the hard way not to use black bin bags as they get mixed up with rubbish bags and chucked out accidentally. All the supermarket had was black rubble sacks.

Prescription meds. A bit obvious this one.

You're my tribe 😅

I had 10+ parcels delivered from online only retailers with clothes for DS and I for holiday - will keep some, others will need to be returned.

Today is less exciting, expecting cat litter and a load of bits and pieces & bedtime books for DS from Amazon 😊

What is life without online shopping! I buy 99% online!

Well I get about 4 deliveries a year and I can assure you I have a really great life. I am aghast at the sheer amount of stuff people seem to be able to afford to buy. And that they have no qualms about the environmental/resource impact. Christ we really are fucked as a species.

This little beauty! It is a gift that I need by this afternoon, so I hope it arrives in time (it’s out for delivery right now!) 😬. I ordered it roughly a week ago (a last minute gift idea).

Oh, be aghast if you wish, leaf, really be.

If a shop is online only, I can't buy in any other way than ordering. I'm making money, that's why I can spend it the way I like it. I won't apologise for this. I contribute to the economy. Most of those shops are British brands, some are small and independent and would not exist if it wasn't for online shopping. I have no environmental concern because it would be far worse to make several trips to the city centre using my car to buy all this than to make orders from retailers that are subsequently delivered together by one service provider who delivers not just to me, but to the entire neighbourhood on the same day. I live in the suburbs and don't have public transport readily available, believe it or not.

So, there, stay aghast. Hope this makes you have a good day. You haven't made me feel shit as you hoped though, sorry, not sorry 😂

Xiaoxiong · 23/03/2023 11:15

Replacement laptop charger as doggy guest that came over yesterday chewed through my cable. Thank god for amazon prime one-day as otherwise I wouldn't be able to work today.

Things for DS1 to start boarding - brick Nokia phone, name tapes, new goggles for swimming, printed hard copy photos for him to pin up on his wall behind his bunk.

Viola rosin and a new music bag for DS2.

@theleafandnotthetree seasons of life, innit. I haven't bought any clothes that haven't been from Vinted for an age, but no matter how minimalist you are there are some things you just need to replace or get in that can't easily be found trawling round the shops. DH and I both work full time, have 2 DC and both hate shopping with a passion so online shopping is a godsend.

Cuwins · 23/03/2023 11:34

Some playmobil for DD for Xmas (25% off sale!), travel cot for our first holiday with DD and a new baking tray as I ruined the other one!
