If you had a boat what would you name it?

As subject really.
We are hoping to buy a river cruiser. The one we’ve seen has a name that is personal to the current owners. We can change the name but we’re not sure what to change it to, we’re not very creative I’m afraid.

Demeter.

I have wondered occasionally why cornflakes, muesli etc aren't called demetrials.

I do have a boat, it came with a fairly meaningless name which we couldn't be bothered to change. Previous boat was called 'Das Boat' when we got it. Thought that was a great name 🤣.

Is there someone local to the area from history who is little remembered? That naming your boat after her or him would give interest in their story? Especially if you plan to hire out the river cruiser or do trips at any point.

My parents NDNs had one called "Shy Talk", but I wouldn't use that personally. Smile

With regard to bad luck when changing the name - well I don’t really believe in all of that stuff.
We had a boat many, many years ago and we renamed that and no bad luck befell us.
I have also had horses whose names I have changes and again nothing bad happened.

Maybe I am speaking too soon, but the name it has now is very personal to the current owners.

Our canoe is called The Yacht.

So we can say we are going out in The Yacht this weekend.

I LOVE that!
