Pat Sharp…
Terry Nutkin.

I mean, they were never ‘everywhere’ but core personalities of my childhood!

Pat Sharp recently had to leave his job at Greatest Hits Radio after making an inappropriate comment about someone's breaststroke at an awards show.

Mira Sorvino is my contribution.
Not mega famous, but she was a rising star in the late 90s, was engaged to Quenrin Tarantino and won an award for her role in Mighty Aphrodite IIRC.

I read somewhere that her career had been cut short because of Harvey Weinstein, and that her father Paul had words with him.

Funnily enough I was thinking about this the other day.

It was Lauryn Hill, I was thinking of.

Lauryn Hill was huge in the 90s, with things like Sister Act 2 and Fugees etc.
She's a fabulous singer/rapper.

I'm sure I read somewhere she went to priding for Tax Evasion and decided to take a step back from fame.

I think she still performs!

Lisa Snowden.

She's over on instagram talking about menopause and was a celebrity masterchef:

Katie puckrick is doing a podcast "about" We Didn't Start The Fire, with on episode for each of the things named in the song. It is very long!

Re smack The Pony, isn't Doon McKichan on Two Doors Down? And lots of other things. The third one (can't remember name) was in EastEnders a few years ago.

Fiona Allen. Still acting, according to IMDB.

wofs · 20/03/2023 07:37

Russ Abbott - he had his own comedy series, a no 7 hit etc. Rarely see him now!

I think a lot of presenting / acting work dries up for women once they hit middle age .

You think?!

DoIWantThis · 20/03/2023 07:47

Tony Slattery, I've just looked him up and found a 2019 interview - now I am really sad for him

Aphrathestorm · 20/03/2023 08:42

Sean Maguire he was so big in Eastenders in the 90s. Went to LA and did do a show there for a bit but don't know since.

Also his counterpart Nicola Stapleton.

Abi Titmiss- she was everywhere 20 years ago. That just seems so bizarre now. A lot of women were Nuts/Zoo famous. Glad that's gone now.

Dinopawus · 20/03/2023 08:42

Starting to wonder if this thread was started by celeb agents.

Edith Bowman - on prime time BBC one all last week and Sunday Brunch yesterday.

Chris Evans. Virgin radio breakfast show.
Zoe Ball, Radio 2 breakfast show.
Jane Middlemas, Virgin Radio host.
Mylene Class, still appears on multiple rent a celeb shows.

If only there was a way to search for people on the internet you are genuinely curious about.

The award Mira Sorvino won was an Oscar! Also a Golden Globe. Awards are a kiss of career death for some people.

You're aware this is a CHAT forum, right? People want to engage with other people, and last time I checked Google didn't have that capability. So tiresome, the whole "just Google it" line. Google is a killer of the old-fashioned conversation!

Cliff Richard. Thank god.

It's Anneka!

All this speculating - why not just look it up?

Did you read the post before yours, because that answers your question?

Lol - where have you been!

Because @xsquared , I hadn't gone through the 10 previous pages of speculation! I got to about page 4 and posted my comment. Obvs, the point about it being a chat forum was on a later page
But having a 'chat' doesn't preclude you from looking up whether or not someone is dead, or if they are working in a theatre production rather than on telly!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 20/03/2023 10:05

I'm always baffled by the people who clearly think that the MN talk forum is an international UN summit gathering, and not just a place for an informal chat about any and everything.

But not nearly as baffled as by those who see a thread title about something that doesn't interest them, nevertheless click on it and read through it, and then take the trouble to post on it that 'nobody is interested in it'!

Dinopawus · 20/03/2023 10:10

Oh I'm aware it's a chat forum, it's one of my favourite ways to waste time. I am simply curious as to why we have a thread about long lost celebs, the very week several of the ones mentioned multiple times have started new TV shows.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 20/03/2023 10:12

True - but Google or Wikipedia would never have yielded the above nugget that Bernie Clifton lives in a nice big house in Derbyshire - near a MNer Grin
