A question for Bake Off lovers - who would you have chosen as a presenter

My family love GBBO and we’re a bit unsure about AH as the new replacement. We don’t know who we would have chosen though. Mel & Sue were our favourites, we liked Sandi as well.

Who would you have chosen?

Uncle Roger!

Yes!!! He'd be brilliant.

I would've chosen Liza tarbuck

Yes she would be great. And i also agree with a pp ..thank God it's not Philip Schofield!!

I know NF & ML aren't too popular on here but they're the main reason I watch it. It makes it more accessible to amateur bakers whereas Masterchef is for the professionals. In other words, I don't want it to become too serious and Noel and Matt are brilliant, imo.

I love Judi Love. AH is too shouty and inane for me.

I really struggle to understand why Alison Hammond has provoked such backlash. It's such a mystery and I can't think why it is. I suppose it's just one of those things really.

I'm not in the UK and had never heard of her (there was another thread about her this morning). Funnily enough she is on my TV screen at the moment, and she seems lovely - I look forward to seeing her on the show.

billysboy · 18/03/2023 06:28

Ellie Taylor would have my vote

billysboy · 18/03/2023 06:31

Or Claude Littner

Happy with Alison Hammond but can we replace Paul Hollywood but James Martin please?

YES what a great swap

Monkeybutt1 · 18/03/2023 06:50

I'm not sure Alison Hammond is right for it but I will watch with interest and give her the benefit of the doubt.
I was hoping for Claudia Winkleman I really love her and thought she was fab on the other cooking show she presented with Mary Berry, I can't for the life of me remember what it's called.
Nadiya would be great as a judge but not a presenter.

Eatentoomanyroses · 18/03/2023 06:53

Kathy Burke and Richard E grant. Would love to see those two on together

smellyflowers · 18/03/2023 07:00

Alison Hammond

sandgrown · 18/03/2023 07:04

Definitely Liza Tarbuck or Lorraine Pascale. Alison Hammond is too loud .,

Velvetear · 18/03/2023 07:13

I stopped watching as found the presenters irritating. Might give it a go again with Alison.

Lorraine Pascale would also be an excellent choice as would Bob Mortimor!

Andi Oliver would be a definitel improvement on PH

People keep asking for his removal but miss the point that its a baking show and he is a professional baker, as was his fathter

Andi Oliver would be great replacing Pru personally

At the risk of sounding boring I'd like just a voiceover, describing what's going on, what the bakers are doing and a little food history thrown in like the used to. It's not about the presenters and it's all a little distracting.

I'll join you in 'camp boring' 😅

The presenters add nothing for me, if anything they're a big bit irritating.

With the last pair (Noel & Matt) the 'humour' was just juvenile and mostly unrelated to a baking competition.
I don't think the show needs a comedy element.

All that said, if we can't have Mel back, then I think Alison Hammond is a good choice - providing she doesn't turn it into 'The Alison Hammond' show.

WeAreFromThePlanetDuplo · 18/03/2023 07:37

She certainly turned the BAFTAs into ‘The Alison Hammond Show’. That was horrendous!

Uncle Roger!

😂😂

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 18/03/2023 08:09

I like Alison

Noooo!! You can't say that!! It really does need a comedy element. If you want serious watch Masterchef the Professionals. Noel and Matt are brilliant and yes they are often juvenile but that's their thing. If I was a better baker, I would apply to the show just so I could meet Noel who I worship.
