A question for Bake Off lovers - who would you have chosen as a presenter

My family love GBBO and we’re a bit unsure about AH as the new replacement. We don’t know who we would have chosen though. Mel & Sue were our favourites, we liked Sandi as well.

Who would you have chosen?

I think Alison will be great, bubbly, warm & easygoing.

Andi Oliver. Love her

Should have been Bill Bailey.

Alison is lively, she tolerable though and I like her she is genuinely that way as we know from BB, she's not fake.

She would've been amazing

I'm really happy with Alison. Neither Matt or Noel have ever seemed very interested in the baking, and not always that interested in the bakers. I think Alison could bring some warmth and engagement to the show. Looking forward to seeing how it pans out.

I voted Nadya Hussain on the other thread - but I’m going to change that to Bob Mortimer. I’d watch every episode if he was presenting it.

Alison Hammond seems genuine to me. No airs and graces. Perhaps a bit too 'common' for some snobs though.

Interesting how the vast majority of people who want someone other than Alison, chose a white presenter.

Sarah Millican would be good.

Also Fern Britton as a pp suggested. She was lovely with the contestants on Watercolour Challenge and very understated whereas Alison is in yer face. However I think she is into cooking which the other presenters haven’t been and I’ve always thought that was odd.

I wanted Susan Calman. Anyone who actually enjoys eating the bakes would be good though. I don't know much about Alison Hammond, but she seems like she might be a good fit. I like Liam Charles from Bake Off - The Professionals.

What if they had the winner from the previous season act as host for the next season? Keeps the focus on the bakers.

Andi Oliver is a food critic (or has been) which means that shes too 'foody' for the presenting role I think, the presenters need to come across as a bit naive or not very knowledgeable about the food

Mind you, I would have thought Nadia would have been good and she obviously won it!

I’m sorry this has turned into a race debate! Obviously without sending a selfie and a screenshot of my passport to prove it, I’m not white but African. My question was about the personality and tone of the show. For me AH is a boisterous, fun woman while the show is I don’t want to say boring but quiet, sedate I guess?

TBH I haven’t watched this in ages because I can’t bear the adverts on C4 but I heard the news about Alison H and immediately thought she was ideal for however long the format has left to run.

That's ridiculous and offensive. It really is. I'm not a fan of Alison and I reserve the right to say who I would prefer without it being judged as racist or offensive. It's nothing to do with colour. You're the one with the problem and you need to take a long hard look at yourself if you see racism in something like this.

Oh and I didn't think of Andi Oliver. But I think she'd be fantastic. So you are very very wrong.

Liam but hes great in junior bake off. Both presenters are.

Talking about a black woman getting a job and listing everyone who would be better at it than her is racist and offensive.

This happens all the time. You cant possibly dislike someone or not favour them if they're black or female without being racist or misogynist.

Ive seen barely anyone who seemed to like Matt Lucas on that show, he has been criticised constantly as a poor choice for the show. Whats the invented reason why people dont like him or want him to do it? Not as easy when its a white male.

The show is quite boring and sedate. An injection of someone lively will be a good thing IMO.

They need some better bakers too.
